Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Well I’m very sceptical of Jose’s words.

Was he protecting young Kalas too when he was called upon then dropped never to return for little reason?

I’d love to see these youngsters being integrated with the first team but other than a few minutes run out when a game is over or a game or two against lower division clubs in the cup I just can’t see it changing. The pressure will be every bit as intense next season if not more so since we will be the team to catch.

We will just have to wait and see but I always shrug these remarks off given what we have seen so far.

I would assume protecting him from playing in the high pressure situation of a title chase with only 10 games to go, if RLC cocked up in some way at such a key stage it's a huge burden to carry.

By what's being said he'll train with the first team during pre-season and go into the new season with an equal chance of all the other players of being selected.

An ideal scenario for us would be to win the league with a game or two in hand so that Jose can give him some minutes to prove that he is serious about bringing him through.

I would say that this is exactly what he is meaning.  Protecting him, not only physically (there will be some hefty challenges flying about at the "business end of the season" where teams are fighting to make top 4, Europe, and avoid relegation); but, protecting him mentally.  And I think that the mental aspect is really where Jose stands above all else.  Imagine RLC getting a shot with only 10 games to go, he'd be understandably buzzing to get out there.  Then, imagine that he is instrumental in letting in a crucial goal, or some other bad scenario.  The crash, mentally, from elation to dejection could be insurmountable.

However, I really hope that Jose is a man of his word here and give RLC some games this season (where applicable) and certainly more so next season.  And next season we're not just tlaking about early round Cup games

You're a wise man, do you believe him?

I think Jose is a very shrewd man who chooses his words carefully.

He has not said RLC "will" play for the first team next season he has said he "will be competing".

Basically he's given himself a get out of jail free card. Depending on how our transfer dealings go this summer we could very realistically be going after Paul Pogba or another high profile midfielder.

If we sign someone of that caliber then beyond league cup cameo appearances I cannot see RLC having an impact next season.

Nathan Ake has performed well whenever he's been given a chance but rather than entrust him recently he opted to play Zouma in an alien position.

When was the last time Mourinho promoted a youth team player at any clubs he's managed? Balotelli at Inter Milan perhaps?

It's not in his nature to promote youth or take a gamble on them and all the time he's allowed to keep signing the likes of van Ginkel, Zouma, Salah etc... Young players that have already established themselves elsewhere I don't see why he would suddenly turn to a player with zero top level experience.

Is it a coincidence that he's coming out with this now, as we draw closer to the title ?

I think Jose came back to Chelsea with the intention of winning a title, and then advancing into the future building a new generation.

On more than one occasion Jose has talked of staying long term.

Just came in here to share that exact link, and Coco's sentiment.  It's quite exciting to hear him single RLC out like this.  I think Ruben will be motivated to prove he is worthy

I don't think signing Pogba will affect RLC development here we can't expect to throw an 18 year old straight in the team he needs to slowly be brought into the team maybe take one of Mikel/Ramires place as a back up.

I hope Jose does start bringing through youth. I know it's not his strongest area, but if he started to do it here it would be a huge step.

I don't think it will happen. Mourinho won't play them unless they are good enough and they won't be unless they get experience at the highest senior level.

Just class

He seems to be aware of what is going on around him as soon as he takes up a position. He's not greedy, he can pass the ball, has great feet, a good shot a good range of passing and is pretty skillful.

Ramires has been poor pretty much every game he has played this season, i would rather Loftus-Cheek play instead of Ramires right now. Hopefully Mourinho isn't messing about and actually does play him more often next season.

Truly hope RLC is given a chance. If I could pick a dream scenario for the rest of this season...we secure the title at home against Liverpool and RLC gets starts for the rest of thes season thereafter. Then he becomes more of a regular next.

He has that wonderful turn of pace too, where it can look as if he is near a stand still when he receives the ball,McEnroe a touch and burst of pace to leave his marker

He sometimes does a little too much at times when he could make it easier on himself, but I've always wanted to see him break into the first team.
