May 16, 20179 yr Thought last night showed that we have firmly moved on from JT in a playing capacity. I know he was playing with a team that hasn't played much together and it showed. But there were a few errors and not quite upto the JT standards. That said, he's allowed to enjoy this moment. Part of me hopes he retires - he goes out as a champion and a winner. It hasn't worked out for other big name defenders like Rio Ferdinand by moving to a smaller club. They just look embarrassing.
May 16, 20179 yr They mentioned on mnf that he has a big presence at the club behind the scenes and him going would defo leave a hole. With steve holland leaving too, it doesn't leave a lot of english players/staff behind the scenes with terry's experience and leadership. However, I do think luiz, fabregas and azpi are great leaders and I think we will be just fine. We have to expect changes at some point, we can't rely on the old guard forever.
May 16, 20179 yr Author Has now said that it's not nailed on he will play beyond the end of the season. To be honest I can't see him playing abroad, he seems to like his home comforts too much. It's whether he fancies playing for someone like Bournemouth for a couple of years for the enjoyment of playing or if he wants to go out on top as a double winner (hopefully).
May 16, 20179 yr Could see him going to Bournemouth, and it would kinda suit probably. Be good to see him play a bit more, as long as he doesn't go to a rival. Sunday will be an emotional day!!!
May 16, 20179 yr Actually i hope he retires as he could ruin his reputation by going elsewhere. He was not the same last night. Don't do it JT.
May 16, 20179 yr It would be great if JT could carry on training with the squad when he can, keep himself fit in body and soul, it would be good for him and the club, and the rest of the players would benefit from his massive amount of experience. I'm sure he won't want to just stop coming to Cobham totally.
May 16, 20179 yr Great player and a great coach on the pitch. Hopefully he'll be involved with the Academy next season. Edited May 16, 20179 yr by the special one

Where else do you see him getting regular football and challenging for anything? They play ridiculously open expressive football and even when he was top class JT struggled with that (AVB tenure). His best shot will be signing on with Pulis for a season (if he wants to stay in England).

May 16, 20179 yr Controversially I think last night will have shown JT that he no longer has the legs for Premier League football. At 36, it could be wise to concentrate on his coaching badges and be able to look back on a glittering career that hasn't been diminished with a move he quite possibly doesn't want.
May 16, 20179 yr Just got to look at Rio Ferdinand when he left United - went downhill and embarrassed himself. Players never get better with these type of moves.

Agreed, I thought he looked good at the start of the season but his cameo roles have been pretty shocking really. Don't think he's up to the physical side of the League anymore and think he'd struggle even in a low block with a lower league club. Got absolutely nothing to prove though.

Tbh he was every bit as bad as Ivanovic last season, 14/15 really was his "last horrah before falling from a cliff " season many great players in the twilight years have, happened with Neville and Giggs aswell.

He and his family may not want to live abroad. But I see no basis for labelling him as liking his home comforts too much when like I said he takes any and every opportunity to leave the country.
May 17, 20179 yr Author 9 hours ago, startedwithglenn said: He leaves the country at literally every opportunity I mean in the sense of being with his family, spending time with them etc. If he moved abroad his family most likely stays in England because of his kids and the impression I get from JT is that he'd rather stay close to them than move abroad for the sake of regular football.
May 17, 20179 yr It would be so fitting if JT can go out on a high with an FA Cup win over The Gooners at Wembley and lift the famous cup one last time. Expect it will be a tough game but it would be great if we could blow them away like we did at The Bridge so with 10 minutes remaining we are leading 3-0 and can bring JT on for his swan-song. Don't like the idea of him coming on at 1-0 and dropping a howler!! Be part of another CFC side that wins the double and then hang those boots up John. Finish on a High - all good things come to an end.

We should use this track for the team when they walk out of the tunnel, with the team coming out onto the pitch to a standing ovation @1:30 into the track. A fitting piece of music for the farewell of our very own ROCKY.

They have the 3rd worst defence in the league, even worse than Sundeland's and that is saying something. Terry would really suffer playing for them. They are far too open and exposed defensively.
