April 16, 201610 yr Ranieri turned relegation fodder into champs elect so we'll see Edited April 16, 201610 yr by Stim
April 16, 201610 yr As much as it pains me to say it, but if we aren't going to splash serious cash, we need somebody to emulate what Pochettino has done at White Hart Lane. Feels like groundhog day, but we have no identity, no clear strategy, just a bunch of attacking midfielders who flatter to deceive. We need to give Conte time to implement a clear structure and work with his squad- no firing in January when the going gets tough, though I'm not holding my breath.
April 16, 201610 yr Guys on a hiding to nothing with this squad. Hopefully we can cash in on the players who don't want to fix what they have caused. Passion, fight and desire is what I want never mind trophies. He gives us that and we will have done well because this seasons been an utter disgrace tbh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As Pochettino said emphatically in an interview, he's the head coach not the manager. Pochettino isn't in charge of transfers and spending. I wouldn't be surprised if he has no official power at all (i.e. his contract doesn't mention it, and any influence he has is unofficial and at the discretion of the owner/chairman/board/director). Our board seems to have adopted Tottenham's model which by the way is the dominant model in Germany and Italy. Everyone is talking about Conte as if he will be manager, but his job title is head coach, a no doubt deliberate choice of words. If our summer activity is a failure, Emanalo will be more to blame than Conte. Who is the football director at Spurs? Any chance we can get him or his assistant? Edited April 16, 201610 yr by offside
April 16, 201610 yr We often speak of end of season clear outs but they never really materialise. That said, right now, I would not even blink if we sold Mikel, Willian, Oscar, Ivanovic, Baba and Remy in the summer on top of releasing Pato and Falcao from their contracts and I'd send Kenedy on loan too. Really think we need to clear the decks and let Conte start from scratch rather than trying to patch up a clearly broken and disjointed squad. The more new faces the better next year.
April 17, 201610 yr Willian is one who will definitely stay. Arguably the only 1st team player to give 100% all season
April 17, 201610 yr Stop stressing people, we'll be bsck up there next season. This season, unfortunately, has just been an extremely strange one. We only have to look at the leaders of the league to see this. Nothing has gone right for us this season. Our best player last season off form and injured regularly, arguably our best defender behind terry received a long term injury, our defenders whom were very reliable last season have had a bad season too. Changing management mid season, starting off the season with unfit players, losing valuable medical personnel etc, etc; there are a myriad of reasons for this poor season. Next season we will be okay imo, and its great to see the integration of youth which I hope continues some more next season. Edited April 17, 201610 yr by enigma
April 17, 201610 yr People talk about clear outs but it actually very rarely happens. Only teams that are relegated clear out and even then, they keep hold as many as possible. We're probbarly looking at the same squad with 2/3 additions. Hopefully the squad just want this season to be over, have a break and then come back with a point to prove.
April 17, 201610 yr Conte has a massive job to do after witnessing the shambolic performance yesterday. The Euro's will make the close season longer than normal, add to this the Olympics and the squad will have little time to gel and remove the general malaise that is abundant at the club. Our strategy off the field has to be incisive, business done early and the recruitment has to be right. If we get this wrong this time we could add to the list of fallen giants that litter the league. Next season will be interesting and defining.
April 17, 201610 yr Willian is one who will definitely stay. Arguably the only 1st team player to give 100% all season I just question if he's 100% is good enough for a team that wants to win trophies.
April 17, 201610 yr I just question if he's 100% is good enough for a team that wants to win trophies. William is 100% good enough for a champions league club that wants to win trophies, there is an argument to be made that that is part of the squad ie: 4th attacking midfielder, he has enough about him to be useful and I think would very capable as the attacker in a 3 man midfield, he has the engine pace and can create.

I'd try and get good money for him in the summer.
April 17, 201610 yr We should keep matic. I know there was talk of him beig sold, but think that's premature. I don't know why his form has dropped so much, but there's talk conte likes matic-esque players so hoping he'll bring him back to the beast he was.
April 17, 201610 yr I'd try and get good money for him in the summer. If we sell the ONE guy who gave his all when everybody else downed tools, then we might as well sell the entire squad. ONE man fought for the club with his performances, he deserves to stay more than any other player in our squad
April 17, 201610 yr Maybe Conte's already assessed the squad, decided he's getting rid of the lot. Hence yesterday's pathetic non performance.
April 17, 201610 yr I'd try and get good money for him in the summer. Oscar should be the first to go out of him and willian, would probably get good money for him too especially if you belive the chinese 57m bid

ONE man fought for the club with his performances, he deserves to stay more than any other player in our squadI agree. And I don't even like Willian that much. Really think he is limited in attack but has a great engine and can be very useful. Plus he plays with his heart and we really need to keep such players. Oscar is the first one that I would sell.

ONE man fought for the club with his performances, he deserves to stay more than any other player in our squad Totally agree. I can't understand why some people want us to sell Willian. Personally I think Willian has earned the privilege to choose whether to stay out go. If he chooses to go, fans should not hold that against him. I hope he stays, but I wouldn't begrudge him requesting a transfer either. It's pretty unpleasant being in a workplace with a bunch of colleagues who can't care less.
April 17, 201610 yr Someone can have the privilege to leave Chelsea because they run a lot. Give me 100k a week and I'll run for ya. William is very limited in attack and doesn't create a lot, tbh has he done anything this second half of the season. Yes he runs a lot, didn't see much of it against City though. William is a player if someone puts in a good offer you would probably sell him. But he won't be gone because Chelsea won't be selling too many players.

ONE man fought for the club with his performances, he deserves to stay more than any other player in our squad I agree. Now is not the time to sell him especially given the lack of attitude our other players have. He's good enough to continue with so long as he's not relied on to score
April 18, 201610 yr Now is the perfect time to sell him. His stock is higher after looking better than he actually is in this god awful team. Matic, Oscar, Mikel, Willian, Cuadrado, Salah, Ivanovic, Cahill and Remy should all be sold for decent money. We could receive 150m+ for these players in this inflated market and let Conte bring in his own players.

Some people are desperate to hang on to Hazard, and he wont even run for 200k a week. A player putting effort in is a bloody luxury this season. If nothing else it shows his mentality, he will dig in whatever the circumstances. Others wont

A player putting effort in is a bloody luxury this season. If nothing else it shows his mentality, he will dig in whatever the circumstances. Others wont You can always find players to dig in, Milner and Ramires. There's only room for one runner in a team. But saying you earn the privelage to stay or not because you run is abit overboard. If Hazard wants to leave let him leave, no point in keeping unhappy players.
