Some absolute garbage being talked about Ivanovic here - yes he has been awful today but positioning is not and has never been the issue. It's not that he hasn't been in the right place, he is just having one of those days where he is getting beaten by his man and is second to every ball. He is a brilliant player, a great defender and has been a crucial servant to the club for several years and I have every faith in him to turn it around.

Ivanovic's role in the team is to provide width on the right, while Azpilicueta provides balance on the other side to allow Hazard freedom to move inside and attack with free rein. If he leaves gaps at the back it isn't because he is deficient as a player it is because that is the risk we take with our strategy. Considering all the bitching about us being too reserved you would think such a gap would be forgivable but apparently not.

Yes we have been terrible but the overrreaction on here has been a bigger embarrassment than the performance. f**king hell.

Ploks I respectfully disagree with the bolded statement, he's been our weak link in defence for some time now, well into last season as well. His constant absence when we're defending means Cahill is forced to back off his man because of he goes tight there will ALWAYS be an extra unmarked man on his right because Ivanovic has completely lost him or not tracked back. He'd give them so many 1 on 1 chances it would be like watching a bloody train wreck. Sorry, but for me this isn't one bad game.
