December 27, 201510 yr The disaster of a season has been self inflicted and caused by Mourinho. We may have not been first or second but 100% Jose's petulant actions and decision making were a massive detriment to this club. It really grinds my gears how he somewhat thought he was bigger than the club and some of our fans will just lap up anything he says. Every week I read stupid excuse after stupid excuse which was highly embarasssing only for his worshipers to say he was on a mastemind trick taking pressure of the team. Next week same rubbish performance and same outburst. Ive also seen some so called Chelsea fans wishing him luck in his new job hoping that he succeeds, sticks to fingers up at the club and makes us regret sacking him. Imo that is a foolish and dis loyal outlook. If he goes to Utd he is the enemy it is as simple as that. The only disloyal ones are the club hierarchy who decided to fire him over his misfiring players. Even I say there's no place in modern day football for managers to get "time" but you don't sack a manager once before and go on a managerial merry go round and in the course of it win everything then bring the man who everyone knows always will feature in a top 3 list. If you want relevance not short term trophy wins but actual relevance and respect in the football world you back that man over the players. That's what Fergie had. Be hard for any modern day manager to stand similar chance against today's primadonna footballers but you fire a man in December after a double win the previous season and a contract extension you're fickle and don't deserve his loyalty. Let's call a spade a spade in world football today despite their current travails Man Utd is a bigger club than Chelsea and the best managers will attract the attention of the big clubs. A lot was said about Bobby Charlton's opposition to Mourinho managing them but how come the rumours are rife. It's because on a real level people know Mou has the ability to do a job at Man Utd. The board weren't disloyal when they sold a long term servant against the manager's wish to a direct rival but the manager is disloyal if he gets sacked and joins a direct rival?Give him a break!!
December 28, 201510 yr Anyone in any doubt over the hierarchy's part in our downfall should just see sky's summary of Jose's demise...they go back to an interview they did with him on the pitch after we lifted the league trophy and even then he was saying, cfc need to get better and to do that we must sign players to improve the team...what was he given? Squad buys in Begovic, baba, Pedro, Kenedy...yes he made mistakes, but the biggest of the lot was the club not buying talent to take us in to another level and send message to the current players not to take their place in the team for granted

December 28, 201510 yr No point here Well...Brit's 'point' was fairly obvious. Perhaps you should go back and read what he had to say again.
December 28, 201510 yr You know some people are infatuated with Jose that they believe he doesn't make mistakes So you & others keep trotting out. Can you do me a favour? I want you to go back through the entirety of this thread if need be and isolate one post wherein a poster has stated that Jose 'doesn't make mistakes', 'has never made mistakes' etc etc.

Like lots of level headed fellas said, bad season for club like chelsea is languishing around top 6 and I doubt he would be sacked if that's the case.. do you know that arsenal only got cech during the summer? didn't see them collapsing the same way.. With this so much talk about he's not backed in transfer, who do you think he should be given? give me names and lets see if it's realistic..
December 28, 201510 yr Can someone please tell me how the board didn't back Jose with substantial proof?! Someone name these targets Jose wanted who were more than just squad players? Pogba? The guy cost 70+ million, he didnt want to leave Juve and Abister says Utd are bigger than Chelsea, well Barca are bigger than Chelsea and maybe Pogba was holding out. Verdict- NOT THE BOARDS FAULT!! Stones? Everton were intent that he is not for sale hence why they put a ridiculous 50m price tag on his head. As good as he is, that sum is daylight robbery and the board can't just throw silly figures like that around. Verdict - NOT THE BOARDS FAULT Douglas Costa and Vidal? Both quality players and wouldve improved Chelsea and with the market so small, surely Jose had his eye on these two. However,.Bayern are bigger and better than Chelsea, Vidals footballing roots are also in Germany so it was a no brainer. Verdict - NOT THE BOARDS FAULT So here we have it, good examples and reasoning why the board are not to blame. Can one of Mourinhos loyal servants please put a case with clear examples of how the board didn't back him....

Can one of Mourinhos loyal servants please put a case with clear examples of how the board didn't back him.... I've not talked about issues I know nothing about. I don't make arguments based on speculation. Only fachts like our Spanish waiter would say. I love Mourinho no apology. He changed the game believe it or not. I don't like him so much now cos I feel he got a lot of things wrong and so stubborn and unwilling to learn from his mistakes. The board doesn't have to deliver top signings every year to be competitive. We shouldn't be in the bottom 5 after 10 games and that's where you know players are selling manager down a river. It's the same manager and same players that achieved success so fault can't be just with the manager. The so called Hazard and Oscar and others were here two seasons ago why didn't they win the league for us. I'm not upset they didn't. Winning is not any one teams' sole right. Just don't call a man whose job description is managing top football teams disloyal because he gets sacked from one top club and goes to another top club.... In football today not a lot of managers will stand up for a club in the way he did for us at the risk of his own integrity.
December 28, 201510 yr skip to 20:30 and listen to what Jose said about transfers and new players. He said the team needed new fresh blood, to give the current players competition, to put them under pressure. He didn't want the current stars to be complacent because what they did last year (champions), nobody should be an automatic starter. And later in another interview he said: “We have to improve. If we have the same team the other teams will be better than us,” Mourinho said on BT Sport. “If I keep Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic, Branislav Ivanovic, Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas - for us that’s the first target. “I think we need three (new) players. A striker because we lost our legend (Didier Drogba), a defender and a midfield player. “(It will) give a little bit more competitiveness to the squad, bring some new blood in, put some players a little bit under pressure. “They know they have someone waiting, I need that to support my way of working. “Now they’re the champions I need that but basically the same squad, the same team, the same manager and stability in the club.” http://www.london24.com/sport/football/clubs/chelsea/jose_mourinho_reveals_chelsea_summer_transfer_plans_and_fires_warning_to_arsenal_manchester_city_and_manchester_united_1_4105454So was Jose backed at all? The answer is clearly no, we don't even have to argue about it. 33 reports of loaned players, the departure of Cech, Hector and Djilbodji summed up the ambitions and the backing the club gave to Jose. But is it an excuse for sitting at 16th? Also no, but you must also look at these players. They played without pride, without the intention to fight for the club. No matter who the manager is, what tactics we use, how bad the atmosphere is, there is absolutely no excuse for the players to perform this bad. Have you ever seen Lampard, DD, Essien, Ballack, Maka, Cole, Ricky etc. sitting at 16th? No. Edited December 28, 201510 yr by jk88

Lack of transfers should also not mean that the players are mental drained. With such a small squad, Jose needed to manage his resources better which he totally did not.
December 28, 201510 yr He will soon be kick starting the man united machine. Even though Woodward is pretty much a clown, at least they're actually supporting their managers there. Mourinho building his team with full control professionally means success. He wouldn't have some useless, unqualified rat sitting two rows above the bench waiting to pass misleading info with rotten agendas. Mourinho's Utd are probably winning the title next year with a few smart additions. We're probably winning our board's favorite game, "Roman's lunatic musical chairs".
December 28, 201510 yr 3 games same team as Jose, only result that may have been different is Watford because Costa had clearly no interest in playing for Jose.
December 28, 201510 yr LOL hilarious some think the board are blameless with the Stones negotiation disaster. "But they offered 50 million, what more could they do?" 1) be aware of the negotiating environment including how Everton fans would react to a long drawn public negotiation for their most promising asset. 2) start with a private bid 3) if making a bid public, offer an amount that isn't derision to the point of bordering on insulting (how hard would we laugh if they came in like that for Zouma? He isn't even home grown lol) 4) give the selling club enough time to line up replacements for their first team regular.... and especially so if making the bidding process so the selling club won't be held hostage to their big fee when shipping for replacements. It should be pretty obvious that the only reason why ridiculous amounts had to be offered ( and why Everton seemed to turn them down on the point of principle) is because the whole attempt was a joke. It was a complete mockery compared to how transfers were handled a year prior. Any competent professional negotiator who is familiar with the industry would of seen the coming disaster right from the very first bid. That or they didn't have their eye on the ball.
December 29, 201510 yr Good post and sums it up well. Yes he should have been backed but it does not excuse being in 16th. Lack of transfers should also not mean that the players are mental drained. With such a small squad, Jose needed to manage his resources better which he totally did not. I feel that as much as JM has to shoulder some of the blame for this season he was massively let down by the board in the summer. You have a manager that wins you the league but then you dont spend any money to reinforce the squad even though he asked. That is a huge f**k up by the board. Now if JM (and i believe he did), goes to the board with a list of players to buy and those in charge of buying those players fail to land a single one then they should be fired. I dont believe for one second that JM agreed to selling Cech to arsenal, to buy Baba, Djilibodi and Falcao. There is no way in hell that these last 3 players would ever be in contention to challenge for a starting spot. The board f**ked it up and its not the first time. As much as i loved Shevchenko to buy him at the end of his peak and expect him to play, especially when the manager had other ideas is such an example. If Pep comes, he will have a list of players and we better get them because he will not stick around long if we dont. Time for Roman to get a winning manager and let them do what they have to to win, Emenalo and the rest of the board get the players and then sit back and let the manager do his thing. I wonder if we had bought a top level cb, a mf and a striker would we be in the bottom half of the table? Probably not
December 29, 201510 yr If Pep comes, he will have a list of players and we better get them because he will not stick around long if we dont.I don't think Pep will come to Cheksea. He knows about this transfer disaster last summer and I'm sure he doesn't want to deal with this bullsh*t. Edited December 29, 201510 yr by Michael440
December 29, 201510 yr Three games after he's gone and nothing has changed. The club backed the wrong horse by saying the squad is good enough when clearly it isn't. Still think we should have stuck by him, rode out the season and given him free license to overhaul the squad in the summer. I feel like we've set ourselves back three years by letting him go off the back of a title winning season. Guus isn't going to repeat the heroics of his first spell at the club because he doesn't have the squad to do it with.

Not sure Chippy has posted since he was sacked but no doubt he would agree with you, as do I.
December 29, 201510 yr His sacking does seem pointless given zero change in personnel , tactics formation even not risking a youthful striker opting for hazard as false 9 clearly hasntv& will never pay off Seems they removed Jose without a plan B. Rudderless now.
December 29, 201510 yr He can't change the team much in the span of one week, especially this time of year. But in terms of who plays I did expect at least SOME changes.

The tragedy is that 90% of fans, if not more, knew this was the case and vocally supported the manager. And yet the wise old board decided it was time to dispense with Mourinho and back Matic, Hazard and Fabregas to up their form drastically to salvage our season...
