Zouma - If Kurt's Happy, I'm Happy!

Featured Replies

Think he's a big talent and a quality player already, but he had a few shaky moments today that could have cost us dearly.

Coutinho really should have scored, but a great save by Courtois denied him. Also there was the miss timed header, although it has to be said he repaired that mistake himself.

He did get a lot better in the second half. It's key to keep giving him playing time. I hope Mourinho agrees and doesn't punish his mistakes by benching him.

He played very well. Still get a bit nervous with him because he made a couple of mistakes, he mistimed his header and it was his fault that Coutinho got his shot away but Cahill also makes mistakes. I hope he starts vs City.

Definitely shows a lot of promise. Stays on his feet which I like in a centre half. Can only benefit playing alongside the best centre half in the history of the Premiership.

It's fun watching him pass the ball as if he's thinking...

"open your body shape, bend foot outwards, move foot towards the ball, strike ball with instep in the direction of your teammate, keep "concentration face" at all times"

Put in a performance that will, surely, see him start on the weekend. A few mistakes, mainly in first half (all?), but our performance was a lot worse in the first half in general. Made some big blocks, key interceptions and seemed as though he has been playing foor a few years. Not suprised he is impressing so early on seeing as he has JT next to him to mentor him and get him into gear with the pace of the football here.

Future looks bright for this lad.

I said before the game that he was one of the few players to come out of the Bradford game with any credit and he carried that on last night. Did so much of JT's work, read the play well for his age and his physical gifts simply can't be understated. Has the pace to recover from mistakes and did just that in the first half. Has to start for me this weekend.

The crowd seems to love him already, could hear the cry of Zooouma whenever he put in a good tackle or made a decent clearance.

What I quite like about him is that he takes no chances. If he think he needs to hoof it long out if defense to clear our lines or put it out for a throw in he will rather than trying to play his way out of trouble and possibly making bad mistakes.

True, but there was a moment in the second-half (I think, might've been ET. We were defending the Shed) when Liverpool played a long ball and he was facing his own goal but had a player closing him down. He could've probably played it back to the keeper but instead hoofed it out. I think that's something that will come with maturity.

But you're right that he's loved already. He's a young lad but he's also a cracking little player. So dominant in the tackle already and once he's got a bit more experience he could be a top player.

He may not be the most cultured, but he's a pretty formidable opponent.

Massive test for him today and he passed with flying colours.

Much as I like Cahill for his attitude, I don't think he's Chelsea quality.

It looks like this boy could very well be.

Cahill has had a poor season and I think he's struggled since having a poor WC, but he was good last season and can turn it around this season or next season so let's be less fickle.

Looks as if Kurt has forced his way into the starting eleven. Massive call by Jose today and I reckon we will see Kurt for the rest of the season.

Yeah - I've got that inkling as well.  I feel that in 10 years we could be looking back going - damn he has barely missed a game since that time that Jose stuck him in that huge game against City.

Love watching the kid.  That tackle on Aguero had me crapping myself - however watching it back on the replays it was a calm and calculated decision.  Great tackle.

He reminds me of a young Duberry - high hopes for Zouma!

What I was most impressed with was his reading of the game and positioning. Watching him a couple of times in France I thought he was extremely athletic, bit was all over the place trying to do everything at once. A bit like another centreback we recently sold. But yesterday he showed he is a really smart and composed player with more to offer then extreme physical qualities. Cahill wont get back his spot any time soon

He is still a little inconsistent in these areas though, but the upside of him playing regularly next to Terry is massive. His confidence is probably what I've found most impressive.

He is, but it seems like he is getting better at it each game. Its at a much hiver level then I expected it to be and if he continues his cute we have a truly special player on our hand

What a team France is becoming. Varane and zouma the future of france, pogba too and lacazette etc.

Don't forget Laporte who by the sounds of it is as good as Varane. Then there is Imbula and Thauvin at Marseille and Rabiot and Digne at PSG. France should be very strong at the next World Cup.
