N'golo Kante - We are not worthy!

Would be sensible for Kante to turn down our contracts imo. While injuries mean he will probably never play a full season again you know the likes of Real, Barca, Bayern, PSG and maybe even City would snap him up for the times he is fit and dominates.

I don't see him picking up another major trophy here and, at 31 with regular injuries, time is limited on his top flight career. A move to those sides would be a cast iron guarantee of silverware and medals before he hangs up the boots.

The only team out of the ones you mentioned that I can actually see Kante going to is PSG. They would definitely offer him a nice contract and he's kind of home grown so they would just save him for the big CL clashes.

I reckon Real sign him on a free. Rudiger is good friends with him, Real have not signed a replacement for Casemiro and Kante could be saved for the big games easily with the two young guys doing the dirty work against most of the league.

Tchouameni ?

Signed before casemiro was even linked to go so don't think he was signed as an immediate replacement. Probably long term but not immediate plan I think.

With the possible exception of PSG I'd be stunned if any of those clubs went near him (working on the premise he would want with them the wages/contract he allegedly wants here).

Real let one of their most succesful ever players go because they didn't want to compete with the package United were offering him and unlike Kante he's still close to the top of his game consistently.

City wouldn't need him whatsoever, if Pep raided us for a CM in one of those two advanced 8 positions he'd look at Kova long before Kante.

Barca are far too invested in Pedri/Gavi to bother unless Xavi loses his marbles and thinks he can play him as the sitting DM.

Bayern won't commit to his wages and have Gravenberg in his position.

Logically we should give him the 4 year deal he is allegedly asking for and then add another 4 years on top. He will still only be the same age as Silva is now and by then the advances in human cloning technology should mean we can clone any of the Kante triplets.

Yeah why not !! Clone 3 Kante 🤥 and lose any chance of creating a goal. But you have hard working CM run around all over the places. But no vision and passing forward. ===> starve attackers out of opportunity ==== > blaming them and buy new attackers.
then All 3 of Kante clones are injured for 3 month 🙄 and Chelsea are bad again.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I think it all comes down to his contract demand. It is a complicated one, when healthy you have one of the best midfielder in the world but he can only play maybe 30 games per season.

Lol.. have you watched Madrid lately? He is a key player for them, 5 starts in 6 games with 2 assists. They didn’t spend €80m on him to warm the bench.

No have not watched them. Just know he was bought before Casemiro was even mentioned moving and they were not looking to sell him. He is getting a lot more time because Casemiro left.

Even in his prime I don't think Kante would have ever got a game for many actual top sides that challenge for titles year in year out.

He's excelled in cup competitions and counter attacking underdog teams.

But the top teams that set out to dominate every game like City, Barca or Bayern he has some very serious technical flaws and weaknesses in possession that would hold the team back,  we've seen them here.

I find it really hard to imagine Pep ever picking a player as technically limited as Kante in his midfield.

This.

I was talking to a mate of mine about our best ever midfield, and we both agreed it was the 2006-2008 period of Lampard, Makelele, and Essien.

We then started talking about if Kante would ever get in that midfield. Essien was a shout but we then realised how complete of a player peak Michael Essien was. Literally could do anything in every third of the pitch.

Even Kante at his best had vast limitations in the attacking end.

That ones a big call. A team isn't just made up of all technically brilliant footballers. Zidane himself recognised the worth of his water carrier. Consecutive league champion with different clubs, World Cup winner, Champions league winner and a destroyer with an energy and aggressive tempo laregly unmatched throughout Europe at one point. I think any of the elite clubs would have found space for a player like Kante who, to quote Liam Neeson, is a player with a very particular set of skills, skills he has acquired over a very long career, skills that make him a nightmare for opposition midfielders.

In a world where I have watched the game I love be handed over to a bunch of self absorbed, Alice band wearing, plastic cheats and Nancy boys, Kante has been one of a select few men of integrity in our game.

That's just my opinion but I think he would have found a home anywhere tbh.

I didn't want this at the time as i genuinely thought we had a title chance in 21/22 but in hindsight maybe we missed a trick not taking advantage of Jorgi and Kante's value peaking after Porto and using it to reinvest in players for the next 5-7 years.

That's fine, Kante has done and achieved pretty much everything with us. He deserves to go wherever he wants as far as I'm concerned. As good as he is, it's time we fix the midfield without relying on him

Think it is the same with Jorgi too. They are high earners, Kante with injury troubles and Jorgi a steep decline.

Page 162 is a right laugh 😅

And as for the topic, yea it’s a funny one for all the humility.. Kante knows the business and will want a last big pay day for his 3 kids. His agent is going for broke here though thinking another top club is giving him a 4 year deal with the figures he’s on now, madness with all things considered.

If True that's absolutely fantastic for Boehly and probably the biggest thing he could do to get me onside short of leaving Pulisic in Milan next week.

How much money has Kante been paid per minute on the pitch in the last 2 seasons?

You simply can't give a long term £300K+  week contract to an injury prone player will be 32 at the end of the season particularly one who depends on his physical attributes.

We all love Kante during his 5 world class games a season but the top performances are too few and the numbers are too high for us to consider renewing him unless he took a significant paycut and given another club will likely see him as a coup on a free i don't see that happening.

Can’t see it. Too old for Arteta; who prefers younger, fresher legs,  & he will be their highest paid player. Conte might like him but can’t see Levy breaking his wage structure, or giving a 32yr old a long contract.

Agree with this but we kind of made a rod for our back by giving Koulibaly that daft contract. Now Jorginho will also be demanding a 4yr contract, next season Kovacic and Mendy will be asking for the same.

Roman was smart for having that blanket 1yr + option in place for over 30s.

Should we give long cushy contract? Nope.

Can Kante play for pep? If you have watched city play and you say no, then I can't help you.

Can ngolo Kante be in a team who contend year in year out? Imagine this pool team with Kante.
