Oh ! Sorry !  I thought I'd put a smiley face after my original comment, which was meant "tongue-in-cheek", although you can't tell that with the emoticon omitted 🙂

No worries.  Many thanks for the update. 👍

You can't learn that. You either have it or not + he needs to work on far more significant things for a defender before reading a game. Playing with his feet pops out at first.

I'd argue it's the opposite. Players get better at reading the game through experience and tactical training.

Playing with his feet is more technical and is usually very tough to learn partly because after a certain age players tend to be set in the way they play football.

Earlier than that, if you can't control a ball properly as a teenager you won't suddenly start doing so when your prime comes about.

There's many things a player can improve on but natural talent isn't one of them.

He's probably down to fourth choice CB now. Don't think he'll be happy with that and might push for a move in january.

He might benefit from losing some muscle, compare the physiques of him and other CBs and you notice he's much bulkier and less agile, he really only has straight line speed and power.

I think you're being a bit unfair on the traffic cone ... I'd have that in 4th ...

He is a talented player obviously but not reliable, nor calm or free from mistakes. I'm afraid this might never change, lots of examples out there of players like that. But.. in 3-men formation in defense he might look well. If two other players are around and look to protect his disorientation and cover his back, he might shine again. Let's not throw him under the bus yet.

Everyone slating Zouma for yesterday but was he at fault for the goals? Was he marking the from that corner, I missed it?

Seemed like Kepa could have done better for both and Alonso let his man drift in behind him for one.

He's only back from injury but Rudiger actually had a couple of moments where he put the defence in trouble but that's gone unmentioned.

I thought Kepa did ok for both the goals got unlucky with the first save bouncing back in off Tammy's arm, the second he stopped a very well hit shot (yes he could have got it further away from the danger) but again there were 2 defenders on or near the line that you would expect to clear

Kepa is 100% at fault for the first goal IMO, the header didnt have massive power behind and he should know Tammy is on the post, he bloody put him there. 😄 So pushing it out to the side instead of stopping it, is something he has to work on. Hes got weak enough wrists, I mean hes got hi shands to penalties and shots in the past and they've still gone in, its not a major criticism but he cancertainly improve that part of his game.

Cant fault Kepa for the 2nd though, first shot, if its more in the corner to his right hand side, it probably goes in first time so the rebound goal is nobody's fault really, maybe Alonso for allowing Doherthy to ghost in behind him if you really want to blame someone but if we win every game by 2 or 3 goals this season, I'd happily leave in a few goals at our end. 😄

I dont see Zouma or Rudi being starters this time next year. I think we'll spend big on a CB with Tomori, Christensen and Ampadu all in front of Kurt and Rudi in the pecking order.

Kepa weak wrists are causing the odd problem. He might do better fisiting balls away.

Kurt was fine tonight ... no obvious mistakes ... albeit he gives me kittens every time he gets the ball ... a bit like bambi on ice, with a broken leg, and wearing roller skates ...

Other than his mistakes, he's been good this season. The hate for him is just because he looks awkward.

I do think he is the worst out of our 4 central defenders, but he's a lot better than some other teams 4th choice centre backs.

Other than my lack of ability to play football at a high level, i could have been a professional footballer.

How many mistakes? The rashford foul has ruined his season for some fans.

Name anything particularly good he's done? Not to mention how sloppy he is in possession.

Made some good tackles. Looked strong. 90% pass percentage.

I said he was our 4th best defender. But I find it troubling how people are making out like he's one of the worst ever players to put on the shirt because of one bad tackle and that he looks a bit weird on the ball.

Genuinely can't remember any good tackles. Strong is a given, the blokes built like a brick sh*t house. Pass completion due to 2 yard passes into the other CB or Jorginho, not to mention how long it takes him to make the pass.

Not Chelsea level, that much has been obvious since his injury and Tomori has made it even more evident this season.
