Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Forget Higuain, get rid of Morata, rotate Michy and Giroud on form, until June. Then decide on Tammy, Michy and any other striking options.

f**ks sake....

what?

Morata - 40-50m (value gone down)

Bats - 30m

Bakayoko - 30m

Stinkwater - Lucky if we get anthing more than 10m

Zappacosta - 15m

Thats about 125m we're looking at from selling deadwood garbage

Why not give him a run in the team until the end of the season to see what he can do? For me he was always at his best when he got a few consecutive games; we always saw his worst when he was thrown in after a long spell on the bench. Can't be worse than Giroud/Morata and would save us the embarrassment of bringing in Higuain, who will inevitably fail to solve our problems

Not good enough for Dortmund (who coincidentally look a different team without him), not good enough for Valencia.

Sell.

Wait what? Dortmund wanted to buy him In the summer based on his success there, but we demanded £50m. They moved on & signed Paco Alcacer on loan

He's still a good player, I say give him some opportunities here and let him prove himself, we don't really get much for selling him right now do we?

Here are some talking points I grabbed from that article:

Valencia coach Marcelino subbed Batshuayi, 25, after he missed a sitter in Tuesday's 2-1 Copa del Rey loss to second-tier Sporting Gijon.
Afterwards Marcelino raged: "I think we have to get in some strikers. I've clearly run out of patience with certain individuals.
"We could have gone in front in the first minute. It was the best opportunity I have seen us create for six months.
"If you can't even get a shot in on target you are not fit to play in the Primera Liga for Valencia.

Galatasaray are understood to want Batshuayi on loan for the rest of the season.

If thats how he talks about his players no wonder he's not getting the best from Michy.

supposedly if Valencia don't win this weekend Marcelino will get the sack - Michy is leaving a bad situation IMHO

The kid on loan makes for an easy target for an insecure/undersiege manager.

You can say what you want about the rest of his game, but Michy has produced goals at every stop he's made given the opportunity.

Produced goals? 3 goals in 1,042 minutes this season?

The point being that he's struggling at Valencia under this manager, and it's the outlier for an otherwise productive player.

Fair enough. I'm sure it isn't all his fault and I do like the guy but I'm sorry I just think he's an awful footballer. Batshuayi needs the team to play for him when it should be vice versa, that's why Alcacer has been a hit at Dortmund, and what Valencia are missing IMHO.

Being a good footballer got us Morata, we need a poaching goal machine.

I agree, I think it's at least worth giving a go, I'd just like to see Tammy instead of Batshuayi personally.

I'm not sure we do in all honesty. We don't play enough crosses into the box for a goal poacher to feed off. The likes of Batshuayi and Abraham would be terrible in this squad. We need somebody strong, that has a pace, and can link up well with the attacking players.

Don't get me wrong I'm as pessimistic as you - but if we have Pulisic, CHO, Hazard, Willian delivering the crosses? I think maybe it could work?

But that's the thing, only Hudson-Odoi has shown any desire to put crosses into the box. Willian rarely does it, Hazard is more about taking the player on and trying a shot himself or playing one touch football with the players around him, and I'm not sure how often Pulisic likes to try a cross into the box.

Morata and Giroud aren't good enough, but the pair of them have shown over their careers that they are much better getting on the end of crosses. The pair of them are great with their heads, probably better than any target we are interested in or any of our players out on loan, but we don't give them a chance to score from these situations because we don't put the ball into a dangerous area often enough. Despite how poor Morata has been, I'm certain he would have more goals if we put more crosses into the box like Hudson-Odoi was doing against Forest. If these two are going to struggle, then Batshuayi and Abraham have no hope, because those two are all about goal poaching.

We just don't do enough of it, we are constantly looking to play through packed defenses.

still need a goal scorer, Morata could have got away with being a poor finisher, if he just slotted away the simple chances he was given, and maybe some he made on his own back, then he'd still be our #1. It's all about the conversion of goals, no end product = zero production.

We need both. Best strikers we've had since Roman took over have all been able to link the play and create something for themselves too, Drogba, Anelka, Costa, Crespo, Eidur, Eto'o. Those who have relied on service haven't done as well.
