May 17, 201511 yr Surely that debacle yesterday is the final nail in his coffin? Liverpool need to invest in top players to get back into the top four, but can this clown be trusted not to piss the cash up the wall like has for the last 3 years? I really doubt the Liverpool board are prepared to hand over another 50 or 60m to him.
May 17, 201511 yr Some of you are missing the point. Rodgers is trying to avoid the Europa league. He just needs to lose at Stoke, hope Spurs and Southampton win their final games and that Villa win the cup. Then he'll have another season with full weeks to prepare for every league game. The man's a genius.
May 17, 201511 yr Funny you mention that. When I was in Liverpool, I ran into more Toffee supporters than Scum ones. The only time I saw anyone wearing Liverpool red was when I was in the City Centre, and on the Monday I was there (it was match day, the day they played Newcastle). Yep sounds about right. Liverpool one is an area of the city center. LFC have a megastore that's called Liverpool one club shop and just a few doors down evertons club shop is called Everton two. Good bit of banter from the toffees
May 17, 201511 yr Finished his first season on 61 points. Two years later, millions spent, and with one game left they're on 62 points.
May 17, 201511 yr Finished his first season on 61 points. Two years later, millions spent, and with one game left they're on 62 points. If you spend £100m plus you really should be aiming for 63 points.
May 17, 201511 yr If you spend £100m plus you really should be aiming for 63 points. I expect a win at Stoke will be followed by proclamations of surpassing expectations. Have we had it confirmed who organised the banner flyover yesterday? I reckon united fans.

They are top of the fair play league and if they finish top they are guaranteed a Europa League spot
May 18, 201511 yr I don't get how he and Liverpool didn't see this season coming. Plundering a midtable club of not even its best players is not the way to win the league or get top 4 Brendan.
May 18, 201511 yr I don't get how he and Liverpool didn't see this season coming. Plundering a midtable club of not even its best players is not the way to win the league or get top 4 Brendan. Worked well for them for years back in the day .....still stuck in the past .............
May 18, 201511 yr He's a decent coach who's good at getting the best out of certain players. But he's no more than that. He's tactically inept compared to the likes of Van Gaal, Mourinho and even Wenger. He can't organise a defence and he's had 3 years trying to do it. He has no 'pull'. What big name player out there thinks to himself; "I tell you what, I'd love to play under that Rodgers bloke one day." No one. Not one player. He needs to win something and soon or he'll be under huge pressure from L'pool supporters. But the best thing about all of this is that their owners, FSG, will probably keep him on as long as possible because he fits their 'moneyball' model in buying cheap, younger players and selling them on at profit IF they become decent. There's no way that Ancelotti or Klopp would work with these rules, especially after being at bigger clubs in recent times (let's be honest, Dortmund are far bigger than Pool these days.) My prediction is that we'll see B-Rod at a midtable Spanish or Italian club in 2 years time, like David Moyes. Edited May 18, 201511 yr by RAWK Meltdown
May 18, 201511 yr He's a decent coach albeit inept defensively (which is actually pretty important). What I think is his worst feature as a manager is his woeful purchases. I think BBC sport did a feature a few months ago where it was concluded just 3 of about 30 of his buys have been successful (and I believe they included Kolo Toure in that because he was free!).
May 18, 201511 yr Sturridge (arguably), Coutinho, and who else? I wouldn't trust Brent with a tenner if I was the Pool owners this summer.
May 18, 201511 yr Sturridge (arguably), Coutinho, and who else? I wouldn't trust Brent with a tenner if I was the Pool owners this summer. That Suarez fella wasn't too bad...
May 18, 201511 yr That Suarez fella wasn't too bad... correct me if I am wrong but Suarez was a Dalglish signing
May 18, 201511 yr correct me if I am wrong but Suarez was a Dalglish signing Was he? Did he sign at the same time as Andy Carroll then? Blimey how can you get one signing so right and another so wrong all in one go?
May 18, 201511 yr Was he? Did he sign at the same time as Andy Carroll then? Blimey how can you get one signing so right and another so wrong all in one go? Yep, signed them both with the Torres money
May 18, 201511 yr Author I am so glad of that "In Brendan we trust" banner. haha. Let him spend another fortune, please please.
May 18, 201511 yr Yep, signed them both with the Torres money In which case... RAWK is right, he really has made only two signings of note. Henderson was signed by Daglish too wasn't he? Well at least he's transformed the attack with the inspired signings of Lambert, Balotelli, Borini and Aspas. £40m worth of strikers with 5 league goals between them.
May 18, 201511 yr Gerrard only stayed at Liverpool for one reason, the love of the club or the loyalty to the area was NOT one of them.
May 18, 201511 yr Was listening to the 606 phone in eith Fletch & Sav, Savage said he doesn't think Lampard could have done for Liverpool what Gerrard dud. They act like Gerrard never played with any good players in his career, it's nauseating.
May 18, 201511 yr Exactly. Is it a coincidence Gerrard played his best stuff when working with players like Alonso, Torres, Mascherano, Arbeloa, Carragher, Hyypia, Reina. That's a great core of players who were near peak in 07-09. Was he carrying these players? The 05 side had some great players too, not a vintage CL winning side but it was still talented. Lampard was a key player for a star-studded successful Chelsea side for most of his career, and unlike Liverpool Chelsea had the money to replace him if he wasn't up to it. Jose isn't the kind of manager who puts up with passengers. He expects players to have more than one side to their game and wouldn't put up with the side having to carry Lamps, yet he had ultimate faith in him. But the media would have you think Gerrard carried a sh*te side most of his career and Lampard was a goal poacher for a team that carried him..... Edited May 18, 201511 yr by Nichollz
