Tammy Abraham

Actually reminded me of Drogba today.

Not necesarily clinical but his hold up was brilliant and his strength was fantastic.

Got a long way to go obviously but this was encouraging to see..

This. Spot on.

For his age, he's world class. He could be our striker for a decade and will only get better. Very very happy with him

He was brilliant today in all aspects bar finishing. He deserved a couple of goals.

Drogba wasted many good chances early on in his time with us. Signs are looking good for tammy.

Noticed with Tammy on a few occasions he appears to get the ball stuck between his legs when the ball is played up to him, he normally recovers to produce something though it looks a bit awkward at times.

Two chances I saw yesterday required deftness of first touch, it didn't happen.

Other aspects of his game looking good like holding off players, yet still needs to work on things for me.

Yep. I'd argue at this stage of his development playing well and missing the odd chance, supersedes scoring a tap in and playing bad. Obviously not every game, but you get the point. Kane and Drogba were nowhere at this age.

Honestly hard to contain my excitement when I talk about these youngsters. Knowing that these guys will boot Willian and Barkley out the side brings a tear to my eye.

Have to admit there is a very good feeling growing at the club just now as have a lot of talent coming through and you wonder if this is what happened with say Utd and the 'class of 92', I'm not sure though think we have saved ourselves bags of money with Mount and Tomori and looking also likely with CHO, James and Abraham.

With the amount of money we have flushed down the toilet recently, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Baba, Zappa, Morata, the fee for Kepa... I could go on but I'm getting upset again, the timeliness of these youngsters has been fantastic.

It’s worth remembering Drogba wasn’t exactly lethal for us - he only hit more than 15 goals in the PL for us twice and double figures in five of the years some with just 10 or 11 goals. Drogbas all round ability to bring others in to play and his big game ability is what made him such a huge player even in the years he didn’t smash them in.

I thought Abraham was brilliant on Saturday in his all round play and the last chance he had was a great save by the keeper in my opinion. He does need to become more clinical when he gets these chances but it’s worth remembering that he’s only 21 - I’m sure Kane was on loan at league 2 at this stage.

If he keeps holding the ball up and bringing others in to play and making a difference in that sense the goals will come.

Dont forget Loftus Cheek.

Almost 200m worth of talent based on present market value I'd guess, not taking long term contracts into account.

Cheek 150k 5 years, Mount 75k 5 years, Odoi 120k 5 years. If Mount continues to develop that will probably be 150k in a couple of years.

Abraham 50k 3 years, James (unknown) 3 years, Tomori (unknown) 2 years.

Abraham will hopefully go to 120k for 5 years, Tomori 100k 5 years and James 80-100k 5 years.

Those 6 players between them are currently paid about the same as Messut Ozil. Sustainable.

It's funny, I didn't include RLC as I don't see him as new talent rather already known talent.

This kid is fantastic. All the three chances he would have scored, had he passed around the goalie. But that's age. I can see him dominating the league as much and long as Aguero for City, if he keeps himself out of troubles. What a talent.

His hold up play, first touch and ability to lay off balls thumped at him with just about any part of his body to an on-rushing teammate is superb. He's already almost as good as Giroud at those elements of the game, but is also a more clinical finisher.

Looks a completely different player to the United game where he couldn't get anything to stick.

I'm a huge fan of Tammy but that comment is stretching it a bit... Kane scored 21 league goals when he was 21. If Tammy gets close to that I'll be delighted. Mind you with 7 League goals already he's got a decent chance!

Again, he demonstrates the predatory instincts and improvisational skill that you see in every good striker.

Not only does he latch on to the weighted pass from CHO, but just as the ball looked like it was getting away from him, he stuck his boot out and lobbed the keeper!

I'd be surprised if he doesn't make hay against most sides this season.

No player in the top four tiers of English football has scored more league goals than Chelsea's Tammy Abraham in 2019 (20 - joint-most with Sergio Aguero, Teemu Pukki and James Collins).

not sure if you peeps saw this quote from Ollie Giroud, but I found even more respect for him now

He's more of a blue than he is a red, and he knows it.

Which is hilarious considering how long he was at Arsenal for.

Maybe only librarians could get attached to Arsenal - after all, their stadium is essentially one massive library.
