Cuadrado - Chelsea's #23

Featured Replies

Well he must be the worst signing, certainly economically, we've ever made… Even more so than Torres but that may be harsh on Bogarde who probably thought he’d hold onto that for a day. Six months and he’s gone, I still want to know who’s signing he was and who decided to ship him out after not even a full season here. Can't say he'll be missed, wasn't happy with the signing anyway... but best of luck to him and hopefully we can rid him off our wage bill in January or next Summer.

I saw this transfer in much the same way as the Salah transfer; a bit of a punt on a player at a time when we needed cover. Ultimately you can only sign the players that are available, and in January the picking are usually slim so it's a seller's market. I think some people could do with a reality check.

Good luck to him. Hopefully he is a success for Juventus so that we don't take too much of a financial hit.

It was a crazy signing and a complete waste of the money we made on Schurrle. We would have been 100x better off keeping Schurrle for the rest of the season. Schurrle wasn't even that bad of a player for us, just very inconsistent.

Yes, but I think Schurrle wanted to leave for more first team football.

Then we should have told him to wait until the summer. It would have been better for us and probably for him too, moving in January didn't seem to do him any favours at his new club.

I stopped watching Schurrle after he left, but I think his injury may have had us concerned, and I don't think he has been that great since he left (from the little I've read/heard).

Juan was a silly signing, tbf.  Would have prefered to have given his spot to someone like Solanke

Schürrle's only started 7 games (and made 7 sub appearances) since returning to Wolfsburg, and has only scored once. It's a shame as at times he looked like a quality player. One thing I didn't realise is that he's only 24 - he definitely (hopefully) has enough time to bounce back.

I remember him picking up some mystery illness and since then he hasn't been the same.

I always got the impression he struggled to adapt to a new country, there was rumours of him flying home quite often because he was homesick.

Agreed that Schurrle was great for goals of the bench, but it never really worked in games he started. Often found himself in the striker's position - which is ideal when a game's stretched, but plenty frustrating when he and Costa got in each others way.

I thought he'd lost quite a bit of weight before his exit. Complete speculation, but I thought it looked similar to the weight loss Darren Fletcher suffered with his illness. (Which was also largely a mystery until he came out with the story iirc).

On topic, though, wish Cuadrado all the best. Never questioned his effort, hope he does well at Juventus and wherever his career takes him after.

Such a shame; he looked to have most of the tools to succeed at Chelsea. A lot of people would liken him to Salah (quick, lethal on the counter, inconsistent finishing), but I thought Cuadrado was technically superior and a harder worker (although Salah was no slouch there).

Too bad he was too lightweight. He may also have had problems adapting and never seemed comfortable.

It is truly poignant when Pedro basically wins his first game whereas Cuadrado struggles to do anything.

Hope he gets back to his dynamite best at Juventus.

Did he? Admittedly I only saw youtube compilations before he joined, but all he appeared to have was a bit of pace, not much else.

Should've seen him for Fiorentina at times.

Admittedly though the Serie A is not the PL and Fiorentina is not Chelsea but he was certainly a standout player in a competitive side.

I think adaptability and body strengths were his main problems.

Jesus... he's out 7th most expensive signing in the club's history.

To think that Stones could have been behind Torres.....and above all those other proven world class players.....makes no sense

Not to mention lack of football intelligence.

I saw him at Fiorentina, was never really impressed. Mever thought hed make it here. Looked like a smaller, quicker Ramires to me

I thought he looked poor when I saw him play preseason. Not so much mistakes more a general lack of football intelligence and no urgency on the counter. That stuff is probably pretty hard to remove from the psyche when it's engrained in a player.

That is from one game in person and a half dozen from tv though. I should to stress that .

I'm wondering how he will do this season.

people who watch Italian league please update on his progress.

Juvo fans seemed pretty excited about him to be fair. Did you see the crowds to greet him! Crazy.
