Why the hostility? I don't get this hatered towards Cesc. His game is about presicion. He can't force those brilliant passes if he is a bit off.

I know he's been bad of late and he has only himself to blame but we couldn't have won the title without him. No way.

lesblues says the metro saying cesc is looking to leave. i know it's the metro, but if it's true we don't need anyone at the club who isn't willing to stay to help us out this mess, partly caused by the same player/s not doing enough themselves.

Hope it is true - playing in a league that is slower and allows him time on the ball will be a good thing for him.

I'd rather make a statement by bringing in a big name to compete with our existing players than having whoever replace Fabregas. Whilst he's been dire for a while, he's an 'x factor' player at his best and I would rather see a tactical rethink before making any more rash decisions such as Lukaku and Mata.

Wouldn't be a travesty, but replacing him would be a task. Go for koke maybe.

Guus could try putting Oscar beside Matic and let Cesc play number 10 role. Even Willian could play that CM/DM role.

to be fair, i wanna see loftus cheek play but don't think his vision is anywhere near fabregas' vision. i could be wrong because we've not seen enough of him. i would personally like kroos from madrid if the talk of him leaving is true. dunno if he would come here though.

I don't think fabregas's passing ability is in question. I don't think he is dynamic enough to play in that midfield 2 anymore, especially while the rest of the team is also struggling.

If we were a bit more solid at the back, and a bit more clinical going forward, we could probably get away it in most games.

But I think more steel in the middle of the pitch is required. Mikel isn't mobile enough, and ramires is like a right back playing centre midfield most of the time.

Id love to say rlc is the answer, but I doubt he will get the opportunity.

Until our defense is sorted out, I dont want Fabergas to play. We cant have a leaky defensive line, an off form Matic and a soft Fabergas play and not expect to be punished. 

Thats how we want Cesc to play, bossed the game as we know he can, when we need a battling midfield of 3 Cesc, Mikel and Matic will be hard to beat......

yep i thought he was back at his magic hat form today,  tracks back and pressures,  ran the show offensively, and that beautiful touch pass that led to the second goal

Agree, finally a good performance.

I did not watch the game - looks like Fabergas was amazing. Are my assumptions true:

- Our offense was able to hold the ball up front, stretching their defense

- Our DM Mikel was breaking up opposition plays 

- When we had the ball, our offense was moving forward much faster than a slow build up play 

 

I am trying to see if Fabergas changed something about his game or if the rest of the team picking up their game is helping him thrive.

Mikel gave him license to do his stuff, be interested to see the passing stats, hint hint...

I thought mikel and fabregas played a lot of neat little passes and we were more patient than we have been. It does help when the striker is actually making decent runs though.

Fabregas looked like he was under instruction not to hold the ball, he was making 1 and 2 touch passes all game, rarely caught with it which seemed to work well. Having Mikel as an almost always available outlet helps, its his best attribute in my opinion.
