David Luiz back at Chelsea

he's only been here 6 months and already luiz is a changed defender. conte has had a big impact on the way he plays. a lot of juve fans saying conte is turning luiz into a more refined cb, similar to what he did with bonucci. would have been interesting to see what conte could have done with luiz over a 2/3 year period. saying that, luiz is still just 29 (thought he was older) so could see him get better over the next year or two.

If Conte got hold of 23 year old Luiz he would be the best defender in the world right now, that's why id love to sign Mauricio Lemos, he's basically another shot at young Luiz, hair an all.

You can see his genuine love for Chelsea too he probably was getting paid better at PSG but as soon as we came calling he stood up Geezer

I think he has loved every club he's been at. He appreciates being very priviledged. Good man Luiz. Role model!

friend of mine is a PSG fan and he reckoned none of them were bothered about him coming back to chelsea, he actually felt they had unloaded him on us.

Worked to our benefit and their cost. They have been conceding goals galore this season and are currently third in the league and considering money they spent and for them to be behind Nice is unbelievable.

Really smart free kick from Luiz vs Liverpool.

It shows how much he's improved since his last stint here that we were sh*tting bricks when he was injured.

Conte has used him perfectly, exploiting his technical strengths while giving him freedom to roam in his sweeper position.

that free kick was awesome !! can not stop watching it, he defo knew that was in second it went over the wall !!

same here - I didn't even see it coming tbh - I thought Side Show Bob would think about but nope he just ran up to the ball & kicked the ball off the post - freakin' wonderful effort, but we don't hear anything about it - if it was Messi everyone would be spewing in their pants for months - hell Sergrio Ramos is always raging because he is a defender, but nothing about Gary Cahill scoring on a regular basis - so with that fact, let's watch Side Show Bob work his magic again:

Still having trouble with his knee from getting Agueroed. Rest him for the Swansea game as well. We shouldn't kneed him for that but we'll definately kneed him for the last 10 matches, no kneed to risk it ;)

It just shows how good he has been that he has been playing with that injury since we beat City.

A lot of players these days get small knocks and they are out for weeks, it's good to see Luiz not being such a wimp and just playing through it.

He will be rested against Wolves so he will have almost 2 weeks to fully recover. Conte made him the crucial link in the defense, with Dave and Gary catching up if any one goes past him. People including me were sceptical about this move and it proved to be worth every penny. I knew he wouldn't be a bad move, but he proved to be a brilliant fit.

I wonder who would actually replace him. Terrys pace seems to make the whole backline uneasy unfortunately. Maybe azpiliucueta centrally and zouma on the right.

Hopefully this 2 week break will be good for him.

My guess would be for Cahill to come into the middle, Zouma on the right, Dave on the Left

Zouma - Cahill - Dave

Or, depending on how Conte rates Ake he might come in on the left of the three

Dave - Cahill - Ake

Cahill in the middle that's how we lost two goals against Swansea and Arsenal the furthest away Cahill is away from the center the better

Luiz played against Arsenal too

But wasn't really culpibale for the goals and might have been our best player, cirtinaly played the best ball of the game from out point of view

Still played in a back 4 that lost to Liverpool and Arsenal so there is still culpability. Playing the best ball means f*** all when you concede 3 so just blaming Cahill is pointless.

Am i the only one who thinks Ake could do a job in the middle of a 3 if Luiz was out?
