BARCA EYE CHRISTENSEN

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is being watched by Barcelona, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.

The Denmark international, 21, is contracted to the Premier League champions until the summer of 2020.

Its always easy to use hyperbole when describing your own players but in Christensen, we have the best young CB in the world and nobody can tell me any different.

Gladbach literally tried to steal him after his first full loan season with an offer of about 14m, had we sold hi, I'm willing to bet he would have been signed by City or Barca a year later for about 50m.

The guy has all the talent in the world and hes rarely ever out of position which for a guy at 21 playing CB, is a scary prospect, hes not the strongest, quickest or best in the air but he makes up for it with his ability to see the game develop in front of him, its like hes playing a step ahead of the guys against him. Hes only going to improve with experience too and IMO, I cant see Luiz coming back into the starting XI over Christensen, Conte might rotate but the long term future of Chelseas back line is resting on Christensnes shoulder. Hes a pretty grounded guy too, by all accounts and that will stand to him in the long term. No flashy boots, houses, cars, jewellery, just a will to win and be a success and he will be a Chelsea legend.

Hello Delnino

I totally agree with you - but I´ve seen him a few times in Monchengladbach during training sessions and warm-ups - trust me, this man is fast as lightning, when needed. He is very good in the air, but needs a bit more muscles, what he will get sooner or later. His ability to read the game is phenomenal. He plays very clever, especially for his young age and makes almost no fouls, what is very important in times where specialists use standards to win a game easily.

When a Dutchman of Southampton is worth 75m, how would you rate him now or in a year?

Every game i watch Andreas, the better i think he is and to be honest im not at all surprised that Barcelona are looking at him.

We need to keep him whatever, he has the potential to be the best CB in the world... in my opinion. He could be the main man at the back for us for the next 10 years!

I knew from watching the Bundesliga that this fella was going right to the top, he's a fantastic player and could end up being one of the best in the world if he continues on his current trajectory. I thought his performance against Arsenal was really fantastic.

He already is for me. Since he has become a mainstay we have conceded 6 goals in 11 games  (7 technically but the Huddersfield goal came after he was subbed) and i read somewhere we are averaging just one shot on target conceded per game also, that isn't a coincidence.

21 years old and it's like he's been playing the position for 10 years. If he carries on like this he'll be a world class operator. For his age his anticipation and awareness is ridiculously good. Looks like he doesn't believe in nerves either. Balls of steel. One smooth gentleman.

Apparently  he's Signed for..... ..........

Chelsea for another 4 1/5 years today.  Great news...

Quite willing to bet significant amounts of cash that if he does return, he will be sat on his arse for a few months before making an unceremonious departure on loan in January 2017.

Or we will sell him to Southampton, or similar, for about £4m and he will be playing for city in 2 years time after being sold for a world record £250m.

YOU'RE WRONG!
New contract baby

Only 21 and already has loads of experience from his time in Germany and now with us. He can only get better and this new contract shows that the club wants him on the long term. He pretty much pushed Luiz out of the starting line up, even tough Luiz was injured.

Great news that he's extended his deal.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Zouma, Luiz and Cahill come the end of the season. I could imagine one or two or those not being here next season.

I expect cahill to stay as a squad player, unless he actively wants to leave. No idea what will happen to the other 2.

On Christensen, though its only one player it does show that if a young player is good enough he can get into our first team, but they need to be a special talent.
