Best strikers we've had since Roman took over have all been able to link the play and create something for themselves too, Drogba, Anelka, Costa, Crespo, Eidur, Eto'o. Those who have relied on service haven't done as well. That seems to be the problem though - there are no strikers who can both link play and create something for themselves - at least none that are realistically available? Hence out of necessity there's perhaps a need for a poaching goal machine.
January 10, 20197 yr Everton are reportedly interested in signing Batshuayi, with an £18million move mooted for the 25-year-old.https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/batshuayi-leave-valencia-early-amid-everton-rumours

We should be squeezing af least £30m out of someone for him.
January 11, 20197 yr Another waste of money. We paid £32m for him. If Conte didn’t rate him at all and Sarri was happy to see him go out on loan, is he really all that?

As someone else pointed out - If Solanke went for 19 mill then Michy is easily worth the 32. I would prefer we sell him to Dortmund/Milan than Everton or Crystal Palace.

Whilst you are probably correct, we could say that about a number of players in and around the squad. I confess though, following recent events, my opinion has changed and if we do not sign a striker that can actually shoot, score goals and doesn't collapse every time a defender gets near to him, then I would take Michy back into the team as our main striker. He has an infectious happy approach to playing, rather than the sulking pouty bollox others have displayed recently. Okay, for me he is not a natural for leading the line, and ultimately I don't think he is quite good enough as he has too many errors and lapses in his game, but he can score goals. Maybe not good enough to see us through the latter parts of the CL, but that doesn't look like its happening any time soon anyway. I would bring him back, put him up top and give him a run of games. Hazard on the left of him, CHO on the right of him. It could work. It would be better than some of the turgid offerings we've seen recently, surely. What's to lose?
January 11, 20197 yr Michy knows the club well, knows Hazard very well, wouldn't take time to settle, will score goals, and he's ours. If it was down to me i would also get Tammy back, with Michy and Giroud as back up. Those three until May, when we will have a better picture of the striking situation, we will know more or less by then if Tammy or Michy are worth holding onto. If we get Higuain it'll be a big mistake.
January 11, 20197 yr Gone from being worth maybe £40m in the summer when Dortmund were sniffing abound to about about half that now.... 6 months is a long time in football. Been linked with Everton and Palace for a while now. Hopefully we can negotiate a quick sale this month and put the funds towards strengthening the first team.
January 11, 20197 yr Shame he got injured while on loan at dortmund. He was in form and scoring regularly before that. Since then he hasn't done a whole lot. May as well cash in, it was a bit of a waste of money signing anyway, but how many times have we said that same thing about signings over the past few seasons.
January 11, 20197 yr I think we should sell both Bats and Tammy. Tammy probably end of season. I don't see either as having the quality to be a success at the top level. Think both have good attributes to be decent players yet not at the top. On the other hand CHO does look first team quality.
January 11, 20197 yr He's been another colossal flop unfortunately. Nowhere near good enough for us. Sell him to the highest bidder and move on.
January 13, 20197 yr On the brink of joining Monaco on loan for the remainder of the season. Emanalo making good use of his Chelsea links this week. Henry using his Arsenal and Belgium connections too.

If he can regain any kind of form there.. we should be able to get a full refund on him. 35M for a 25 year old goal scorer is still pretty cheap in this market.
January 13, 20197 yr Never, never, never send a player to a team with amazing big problems, Strider6003!
January 14, 20197 yr What’s the point in loaning him out all the time? If there ever was a time for us to recall him from loan and put him in the squad, now is the time with our striker problems and he doesn’t even get considered. If he can’t get in the team ahead of Morata or Giroud then why are we bothering? I guess we are hoping he has a great season at Monaco so we can sell him for big money. He’s never going to make it here.

You got it... coming off a flop loan at Valencia, Everton offered something like 15M... could have gotten 35M for him from Dortmund no problem last season. so, a successful loan spell, working with Henry, at 25 years old, Batshuayi could be back in the 30+ neighborhood... but you're right, he's never playing for Sarri
January 14, 20197 yr Shame that no one could use Michy, as he looks like a great Premier League striker.

The 25-year-old is currently out on loan with Valencia in Spain, but Los Murciélagos are happy for Batshuayi to leave the club as he's failed to make the sort of impact that he did when he joined Borussia Dortmund last season.
