June 2, 201511 yr About time but sadly I reckon it's too late for anything to be done about the ridiculous Qatari World Cup. Agree with others that this doesn't mean the end of problems in football, just new problems from other sources. I suspect that if Europe gets a firmer grip on things it could well be to the detriment to the rest of the world and probably smaller Associations within Europe.
June 2, 201511 yr Why go through with the whole election then resign a few days later. Weird. Pure self interest, but still weird to normal folk.
June 2, 201511 yr Reshmin chowdhury just tweeted that ABC news are reporting the FBI are investigating Blatter. He's f**ked New York times also reporting it. Edited June 2, 201511 yr by dkw

June 2, 201511 yr BBC are reporting that Blatter is under investigation. His statement said it for the "good of the game" but..it turns out that something bigger is coming. He knew he was getting found out.
June 2, 201511 yr Why go through with the whole election then resign a few days later. Weird. Clearly thought he was above reproach, untouchable, teflon coated, Unfortunately for him his underlings have spilt their guts rather than do a lengthy stretch in a US jail. They have got something on him and he knows it now, trying to save his sorry arse but the FBI have got their teeth into him and his cronies. Loads more blood yet to be spilt on the FIFA carpet. Meanwhile what about UEFA, are they squeaky clean, hard to believe. Platini was Blatters lap dog for years, his son got a top job in Qatar so I hear following their winning of the 22 bid........................... make of that what you will, the South African bid is looking dodgier by the hour, I know it has been and gone but history has a habit of repeating itself, oh yeah 2018 and 22.
June 3, 201511 yr 13 minutes of English comedian brilliantly skewering FIFA on his American talk show
June 3, 201511 yr What Ploks said I am as happy as the next man he has (?) gone. Or is hopefully intending too, he is still technically in charge. But what next ? I really don't think that ex-footballers is the answer we need some one with gravitas and acumen, I don't say this lightly. Football has a bigger audience than any other sport, religion, political movement and FIFA are sitting on a pile of cash as big as a national debt. Who is the right person ?

June 3, 201511 yr Why go through with the whole election then resign a few days later. Weird. He probably couldn't pull out once he had submitted everything. The delegates weren't arrested until last week, and he probably submitted what he had to well before that. When it came out, he did the only thing he probably could do- go through the motions, then resign in order to save face. Edited June 3, 201511 yr by soldiergirl84

June 3, 201511 yr And Sepp Blatter finally step down, though I wanted to know if he play a massive part in the corruption
June 3, 201511 yr And Sepp Blatter finally step down, though I wanted to know if he play a massive part in the corruption If he didnt what does it tell you about his ineptitude? He got elected five times? absolutely staggering.I never agreed with anything that fool ever said unlike one or two on here.
June 3, 201511 yr Later today we could know the details of the investigation into Blatter. Will Blatter still appear in Canada for the opening of the Women's WC on Saturday ?

June 3, 201511 yr That depends, how tight will their uniforms be? Uniforms of a different kind where he's going!

Didn't Tony Blair just quit his job? Why a Prince from Jordan is a frontrunner I don't know.
June 3, 201511 yr Why go through with the whole election then resign a few days later. Weird. Leverage. He has made a deal with someone or his corrupt power base forced him to do it in an attempt to help shut down a huge public investigation.
June 3, 201511 yr This interview with the investigative journalist who did much of the groundwork for the investigation into FIFA/Blatter is a great read. Andrew Jennings is a hero. “I know that they are criminal scum, and I’ve known it for years,” he said. “And that is a thoughtful summation. That is not an insult. That is not throwing about wild words.” “These scum have stolen the people’s sport. They’ve stolen it, the cynical thieving bar stewards,” he said. “So, yes, it’s nice to see the fear on their faces.”
