April 29, 201610 yr Not a bad news story if he is. Assuming of course we move Falcao and Remy on. Wouldn't mind seeing how he goes partnered with Costa myself or moving from a flank.
April 29, 201610 yr scoring a penalty against the team who is bottom of the league is all you need to do to play for us nowadays
April 29, 201610 yr If rumours of Costa going back to Spain were true... we'd be left with Pato, Remy or Falcao as first option? Pick your choice...
April 29, 201610 yr If rumours of Costa going back to Spain were true... we'd be left with Pato, Remy or Falcao as first option? Pick your choice... Remy with a run of games and at match fitness is a good second striker and should have had more playing time under Mourinho... don't know how much truth there is to this, especially with all the noise made recently about giving the youth a shot at last.
April 30, 201610 yr If rumours of Costa going back to Spain were true... we'd be left with Pato, Remy or Falcao as first option? Pick your choice... If that happened we'd be a disaster. Costa is our only half decent striker. The rest are injury prone or has beens
April 30, 201610 yr Look's like he's here to stay http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/10263101/sky-sources-corinthians-expect-pato-to-stay-at-chelsea-next-season That article, if the quotes are accurate, radiates wishful thinking.
April 30, 201610 yr Chelsea's new thing for signing players who used to be good like Falcao and Pato reminds me of the days when we'd sign George Weah....except the Weah-bear was still pretty decent. Hopefully this is just talk to get other teams conned into interested in buying him.
April 30, 201610 yr I'm all for keeping him another year, depending on how much they would want him for, think he will be a good addition once he's fit and had a pre season with the squad. If Conte really is a fan then all the better. Edited April 30, 201610 yr by Remodez
May 23, 201610 yr Anyone know what's happening with him? Is he staying or going? I haven't heard anything about him.
May 24, 201610 yr Anyone know what's happening with him? Is he staying or going? I haven't heard anything about him. no idea. I heard we were thinking of keeping him, but I doubt anything will be finalized until Conte is here
May 24, 201610 yr I would keep him. We are planning on buying another top striker, but pato is still young and could prove to turn out to be a huge asset next season.
May 24, 201610 yr If Remy wants to leave it would make perfect sense to keep Pato around. Good squad player and can make an impact, if Costa is leaving and I hope he doesn't. I would sign a new first team striker and have Traore and Pato as the other options with both having the ability to play as wide men or support strikers. I think Pato/Traore as Costas support could be something great. Pato strikes me as someone who is hungry to prove himself again, whereas Remy strikes me as someone who is happy to train and sit on the bench. I couldnt totally be wrong but that's how i see it. May 24, 201610 yr I'd keep, hes a viable 2nd or 3rd choice, especially if we're not going to add another big name to rival Costa.\If we do get a Higuain or Lukaku or someone of that ilk, I'd say bye to Pato and keep Traore around.
May 24, 201610 yr Hopefully Remy and Falcao are gone this summer so maybe keep him on if he can be signed for a minimal fee. I'd like to think he'd work well with Conte and if we look to reduce the size of the squad his versatility could be useful.
May 24, 201610 yr we have younger and potentially more capable players that deserve a chance, plus purchase(s) of striker(s) will be made in the off season Goodbye Pato then, along with the other waste of bench space Falcao
May 24, 201610 yr Yeah TBH, I'd rather we got rid of Pato and gave Traore a chance. Youth product, and probably less expensive that Pato too. Obviously, this will come down to the input from Conte after he gets the chance to evaluate his team
May 24, 201610 yr Get rid. Agree, . Wasted talent, football is littered with these players who don't realise just how good a life they have compared to the rest of us. Not motivated to get himself fit enough in the four months he was here, no reason to believe that a contract with a higher wage will increase his motivation. Signings like this are why we find ourselves back in midtable after dining out with the elite. Edited May 24, 201610 yr by charierre

I'd like to think he'd work well with Conte and if we look to reduce the size of the squad his versatility could be useful. he is or was an intelligent, direct striker who can also play out wide. he might be relatively cheap in transfer fee and wages too, so those things are all pluses. I'm extremely concerned at how little he played though. I think it wasn't a bad punt, and I accept that conte will need more options up front than jose because of how he sets up, but I think he probably isn't the answer.
May 25, 201610 yr What is the exact deal with pato anyway? He was on a six month loan right? So now its up does he go back to brazil or have we negotiated to keep him here?

Taking double training sessions and publicly stating that he wasn't fit and was doing everything humanly possible to get fit and contribute.
