N'golo Kante - We are not worthy!

Kante has a good outing for Leicester - he saved out bacon a couple of times when The Foxes broke forward - then he did this at the end of the match - had Evans spinning around like a table top

I thought Kante had a mixed game today some good stuff and not so good, that piece though deserved a goal yet there was no-one there for the simple tap in 🙄

I just realized the autocorrection messed up my post 😄 - he did give the ball away in some bad areas, but he made up for that with some timely runs to support the defense - I can remember a couple of times Kante saved both Christensen & Rudiger or Vardy might have scored

Kante saved us a tons of time today. Showed his brilliance. Maybe Frank should go 4-3-3 with Kante in the center. Kovacic and Jorg on his sides. That means Mount is dropped. I wouldn't mind to be honest.

We've started with that Kante/Kovacic/Jorginho midfield combo 6 times this season, and we are won 1 drawn 3 and lost 2 ... (or 1-2-3 if you don't count the Super Cup game as a draw).

It looks good on paper, but doesn't translate very well to results !

Yes. But only because we dont have good forward 3 😕

Results are better with other midfield combinations though ... and they also have to play with the same options ahead of them.

Would Prefer Him To Basically Play Alongside Jorginho, Not Have Him Basically Be A 4th Attacker At Times, Give Jorginho And The Defence A Bit Of Stability Having Him Drop A Bit Further Back

The only good piece of attacking football he produced today. The defensive side of his game was very good though, apart from a few dodgy fouls in dangerous areas.

Had a superb game. Best in months. He was everywhere. Saved our bacon once or twice covering deep. Looks so much better when allowed to play his best game winning the ball back and giving it to others rather than needing tl be the creative fulcrum.

Looking at the way Leicester structured themselves I couldn't help but think how much better we would be set up if we took a similar approach letting Kante mop up everything behind two creative players who press well off the ball.

He was absolutely massive today. He, as he always does when paired with Jorginho, played two roles today, and played them magnificently.

Almost every single Leicester foray forward was broken up by Kanté. If we hadn't had a centre back on a hat trick, he would be our MOTM by a distance.

Our most critical player will probably be criticised for not having played the forward part of the second of his second roles today. Kanté is not to blame for Lampard's mistakes. Kanté played 1-and-a-half roles beyond reproach.

Couldn't agree more. There was at least twice I noticed on Leicester breaks, Kante sprint back and either head away or tackle inside the box while Jorginho was still jogging outside the box despite him being 20m further forward than Jorginho when the break began.

I thought he played well, poor going forward though, which is why we need to revert him back into the old Kante style.

But the thing is, this game was 50/50 possession wise, that's where Kante does better in. I'm still against playing him against sides where we dominate possession.

  • 2 weeks later...

i've read some posts on here, and have disagreed with some posters, but i reckon if we got a mad offer for Kante, i could see him going, the position he is playing, really doesn't suit us or him, the players that Lamps wants, and what we have in the Centre of midfield sees Kante in a weird R.O.M, plus he hasn't had the season he would want, Kova and Jorhi are th best pairing in the middle, so i struggle to see where he really fits in this evolving team, if he could play the 10 role, his aggression and covering would really be a plus in Lamps obvious aggressive press he utilises.

Looks like his energetic play is catching up to him. Injured more times than available lately.

Missing a few games and reigniting the Jorginho/Kovacic pivot might be the best thing for us atm.

He is our highest earner right on £260k/wk? Let me get my coat but there is a conversation to be had sometime in the future.

I want to say but I know I'll get a lot of sh*t for it, so I'll just be a pussy and agree with you instead. I think it'll be a blessing in disguise, particularly for the run of fixtures we have after Spurs.

The conversation should be had this summer. It's an unpopular opinion but it is what it its. Right now we need to focus on building for the future and by the end of next season Kante will be 30.
He had an average season last year and this year he's been poor. Some don't want to admit it but he's really been poor.

He doesn't suit the style of play and unless Lampard is sacked and replaced by someone like Simeone that's not going to change any time soon. PSG have been desperate for him previously and if they come back with a great bid this summer we would have to consider it in my view.

He is only 9 months older than Jorghino and he has a nasty habit of being in teams that win things.

If I was selling one on the basis of contribution I'd sell Jorginho.

If I was selling one in the basis of age... I'd sell Jorginho.

It still boggles my mind that the footballing hipsters are so rusted on to Jorginho and memories of Sarriball that they would sell our only world class player to keep someone who has no outstanding qualities outside of a very strict defined system and role which we stopped using 8 months ago.

Bit harsh. Jorginho points well

I reckon I'm a chance of being a regista in Sarriball. My pointing and yelling is getting very refined this season.

Getting lots of practice as another opposition midfielder runs through untouched while Jorginho runs behind him unable to keep up.

Jorginho's game doesn't rely on pace, Kante's does, I would say Kante has about 2 years of his prime max.

Take it with a pinch of salt...I should add, no real credible sources.

Breaking:

N'Golo Kanté has agreement to leave @ChelseaFC in the summer. PSG & Real Madrid in talks.

#CFC in advance talks with @LCFC regarding Wilfred Ndidi. The player also wishes to leave for new challenge.
