Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

We're not Man City, we're no longer the big boys with the big cash.
We can't afford to keep replacing managers when we no longer have infinite cash to help them achieve their desired formations and squads.

Unfortunately we can and we do, because apparently statistically our model is the most successful in recent times. Of course in ten years time we'll all be looking back throwing scorn on the idiotic board that perpetuated this merry go round and god alone knows where we will be by then. But for now they can all point to the stats...and forget progression, stability and entertainment.

We'll be running out of decent candidates by 2025 I reckon...then we'll be looking at the Tony Pullis's of the world, it would be fitting of our team by then I think the way our transfer policy appears to be working.

This from Tibo...just talk or a genuine belief about the manager?

‘We believe in him [Antonio Conte] and we believe in our team. We have two bad results and we just try to get back, regroup and just continue. We showed that we wanted to fight even with 10 men and that shows we have character, but when you lose twice like that it is not good and there are questions raised, but we go back to training with the manager, and training well and turn this situation around.

I never doubted that the team tried to fight their way out of it after Bakayoko left the pith, which in itself proves the point that many have made in that a number of the players are just found wanting in all of the critical areas.

I would have fought like a dog the entire game, not just when Baka went off. I would have hard the heart of a lion. Of course it wouldn't have made any difference...because I'm sh!t..as is Cahill and certain others!

Where is the big boys, that defend the board, where are ?

"About the transfer market, from the summer, the club decides every single player that comes here," Conte said after the Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal.

"My first task is to do my job, to be a coach and to try to improve my players. For sure, I don't have a big impact on the transfer market."

Who`s fault is it now ? Tell me a manager that will be happy with that, after he won the Premier League with a lot lesser squad then City and United ???

And i don`t see why you make 20 threads about new manager, when he will come to the same situation. And you will still say the same b.c.

But why i`m amazed, after the 3 bad result last year, before the winning streak, after Arsenal defeat, there was people that asked Conte to be sacked.
If Conte was at Liverpool or United for example, even City, they would have give to him everything they could and their fan probably would have die for him. I doubt anyone would have type such b.c. as people here.

You all should be ashamed.

Thinking of where our league position will likely be by then, perhaps Simon Grayson or Nigel Clough!

Do not forget those woeful Norwich performances!

That was the Championship side he was talking about.

I'm on the fence with the whole Conte situation. IMO he was set up for failure with the failure of the club to get any signings that would make a difference. Without Diego, we have no one who will fight for a win. Who ever's decision that was to let him go was straight up wrong. I feel even though Conte makes the same squad picks week in week out, he's screwed even if he chooses someone else. He played Barkley last week, nothing. Do you guys really think Hudson-Odoi would have been a game changer in this match or the last had he played more time? Giroud and Palmieri also could have started but have been with the club just a hand full of days so I doubt things would have been different yet again.

The one thing I really disagree with Conte on is Bakayoko and Cahill continuing to start. Neither should have a spot in the starting lineup but without Bakayoko who are we going to stick in? Fabs and Kante, Fabs cannot defend without the risk of getting a couple yellow cards, Drinky and Kante don't offer any creativity going forward. Have we seen a  Kante, Fabs, and Drinky combo yet?

I really have no answer for the slump we're in but I don't think sacking the manager is the way to go. We we let Mourino go last time it's not like we made a complete 180 and ran out the rest of the games winning with Hiddink.

I was expecting him to be sacked this morning if it was going to happen.

He actually has a whole week to prepare for the next game and work with his players for the first time in a while. Let’s see what response they come up with against West Brom.

Conte is clearly trying to get sacked. By selecting Cahill and Bakayoko for every game he is like a tennis player starting each game at 0-30. The next manager is likely to be someone unexpected, like Grant. And the team is f...ked after the recent transfers. We are in serious danger of relegation next season.

That’s an overreaction but our last 3 transfer seasons are completely unacceptable, seriously who have we signed but Kante who has proven their worth so far ? Alonso, Pedro maybe ? Shocking.

BBC (Simon Stone) now reporting Conte will stay in charge, at least for now.

A sacking was not disscused in the wake of recent results, mainly because we're still in 2 competitions and in top 4, like almost everyone predicted it's the mainly reason.

So, I guess a trashing by Barca may get him sack eventually?

I think Morata has gone missing...mentally... and that's why he's not playing.  He was fine when he last played and then suddenly picks up a back injury for this length of time with no mention of him returning.  I think his confidence is totally shot after the Arsenal games and we won't see him for a few weeks yet..although maybe against Hull in the hope he scores....this is just another reason for Conte to be pissed

The thing I don't understand about calling for his sacking is at the beginning of the season most everyone said they expected a top 4 finish, where we're at right now, a good run in the CL which is still possible, and a good run in the FA cup, still possible. Yes, we got knocked out of the Carabou Cup but in the semifinals which is also a deep run.

So Conte is, at this point, meeting everyones expectations of this season.

Only on paper you could justify it, but if you watched us this year you would know something isn't right.

These are big signs of two years ago when we finished 10th in the league, we are without a doubt the weakest team in the top 6 at the moment. That shouldn't be the case but it is, our transfers look more grim than usual for the past few years, not many positives to take on. I'm also a huge Morata fan and have faith in him but recent events have been unacceptable, you need to rely on strikers more than anyone.

Who here genuinely believes we can finish in the top 6 if we keep playing like we currently are? I don't think you'll have one person agreeing with you and I don't think many people are confident we are going to return these performances around until something changes. It's the culture of the club at the moment, Conte is a victim of it as much as he's at fault for many things.

Regardless of the idiosyncrasies of the board,Conte is paid very well to do a job for the club. For the past month he has posted a sullen figure of himself, dragging the team down with him. Last night he acknowledged the team started slowly( a trait very evident under his tenure) and he picked the wrong starting eleven. Personally I think it beggars belief he didn't think a left side of Cahill, Zappacosta, Bakayoko and Pedro backed up by Luiz in the centre all of whom have either regressed or simply not good enough, was strong enough and wouldn't get targetted. We all watched as the horror performance by Bakayoko unfolded for 30 minutes, would He hook him, change things around? Nope not a jot, he allowed things to happen. Not what you expect of a world class coach being paid more in a week than many will earn in 10 years, he has taken his eye off the ball, allowed his squabbles to stop him doing the job he's good at. He is posturing for a good payoff, daring the owner to sack him like so many before.

So Antonio, why not  show good a coach you are, see the job through and stop with your miserable demeanour. Keep the whinging for the close season behind closed doors and if you must then depart, so be it. If though you can't put your differences behind you and coach to the best of your ability with a smile on your face, maybe it's for the best you go now.

Conte does deserve the right to defend himself :laugh2: Like everything Conte says is gospel, Tibo just said Chelsea showed fight with 10 men, what losing with 4-1 against the most out of form team in the league, don't take everything said as the whole truth, Conte is just covering his own arse.

You only really take notice of the FA Cup when you get to the business end of the competition, if Chelsea got anyone good so far they would have been out on current performance, it's all about luck of the draw and Arsenal have been very lucky the last 3 years. Same with the league Cup, you only take notice at the business end and Conte f**ked it. On current form we won't be getting any further in the CL. Chelsea have to beat West Brom now with Utd and City coming up, 0 or 1 point from them and the season could well be over.

I doubt many would have said at the beginning of the season we're going to struggle and Conte will be on the verge of being sacked.

The 15/16 season started out rough and didn't get any better, hell, we were CLOSE to the relegation for a few weeks. This year we've been in the top 6 all season. Again I agree with our signings. If you look at 14/15 we had a great window and we won the league.

So you thought going into Christmas that we would have a huge slump through January? We nearly won our group stage in the CL. We beat ManU, beat Spurs and were doing well in the domestic cups.

And yes, I do believe we will finish top 6, I believe will be top 4.

Again, I do blame Conte for squad choices, not the state the squad is in though.

AS i said we will see. Time will tell. I was right in the summer. This talk is from this summer. Why he didn`t say even 1 bad word last season ? He was taking all the blame last season. It`s obvious board f**k*** up. You have to be blind to not see that.

Even though the board failed to get his targets, this squad should still be good enough to beat the likes of bournemouth, burnley, watford, norwich etc. At some point we have to stop looking at the board and look at the man picking the team and tactics, and also the players on the pitch.
