City were good second half. Everton just couldn't live with them and made nothing of having the extra man. Two poor decisions for the sending offs, the refs are all struggling and we've only had 2 games!

Everton made them look good they gave them too much respect. And we're too defensive, they had an extra man for most of the game. But they sat back and invited the pressure

Everton were brainless for most parts of the 2nd half which is expected when you play youngsters tbf. They didn't really bother to slow the tempo of the game, at the 60th minute it was always playing it long to whoever's furthest forward without looking at their own teammates.

I wonder if the dropped points will send City out shopping again. Presumably Evans and maybe another striker or attacking midfielder? Maybe even an extra full back with Walker due to miss a game. That could in turn see United make one more signing.

i don't think city are as special in attack as the media have us believe. i didn't see anything tonight, even before they had a man sent off, to suggest they are levels above anybody else in the top 4/5.

I think both us and Spuds look stronger than Citeh. I reserve judgement on Manyoo till they play a couple of tough games. Liverpoo i can't see getting top 4. Le Arse may get top 4 if Sanchez stays and performs, but they wont get top 3.

So i think us and spuds are still the teams to beat, despite what the bookies think.

The only thing that gives me pause about City is their capabilities to just out score lesser teams. You don't have to be the best of the top 4 or 6 so long as you bully 15 other teams. Other than that I agree with you

On what we've seen so far, we still have the most adaptable squad. We can change our set up and approach to suit particular challenges in a way I just don't believe others can.

Wait for Arsenal and Liverpool at the weekend can either defend?

I agree with that, especially after seeing Luiz revive his midfield role.

This ref is sh*t. This is the same ref that officiated at the Bridge last week right? He likes a red card doesn't he.

Craig Pawson was the ref at the bridge last week, Bob Madley during the City game. Madley did ref the FA cup final when he sent off Moses though.

Still interesting to look at the two refs records this season:

Madley: 3 Games - 13 yellows - 3 reds

Pawson: 2 games - 14 yellows - 2 reds

The refs certainly have got card happy this year.

My mistake then. Looking at those stats however, 1 red card per game?

Still think our biggest challengers this season will be Utd. They have pretty much the perfect squad plus a manager who's won it three times. Watched City last night and amazingly they look the same as last season. Very poor midfield and honestly relying on an injury prone Aguero to lead your line is bizarre. Also amazing how they keep spending insane money on defenders yet look very shaky at the back.

My take on Walker's second yellow is that if the referee truly believed that it was deliberate in that Walker looked back prior to his elbow making contact with the Everton player, then it should have been a straight red, but if the referee felt that it was somewhat accidental, then at best it should have been a free kick awarded to Everton and not a yellow.

So, in my mind, Referee Madley got it wrong.

Wait until Eden comes back. They will allow players to do these weird tackles on him, unconventional fouls i call them, usually it involves them jumping on his back like he's a donkey whilst holding both hands in the air to prove it's not a foul. as long as he doesn't go down and keeps running it's not a foul, and if he goes down lightly he gets booked for diving.

What pisses me off are the cynical fouls. So many times over the last few season's i have seen opposition players ruin what they know is a dangerous attack being created by us on the wing or half way line and the ref rarely gives a yellow. It pisses me off that the most skillful footballers are not given the protection they should be getting in this league, it's like they are being punished for being such good footballers.

Us and City get an awful lot of harsh decisions go against us in comparison to the other top 4 teams.
Noticed it last season as well.

Look at both clubs owners lol obviously some slight agenda against certain teams in some games, that much you can say for deffo and I'm not just saying against us sometimes I watch us play and we get the run of the green, enjoy it regardless but always feels wrong!! Bring in video refs at least gives clubs a tool to fight back against the injustice.

Couldn't think of anywhere else to post this. Draw for the third round of the EFL Cup takes place this coming Thursday, 24 August. Draw will be made at 4.15am (BST) in Beijing.

I saw that. It's so weird though, can they really have a cup and a team sponsored by the same company? Also feels weird that the draw takes place in China

Agree, re China they are saying due to business opportunities though personally think that is wrong it should be drawn in the UK.
