August 2, 201510 yr Looked a yard short to me, hoping he will cone good still but we will see. he was at copa america so had a very short pre-season so far. should certainly improve his fitness and sharpness over the next few games
August 2, 201510 yr Don't really care about him. It's a loan deal and I'm sure he'll chip in with about 5 goals if lucky. Hopefully bamford has a great season and takes over next season.
August 2, 201510 yr He had one below par season at utd, it's hardly like he's played sh*t for 2-3 seasons now. However, there is every reason falcao can regain form. Hasn't been the same since a leg injury he had at Monaco, that could be why so many doubt him.
August 2, 201510 yr Didn't really give him the type of service he thrives on today. A few occasions he made the run in between the full back and centre but we either didn't see him, or took a long range shot on. We need to put the ball into the box with more quality, look to slide him in through the channels. We did it well enough for costa last season and falcao needs similar service. I'm confident he will get chances, it's just whether he still has that killer instinct that seemed to be lacking last season.
August 2, 201510 yr Falcao looked decent movement wise and was involved in the link up play but he still looks like bambi..he looks clumsy with the ball. Happily give him time but not convinced he will transform. Must be a thing with Colombians, falling over a lot.
August 2, 201510 yr This thread reminds me of the Torres and Shevchenko threads..already. Keep the faith. Edited August 2, 201510 yr by JM7
August 2, 201510 yr Wasn't a magnet to wide areas like Torres often was which was a major source of frustration for a lot of us. Made purposeful, positive runs and if he keeps doing that he'll be fine.
August 2, 201510 yr He does make good runs in behind (Fabregas played a wonderful pass to find him), it's much more threatening than his hold up play imo. His first touch is what i noticed to be so poor at United and for Columbia at the Copa America. It was bad today.

Made purposeful, positive runs and if he keeps doing that he'll be fine. Spot on FC. Unlike Nando his instinct was not to run straight to the corner flag Quietly impressed with Falcao today. At his best he was an intelligent footballer as well as a skillful one. That intelligence and movement was there today. If the knee is 100% we will have a winner. Remy should only play when we have two up front IMO.
August 2, 201510 yr I still have belief. It is way too soon to be writing him off. Shame we don't say this for Cuadrado
August 3, 201510 yr Did he have an effort on goal? I mean he was on for the whole second half, wasn't he?
August 3, 201510 yr Did he have an effort on goal? I mean he was on for the whole second half, wasn't he? Nope, but he did have more fouls than shots
August 3, 201510 yr Spot on FC. Unlike Nando his instinct was not to run straight to the corner flag I'm sorry but the exact same could be said of Torres when he joined. It took a while for his confidence to really crumble and completely mess up his game. The difference is the quality of the squads and the two managers. So there is some faint hope.
August 3, 201510 yr I don't think he was any worse than Remy (or Hazard or Fabregas for that matter), and all 3 were excellent last season. So not going to read too much into yesterdays performance.
August 3, 201510 yr Did anyone watch him for atletico consistently and can you say how much better he was, or did people just see his goals? I never watched him at AM, so I have no idea if his overall game was as good or worse than it is now.
August 3, 201510 yr Yep, he makes great runs. All in all, a fantastic striker, if speed, strength, first touch and ability to score goals weren't important.
August 3, 201510 yr Yep, he makes great runs. All in all, a fantastic striker, if speed, strength, first touch and ability to score goals weren't important. An interesting assessment and conclusion based upon 45 minutes of a pre-season game.
August 3, 201510 yr Already i can see where its going with Falcao. People are going to be making excuses for him left right and centre. Hes making runs, he isnt getting service etc When he doesnt something decent it will get overplayed and will result in sympathy MOM match votes. We've been here before and I can see the signs. This thread reeks of them, already. Bamford at Palace is going to get more goals than Falcao, and very possibly Remy too. By God i hope im wrong though. Edited August 3, 201510 yr by bjd
August 3, 201510 yr Falcao is too lightweight and gets muscled off the ball easily. His first touch is poor as well.
August 3, 201510 yr Hes only played some minutes of pre-season games and it's all doom and gloom already. Judge him when we are playing for points, Remy was just as bad yesterday in my opinion. If he doesn't perform, he doesn't perform and hes gone at the end of the season. Jose took a risk and we will see how his risk plays out.

Remy should only play when we have two up front IMO. Agree with this 100%, remy isn't good enough with his back to goal to play as lone striker when we are putting pressure on teams. He can do it when we play on the counter as his pace is more dander us when there is more room over the top.
August 3, 201510 yr Did he have an effort on goal? I mean he was on for the whole second half, wasn't he?I think the diving header which he knew little about as someone (I want to say Cahill but can't remember) missed their original attempt counts an effort. Either way, I was impressed with his positioning. Very Costa-esque.
August 3, 201510 yr Watching from about 8 miles high in the sky at Wembley yesterday, we noticed that for the first 20 minutes or so of the second half, he was scaring the bollocks out of the Arse defence. They had been quite steady for the first half, and then they started to panic on the ball when Falcao was around. As we started playing a lot of slow build-up triangles and let them get organised, and as big Pete started sorting them out, the effect got less, but he still made them hurry, when they weren't really worried by Remy.
