Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Featured Replies

We will never sell 6 or 7 main players in one window, replace them all and expect them to gel straight away.

We'll probably end up buying a couple big names at most.

Even if they don't gel straight away, can't be much worse than this season. I say f**k it, clear out all the sh*t and get some decent players who want to play for the club.

If we sell the ONE guy who gave his all when everybody else downed tools, then we might as well sell the entire squad. ONE man fought for the club with his performances, he deserves to stay more than any other player in our squad

Mikel?

Now is the perfect time to sell him. His stock is higher after looking better than he actually is in this god awful team.

Matic, Oscar, Mikel, Willian, Cuadrado, Salah, Ivanovic, Cahill and Remy should all be sold for decent money.

We could receive 150m+ for these players in this inflated market and let Conte bring in his own players.

Pretty sure Salah has been sold hasn't he. I think Cuadrado, Cahill, William and Matic deserve another season. Cuadrado was never given a fair go like Salah wasn't. There's a good player in Matic, just had an awful season. How much would we get for Cahill? Surely he is a good squad player with Zouma, Terry and one other CB. Get Ake back in the squad.

I would defiantly sell Oscar and Mikel. Remy hasn't had much of chance but his always injured. Ivanovic should be sold but that won't ever happen.

I wouldn't be suprised if there was only 2-3 big signings, but Chelsea also need player to bolster the squad like up front and in midfield.

I agree. We won't sell everyone but Conte will want big changes I'd imagine. Also Conte is a believer of players fighting for the first team. That's why he loves players like Marchisio; a player underrated because he was surrounded by Pirlo, Vidal, Pogba, yet managers simply cannot drop him. Conte will bring players with such attitutde to Chelsea and to do so, we need rid of the players who treat this club like a holiday camp.

Well that is the idea behind a clear-out.

What we should and what we will do are two different things though.

i think we won't AND shouldn't do any clear out. it's much more feasible and wiser to build from current squad rather than from scratch

People are our kidding themselves if they think Conte is going to com in and have a massive cull. He will rely on senior players initially unless he's under instruction from the uppers, and I doubt he would take the job if he was. Maybe next summer (possibly January) he will tear the squad up but I'm almost certain it won't be this summer .

Not only that - courtois, hazard, costa might all be on the way out. XI will be drastically different in 15-16. Fingers crossed for Vidal and/or pogba

Highly doubt you will see all these first teamers leaving.  Most likely to go: Oscar, Remy, Matic.

Conte wants to keep Hazard from all reports and apparently Diego has said he will stay as well.  I think we will see Conte strengthening our spine this upcoming summer window.  Center Half, Holding Mid or two, and a backup ST.  Once we get back to top 4 we will have the opportunity to clear house.

Cuadrado and Ivanovic almost definitely out (Cuadrado obv not a first teamer), in addition to the failed loanees - Don't see Mikel, Cahill or Wilian going anywhere as above poster mentioned.

Don't see Ivan moving. The whole club loves him for some reason. Stop living in the past...

Until Guus publically took his foot of the accellerator, which I am quite angry about, we were unbeaten in the league this calendar year. The squad is okay it just needs a little investment and redirection.

Conte will be fine.

I dont blame Guus for that. Everyone else has taken their foot off, why should he waste his energy trying to drag along a group of players who dont want to try? He's semi retired, he might as well just sit back and enjoy his last few weeks on a training ground before riding off into the sunset. Doesn't affect him in any way and I certainly dont hold it against him.

I hear what you are saying, and it wasn't a dig at Guus alone. Love the man.

But I still maintain and always will that letting the season just fizzle out is almost embarrassing as our title defence. If we had won the last two and turned a couple of draws into wins (which was there) we would be knocking on the door of the top 4.. 3 points behind Man utd and 7 behind Arsenal with 4 to play. what a turn around that would be and a great platform for next season.... Plus above Liverpool and West Ham (motivation in itself) and we would be in good shape/motivation to beat Spurs which to me is becoming a must do !    even 7 or 8 matches ago some were saying season over.

Anyway I digress, this thread is about the squad and Conte.... they will be fine I am looking forward to it.

Because he`s a manager, and that's part of his job, and hes being paid a hell of a lot of money to get these players producing for fans who are paying a hell of a lot of money to watch them. If the whole club has decided not to bother then tell us and we will just stop watching from now until the start of next season, stop buying merchandise, stop everything. Its taking the piss massively.

The points he made looked very familiar, but obviously you'd expect people to share different views. Some just looked eerily so.

Decent article though.

Yup agreed, To be honest, unless something drastically changes, we won't remain a top 4 team. Conte is not a magician, neither was Jose. I found the point of us becoming more arsenal in our transfers most pertinent. We have been happy to leave top talents and instead of replacing with WC players, we settle for 3-4 mediocre players. That was the arsenal approach before they realized they need players like Sanchez and Ozil. Neymar, Aguero, D. Costa, Suarez, etc. We had potential to go and get them but settled for mediocre players. Granted we cannot buy everyone but be smarter at least in your transfers.

It was interesting that Fabregas said on Monday that Conte doesn't want a transitional period and wants to win trophies.

I wonder how that will impact the squad and planning. I'm surprised and a little taken back by that statement. I thought we needed a rebuild, not another quick win trophies.
