I don't think anyone doubted you're loyalty, the gist i got was more that you were 10 times more active in September than you have been since.

And did you get the gist, that I was back trekking for a month?

I would have been quite happy to get rid of Pedro last summer, but must admit that he has turned his form upside down and now fully deserves his place in the team and the accolades he is now getting. Long may it continue !

Ditto

Both pedro and matic have the tendency of overplaying when shielding the ball which often resulted in either a foul or losing possession.. I think they need to improve on that department..

Such a turnaround in form, and his attitude on the pitch is very impressive. He's always played with a high intensity and looked keen to impress, but he's obviously got the confidence boost needed to turn that energy into quality. Huge goal v Spurs, and on this form it'll be very difficult for Willian and Oscar to get back into the side.

Interesting to re-read this thread from pre-season, roughly around page 25.

Really happy for Pedro, the effort has always been there but not always the end product but having a constant run of starts seems to have really bought the best out of him.

Seems like even if he doesn't score at the moment he comes really close in every game, massive goal threat for us in the side.

If he scores ten this season I think he'll have done really well.

I think his goal return last season was quite impressive too considering the awful season we had and it was his first season with us and outside Spanish football, despite all the criticism he received.

He had a difficult first half; it was incredibly frustrating watching him because every time he got the ball there was a Spurs player immediately straight on him and he lost the ball quite a lot in the first twenty minutes, I was tearing my hair out.

But if ever you needed a 30 second video to show you how Antonio Conte has changed Chelsea, watch Pedro's goal on YouTube. Not only has he improved dramatically as a player from last year, but the celebration as well tells me a lot about the utter passion and desire that The Don has drilled into this group of players

Watching the game yesterday he got bullied off the ball early on and I thought he didn't have a good first half until the goal. After he scored he seemed a different player because he then stood up to challenges and put his foot in and his work rate which wasn't in doubt made him look a completely different player.

I thought he was useless in both halves...aside from that stunning turn/finish

This is my feeling, he was being bullied before the goal and looked completely ineffective, then again we just weren't ticking as a team before that and spurs counter tactics were doing there job. I do feel we need to understand when to smash the ball up the pitch, one reason I like Alonso

So apparently Pedro already has more open play goals and assists in 6 starts than Willian had in 38 games last season.

Think that says as much about Willian's influence from open play as it does about how good Pedro has been so far this season.

think it says more about the limitations of judging influence solely on goals and assists IMO.

I've always been a big pedro fan and it is great to see him playing well and he is well worth his place in the starting 11. but I think willian last season (particularly under jose, when we were right up against it every week) was better than any of our players this season, given the circumstances.

I won't regurgitate what I've said many times before but I've never known an attacking player, Willian, to be so highly rated considering how few goals and assists he gets from open play.

Scored a few free kicks last season, couple of them a bit jammy and it slightly boosted his numbers. Take away the set pieces and he's numbers are again average for a player who spends so much time in the final third.

Pedro can be a bit rash with his play, sometimes resembles a dog chasing a tennis ball, trying to do everything at 100 miles per hour but he's directness is a huge assist, it drives us forward rather than slow us down and he always seems to have a goal in him.

Willian works hard etc but he doesn't have the ruthlessness and self confidence in his ability to consistently be an attacking asset.
