Jose Mourinho thread

How likely is that looking?

If we win all our games up to and including United away, we'd have 81 points.  Not enough to win the title unfortunately unless Spurs and City go on an unprecedented losing streak.

Yeah I worked out that if both City and spurs lose all the games upto the Manure one and we win all of ours, that's  the only way we can win it at theirs.

I know Jose's moaning about fixture congestion can be really irritating but as things stand United have 8 games in the month of April with the possibility of the Manchester derby being squeezed in as well. In contrast Liverpool have only 5 games. that's going to make it tough for United to finish 4th

He should be grateful we knocked them out the FA cup then

Managers have been moaning about this in England for years, and I think they have a point.  For one, we have an extra cup compared everyone else (League Cup).  Other leagues also get a winter break, while we pile on the games.  By the time the CL knockouts come about things start getting really jammed if you're still involved in all competitions, with April and May often getting ridiculous as it will for United this year.  It'd be nice if the FA thought about scheduling more games in the slower period before Christmas to lighten the load at the business end of the season.  Maybe then PL clubs wouldn't be so consistently disappointing in the European cups.

At one point today, apparently Jose had 7...yes, 7 defenders on the pitch.

Talk about being defensive.

“I don’t think about the gap, just the evolution of the team. The dominance, quality and beauty of our football, we are not a team that defends and waits for opponent’s mistake.

Utd played with a back 3 apparently. I would still say Young and Valencia are more wingers than defenders but they played wingback. Then look at the bench and there was only Martial and Mkhitaryan attacking wise on the bench. Darmian came on in the 94th min to time waste.

Rojo came on for Mata with 20mins left to play after playing 90mins midweek and including all the games they have played recently. Mkhitaryan played 90mins midweek. They also had quite a few injuries and Herrera suspended.

Mourinho needs to change his tactics if he wants to win the league again, in the current era you can't sit on a 1 or 2 goal lead especially with a defense which includes Rojo, Smalling & Jones

I was surprised at how defensive he got against Boro and it nearly cost them a win for the umpteenth time

Woke up this morning feeling fine
Got Man United on my mind
Jose's got us playing the way United should, oh yeah

Something tells me I'm into something good.

Mourinho appears delighted with the chant, as he told Portuguese TV this week: "The song that the supporters dedicate to me, in contrast to other clubs where the chants were related to my name or Special One, or the Portuguese One; here it's something where they are feeling good and are happy with the way I am leading them."

Shots fired again?

Jose is and always was about winning at all cost, he would have played 9 defenders if he has that many on the bench. I found the tunnel celebration after the GK's mistake was bad taste to say the least. What's that thing about showing respect and class after a win, and not over the top celebration?

Yet every week we are gushing over Conte's latest goal celebration. Bit rich for us to then turn around and call other managers overdoing it no ? If Jose hung off the dugout would that be fine?

No, it wouldn't be because he's no longer Chelsea!

Have never liked the way Jose goes and shakes opposition manager's hand before the end of the game when he knows the game is won and then disappears down the tunnel. Just not the done thing.

Looking back to our 4-0 drubbing, think Conte missed a trick. At 4-0 after 70 minutes, he should have gone up to Jose, shook his hand and said I'm just off to crack open the bubbly and run myself a bath!!

It's just rude and classless, which sums the man up really.

I used to cringe when he did that because it was needlessly rude. There's no need to further humiliate an opposition manager whose team is already losing and probably about to get fired. Loved it when Roy keane told him to shove it during the villa game.

In case of Jose, I don't think so. I mean, he was the one who told Conte that it's bad form to celebrate too wildly when you're winning. He was the one calling for respect from rival managers, so I think it's fair play to call him out for it when he doesn't do it himself.
