The Chronicles of Brendan 'Cringe Worthy' Rodgers

Featured Replies

Rodgers on Gerrard: "I asked members of staff if they could describe Steven in one word, what word would that be.

"It's Liverpool. Not just Liverpool as a football club but Liverpool the supporters and Liverpool the city.

"This is a guy who is very much about the city, about his people. He loves the city. He's had a number of opportunities to move away from here to prestigious clubs but this is his club. He grew up around the corner.

"When it comes to what he's given the city, politicians haven't given the same amount to the city. It's incredible really. He's a wonderful symbol for the people here and is an icon of the club."

Is this even f**king real? Pass the sick bucket. Christ sake.

Rodgers' comments are nauseating. As Beerqueen has written, Gerrard is  only a footballer. There must be hundreds of people from Liverpool who have done far much more for the City and Rodgers is insulting them. Rodgers has lost the plot.

What next: renaming John Lennon Airport to Steven Gerrard Airport.

Don't.  I occasionally fly from there.  I don't think I could if that happened.  Which reminds me of this - when they had a poor start to the season a few years back.

What a load of sh*te from Brendan Rodgers again. They love to pretend that Gerrard is the biggest club legend any football club has ever had. John Terry is a bigger club legend than Gerrard is. He has won more too and he has been a better player over the years.

Terry has been better in defense than Gerrard has in midfield. Terry is one of the best ever in his position, Gerrard isn't in his.

He's done a lot for he's people of Liverpool have I missed something ? Didn't drogba help fund a hospital and stop a war ? Now that's doing things for your people.

Brilliant!  Think I'll nick that if that's ok?

Evertonians might think different

Funny you mention that. When I was in Liverpool, I ran into more Toffee supporters than Scum ones. The only time I saw anyone wearing Liverpool red was when I was in the City Centre, and on the Monday I was there (it was match day, the day they played Newcastle).
