So I can't see him getting anywhere near Liverpool first team their midfield is stacked and their right back position is already stacked so I don't see how he thinks he will get game's at Liverpool

So off to Liverpool then.... I wonder if he read that Express article while trying to make up his mind :face_palm:

It's all you're fault!

Not too fussed to be honest. I'd of put in a better shift than he did on Sunday and would of only expected an orange at half time.

A WHOLE orange?????? Greedy f**k!

I think if we can get Barkley, Llorente and Drinkwater then yeah, that will be decent and enough to see us through to January.

Isn't Barkley out injured with a buggered hamstring until at least January?

Why not Theo Walcot?

Older cheaper better.

Hahahahahaha. You must either be blind or never watched Arsenal or on a wind up to even begin thinking of Walcott.  The guy has more than a decade of playing at the top level and is still the same player he was when he's 16. The guy is on 140k p/w doing f*ck all and is useless even as a sub. He's the one guy not kicking up a fuss about being a sub in a World Cup year.

It was a kind of joke :laugh2:

I have to laugh to not depress myself

It has to be the money factor he stalled/rejected our offer. We have been after him for months, surely his agent talked about everything about his potential role at Chelsea, and reached an agreement. That's why we made an official bid to a rival club, wouldn't have done it if the player was not keen. The only thing that changed in the past week was Arsenal offered him 180k, I don't think we'd offer anywhere near that. He turned that down, but doesn't mean he'd happily take e.g. 120k. His agent would have reminded him his true value. I don't think he will join Liverpool before the deadline, he's not guaranteed to get the starting midfield spot either, and the money factor.

I much prefer when I`m pulled off by the manager at half time.....

Do you find that helps you better focus going into the second half?

Hell yes, very relaxing....

No big loss. He would have been our 2nd choice wingback and 5th choice CM at best. He won't get any CL team to let him be 1st choice CM. He'll likely see out his Arsenal deal and move down to a mid-table team in the summer.

Agreed. It's got West Ham written all over it!!

Is it time to say that we didn't want him anyway?

Think so.

Read a true story about when Lou Macari had agreed terms with Liverpool in the early 1970s and was all set to put pen to paper after a game at Anfield.

Pat Crerand who was on the Man Utd coaching staff was watching the game sitting next to Macari. He managed to convince Macari not to sign and a few days later. Macari signed for Man Utd.

Bill Shankly was not pleased at being messed about and said when asked by a reporter. "I was only going to play him in my reserve team anyway!"

I reckon Liverpool told Ox/his agent that they'll match the price Arsenal accepted from a rival (as the two clubs had a major falling out over the Suarez deal) and then he can reject that club and join Liverpool. I think if you accept an amount from one club if another matches it you've still got to allow that player to talk to the new club.

Very underhanded and unethical... So very apt considering the football club involved.

You dont. You can accept or reject any offers for any reason. They dont have to accept an offer from Liverpool.

Apparently the reason Liverpool will be less likely is that they see Liverpool are more direct competition for 4th - we are a tier above Arsenal.

What about the idea that Chamberlain just doesn't want the hassle of joining a rival club in the same city? Not every player has the cohones of an Ashley Cole or Sol Campbell when it comes to such matters.

Ah, well that's me told.

Ha, a good example would be if we accepted an offer of £35m from Juventus for Matic. We wouldnt have had to do the same for Man United.

Unfortunately that didn't happen.

Gutted. f**k about for 4 months doing nothing, and then have the player reject you.

Now whats our board gonna do? Sack Conte for their incompetence?

2 days to go, lets see what panic papy we get this time.

Or a panic Willian, panic Remy or panic Alonso.

The Danny Drinkwater situation also leaves me in two minds. On the one hand I want him to grown into the next Lampard. How great that would be.

Don't let anybody say the Shed End forum lack posters with a sense of humour.

Totally correct. The fault lies within the club in pursuing a player who doesn't see us as his perfect destination career wise. Mr Emenalo should be asked questions on why we have wasted time preparing a bid, how good was the spade work prior to the bid?

That's what I don't understand. Whether it's suitable club, playing time or expected role, surely someone would have had to have that conversation. Combination Conte and Emenalo. It may also be the difficulty with signing backup / depth players who are happy challenging if not immediate first teamers or taking reduced time.

Realistically now we have to find a way to make a backup / plan c player feel valued. Not easy.

If I wanted to beat a dead horse we'd talk about youth as a way around this.
