Stuff like "genuine title contenders" "hard to beat" is jumping the gun I think.

We've played 3 of the worst 6 sides in the league and a West Ham side that have had a shambolic start to the season. Keep the feet on the ground for now i'd advise.

Whatever the case, I am just happy there is fire and passion in the team again! I honestly was getting bored with football, and just didn't feel the same interest for Chelsea -- purely because to me the players seemed disinterested (bar a few exceptions like Azpi who always seem to try their best). Finally I can watch these games, and win or lose, at least I am not watching with apathy.

Last games loss for example stirred up many emotions in me I haven't had for awhile. But that is exactly what football is about.

Win or lose, atleast we are showing fight and passion now! And I think grit alone goes along way in the Premier League. Let's just hope we can maintain this and it doesn't fizzle out.

I don't disagree, and the next two matches will tell us a great deal more about our chances this season.

That said, the corresponding fixtures last season saw us draw at home to West Ham, draw at Watford away, and lose at Swansea away. A 2 point haul compared to the 7 we have gained this season (plus a win at home to Burnley), so the results are clearly better as are the performances, so there are reasons to be cheerful.

But at the start of the season, we're tagged as that and rightfully so because we got the money to invest. I think it is good that we aim for the top that way, we'll have a higher chance to reach that. If the mentality is just Top 5 or mid table, than that's effed up.

This week will be the real test, good thing is Conte won't have problems motivating players. I thought he let the game drift along just like his players, he could have went for the kill or making the change immediately after their goal.

some fans pointed out that he was partially at fault during our draw at Swansea, especially regarding his subs

I have to agree with them, on the second half it was clear we couldn't kill them right off, so i was waiting for him to sub cesc or batshuayi, but both came much latter in the match which was already too late

Conte needs to work on his decision making. his sub was also a bit late during Watford game

Maybe it seems unfair, but there are several indicators that Fabregas maybe won't be able to cut it as a starter in Conte's systems.

Given his normal lack of athleticism, coming on as a sub in the dying minutes against backpedalling defenses is a very different proposition to wresting momentum from teams at the start of the game.

He's a good tactician! Motivator, I think not really.

What do you base that on, because before he arrived all the stories from his ex players pointed to him being an outstanding motivator, in fact that was often made out to be his most impressive characteristic.

From Italy games. I think players only said that because of how Mourinho was.

Huh? Not sure what mourinho has to do with it, I was meaning Contes old players, juve , Italy etc.

apart from hugely disagreeing about conte not being a motivator, hell it was even one of his main traits as a player, i think you could discuss how motivation is done.

the most important trait as a manager is obviously tactical knowledge of the game. conte has been a main player under two of the greatest pure tacticans ever in lippi and sacchi and he's turned one club completely around (juve was 7th and 8th before he took over). it's quite obvious that conte has the tactical side to his managerial game, this is based on quotes made by juve players, italy players and our players ("we know exactly how to react to situations"-comments made by players).

then there is the feeling about how a match is played out, knowing how to react and when. call it gut feeling or instinct or just knowledge of your own and opposing players, but conte has turned two out of four games on its head, one where his 4-4-2 formation literally worked 100% (bats heading down to costa vs west ham) and one where fabregas assisted costa with an inch perfect through ball.

now over to the main question, how is motivation done? by shouting and screaming or by telling our players exactly how a match will pan out if they do it correctly (as any manager with confidence will claim to know)? well, conte's got 'em both, and he has proven his worth for six years now.

fwiw i think that conte is a generational manager talent, just as mourinho was and guardiola is. i have no doubt in my mind that we have one of the top four-five coaches in the league and i can't wait for the journey he's taking us on. for the first time since probably mourinho's first spell here i'm actually giddy about the next game seconds after the last one is finished.

Sorry. I meant Conte. Conte wasn't really a good motivational speaker.

OT: My views are changing after he said today Cesc Fabregas will stay.

Man U looking laboured and stale, I was fuming when we lost Mou but I'm convinced we landed a better manager

Have you read Roy Keane's comments? That Mou is not really the special one, Pep is.

Lol yea I was watching it with my Pal who is unfortunately a Man U fan and he told me the same thing, the least we can say is he got his team playing his way far quicker, and he is the one new to the league, make of it as you will.

Bemused by all the comments recently that he doesn't change things enough often citing the timing of substitutions.

People do realise a coach can changes things without needing to use substitutes right?

Seems like that some posters unless they see a literal change don't think Conte is doing anything.
