August 23, 201510 yr Author Was the 6th most expensive player in the squad under FFP. Found himself far too down the pecking order to justify keeping. A very bad signing but by getting him off the books, even just on loan it's a good move by the club. End of the day, with the signings of Pedro and Kenedy and bringing Traore and Moses back the writing was on the wall for Cuadrado before the season even began.
August 23, 201510 yr Juve confirmed and basically said they'll wrap up an agreement tomorrow. Why we agreed to a loan is beyond me.

August 23, 201510 yr A loan is all we could get. Who in their right mind would currently pay anything near to £26m for him?? At least he's not in the squad wasting a spot on the bench any more. Edited August 23, 201510 yr by Celery1989
August 23, 201510 yr a loan is the best thing all round in my opinion, looking at his minutes for us since his arrival wouldn't convince anyone to give decent money for him but should he find some form in italy (which is a possibility) his stock could go up. I'd feel happier if Moses was sold as it would help me to believe Oscars place here is safe, I'd like us to hang on to Oscar and Willian. If we we to bring in Pogba I'd be happy enough to see Ramires or Mikel leave, Ramires seems to have gone backwards and Mikel although a reliable option is too one dimentional to be a regular starter. August 23, 201510 yr It was obvious towards the end of pre-season Cuadrado wasn't in Jose's plans. The only time he made the bench was against City, and weirdly, Jose brought him on. Maybe, in asking for Pedro, Roman asked Jose about Cuadrado, and Jose thought, "Okay, let me show you Cuadrado, then you can give me Pedro".
August 23, 201510 yr I'm happy he won't be here, but I feel like we probably could have done at least a bit better, unless somehow Pogba is involved in this at some point.
August 24, 201510 yr A signing just never meant to work, glad it's all over. I don't think we will get much back, but you win some, you lose some.
August 24, 201510 yr I am actually a little surprised we fell into the trap with him, he lit up the World Cup and a poor Italian league.
August 24, 201510 yr Im glad its a loan, it means Forever carefree will have that nagging anxious feeling he may return, many sleepless nights
August 24, 201510 yr Sky Italia reporting a €1.5m loan fee agreed for Bambi on ice to spend the year at Juventus. Most Chelsea fans would have agreed to pay Juve €1.5m to take him off our hands

August 24, 201510 yr Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed they have agreed a deal with Chelsea in bringing Juan Cuadrado to Turin on a season-long loan deal. The versatile Colombian international moved to Stamford Bridge in January fromACF Fiorentina. However, since making a switch to England the 27-year-old has struggled to find a place in the starting XI. According to reports from Gianluca di Marzio, the Champions League finalists are ready to make a €1.5m offer for a season-long loan deal. Schalke star Julian Draxler or Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan were the first two choices for Juventus. However, the Italian side were unsuccessful in sealing a deal for either the German international or Bundesliga winger. This has forced Juventus to make an approach for Cuadrado before the end of the transfer window. “We took the opportunity, it is all done and we hope it to be official tomorrow. It will be a loan for the season,” Marotta explained. “It was discussed and agreed with [manager] Massimo Allegri. We work on the market in complete harmony with him. “We have had difficult negotiations with Schalke for Draxler. We will see the opportunity but, at the moment, there is veto from Schalke. It’s a difficult task, but we’ll see by the end of the market.” The arrival of Pedro has seen the South American attacker dropped further down the pecking order. Jose Mourinho has allowed Cuadrado join Juventus on a season-long loan and it is unlikely he will be able to break into the Blues’ first team on his return. Thought he was gonna be the next big thing and was surprised no-one had looked to prise him away from Schalke? He has looked brilliant at times and I wouldn't have minded us taking a punt on him but having really only seem him in CL games, perhaps he is yet another of these "luxury" players who doesn't turn up often enough? Still young though and worth keeping tabs on.

He definitely has the talent, but I think the problem is that Schalke know that if he can stay injury free, then they can probably get 30m for him next summer, but juve and any other big club, would be reluctant to pay such a large fee when he hasn't played much football for a while. I agree with yourself, he would be a player I'd like to see here, but I think taking a punt will be too expensive. Especially with the abundance of attacking midfielders we have.

Haven't followed him that closely and was unaware of the injuries. The fact he is a good, tricky & skillful attacking midfielder but who doesn't always turn up and is injury prone, it seems he is destined for Arsenal!! Edited August 24, 201510 yr by Nibs
August 24, 201510 yr I wish Caudrado the best of luck. It's really a shame that he hasn't done much here.
