That quote has really been taken out of context, it is a compliment - it's what José has asked from every team he has ever managed. It's what the best sides do, and it certainly doesn't inherently mean a team plays a defensive style. Barca in their pomp under Pep certainly defended with 11 men.

Here's another quote from the same interview:

It was actually a total compliment. I don't know why anyone would be upset about their team being credited with defending with 11 men. That means we are giving it our all every second of every game. It's what every manager should expect of their teams.

Two minds on this. If we didn't defend with 11 we'd be a man down so yea thats what every good team does. Second, I think he's trying to paint a certain picture by saying that instead of they defend as a team. The man is worried and it's a message to every United fan about what good teams do. I've had a look on redcafe and the number of them who aren't happy with the football they are playing is growing by the week. 

For more than one reason it would be so sweet to get an early goal and then thrash them as soon as they start chasing the game. 

It's obviously a massive compliment as it's what he's based his entire managerial career on, some of you loons need to take the tinfoil hats of . 

I imagine Mourinho when his children were born saying they were the most beautiful babies in the world. On here the tin foil hats would twist that to him saying all other babies are ugly. 

Frankly I hope Man Utd defend with 10 men (and we all know they will considering Ibrahimovic doesn't move), because that's not the mark of a great team apparently.

Did his daughter take him shopping up Camden Town or something? He seemed so dark/negative in that interview with Stelling yesterday, Contrasting personality to the infamous not one of the bottle presser. Regardless of what success he has i think United have got the knock off version Mourinho because he seems like an entirely different man now.

Mourinho is strangely quiet the last few days. His mind games have stopped?

London News are showing live footage of two nutters at the top of The Shard threatening to jump.

Both are ranting and swearing and wearing tin foil hats with Ivanov87 and RIP Mourinho written on them.

I know we have been going on and off about Mourinho's personality, but from a football perspective what do you folks think ? Marcus Rashford is looking good, Defensively they are solid. One more spending spree next window and what are the chances that Mourinho will fulfill the second season prophecy at United ?

Exactly he does it at all his clubs, managers tend to do this to get some relationship with the fans. Conte does it here, it's really nothing new. Folk getting pissed off with it need to wake up

So he would have defintely beaten us if he didn't go down to 10 men in the FA cup, that's what the game showed him in his words.

What is he on? Our form dropped massively since then. He probably knew this, played the same way just so he could show it and make that comment. I'm sure he would have changed the system and team if we were better.

We were a different team that day and already had possession of the game.

I notice he didn't bring up the match before that one.

Not really sure why you have decided to attack me here. Does a few cheap likes on a forum really mean that much to you? Embarrassing fella. We support the same team yet you'd rather ridicule me for others approval to make you feel better about yourself. Show a bit of maturity.

Rashford's first good game of the season. Ibra will be back up top next game and Rashford back to being wasted on the wing. However, i do agree that £200m in the summer will definitely make them title challengers next season.

Hardly an 'attack' is it? A humorous sledge is all & let's face it brexiteer - deserved: you'll take any opportunity you can to deride Mourinho & your contempt for same defines you - one only has to look at your choice of user name, avatar & post history to see that. What's 'embarrassing' is your reaction to the sledge. You dish it out constantly when it comes to Mourinho & to those on here who still have some respect for him but when it comes back by way of a playful jibe, it distresses you. If you give it out you've got to expect that at some stage it'll come back - so grow up & have a bit of a laugh at yourself.
