Excellent result! Say hello to Mr. Thursday-Sunday.

Summed up by Oliver Kay from The Times:

13/14: QF (Moyes!)

14/15: Didn't qualify

Not good enough

As I said before.. I used to feel  sorry for United, but not anymore thanks to some of their fans. Dont care that we are getting sh*t results. Haha, Thursdays nights for them! They have such a woeful defence its laughable.

Agreed BB. Tonight is important for the PL as, despite Wed-Sat and Thu-Sun being in theory the same, playing on a Thu and then a Sunday does seem to take something out of players. Spurs are doing well(ish) this season in spite of playing in the Europa League. Man Utd will, I think, need a period to adjust to Thursday evening games and it will have a negative impact on their domestic performances.

It would be very good financially for us if we go through and united and arsenal both go out. It means we split the last 16 pot 2 ways instead of 4.

Hopefully we avoid juve and psg though!

Selling Sturridge seems inspired now but this must be driving him mad. His career is really on the line.

You wonder how serious his injuries are, after Klopp essentially called him a pussy, mentioning that he has to know the difference between minor and extreme pain.

This actually speaks volume of how poor the PL has been for the past 6 or so years.

United going out also means bad news for English coefficient so I wouldn't be celebrating so loudly. The PL could potentially lose 4th place to Serie A if the English teams have a poor season in Europe.

Signing all these foreigners isn't working obviously. Look at the past season or two highest scorers in the league and 2 English players are right up there in kane and vardy. We have some talented English players throughout the country, but not enough is done to nurture them.

It was a rumour when we sold him too, our coaching staff were supposedly sick of him crying of anytime he got the slightest knock.

Sad to hear that, he was brilliant last season. I suppose Monk (and José)'s experiences these past few months just go to show how quickly someone's star can fade in top-level football.

I assume Brendan Rodgers will be the strong favourite to replace him (although Robbie is available). I also imagine Monk's odds to become the new England manager after Euro 2016 have just been slashed dramatically.
