Yap looked a damaging twist, credit to him that he was able to walk of. But mail jumping the gun. A significant injury will have swelling And they can't scan till it's gone down a bit so won't know for a few days I'd guess

Hope it's not too bad for the kid...if he is out for the season, I wonder if we can recall Chalobah from forest?

Isn't Chalobah only on loan until January?

Actually the MRI can tell if the ACL is ruptured regardless of swelling. They will get him an MRI today. I just hope it's not a meniscus tear. Those can't be replaced or healed. An ACL can be replaced or repaired with stem cells if you have a lot of $$.

Depends on the tear. If its just a slight tear he could be back this year. When I first looked at it I though it looked pretty bad, hopefully its nothing major

On the plus side, although I wasn't able to watch the match the feedback I've heard on Essien's performance has been overwhelmingly positive. It's a shame for the lad but if Essien is genuinely getting back to first-team standard then we should have enough depth to our squad that MVG's absence shouldn't hurt us.

That's three really serious knee injuries to hit our DMs in the last three years: Essien (twice), Romeu and now MvG. Joe Cole also did the same.

A really big blow to the lad and the squad as a whole.

Out for the season, which is a shame, however...

Not being funny but it's not like we haven't got enough back-up...

Where have you read this ?

All the club (Steve Holland) have actually said is this:

"We've got an injury to Marco which, it's a little bit too early to be certain but it doesn't look good. He'll have a scan on Wednesday on an injury to his knee. It's too early to say (if it's a bad one) but let's hope that's not the case. It didn't look good as he came off so early in the game. We'll have to see the results of the scan, we'll know more on Wednesday."

"And his substitute, Ramires, also had to go off with a muscular injury at the top of his hip which was causing him more discomfort as he tried to run it off. He'll be a major doubt for Saturday at Tottenham, not out for sure yet, but a major doubt. They're the two disappointments of the evening."

The Mail came up with some conjecture that he 'could be out for the season', which is apparently headline-worthy. They are truly the Liverpool FC of newspapers...
