September 16, 20178 yr Have to say I disagree with the sentiments around his passing. I was very impressed with his long passing against Burnley from the right side centre back spot. The challenge of playing on the left as a right footer is that your body postion doesn't help you make first time long passes. It also means you can't put in Azpi like crosses. In my view this is why we need our next centre back purchase to be a left footer if we are to continue as a back three. If I'm honest we could do withsome more left footers in the team full stop.I totally agree I don't see where is passing his limited

I agree. I still dont know his defensive ability but his passing is top class. He srems to be two footed too (initially thought he was left footed). All our CBs except Cahill seem comfortable with either foot
September 21, 20178 yr I think he's shown enough already to be picked ahead of Cahill for the next few games at least.
September 21, 20178 yr Love him already. He gives that assurance at the back that unfortunately Cahill doesn’t.
September 21, 20178 yr He just looks imposing look's like a defender silky smooth lightening quick good on the ball strong and composed.
October 21, 20178 yr thought he had a very good game today. i think the whole defence had issues in 2nd half, but in the first half i thought he kept richarlison relatively quiet and was fast enough to deal with him.
October 28, 20178 yr Author Fantastic performance today. Wish Conte would play him more often over Cahill but you just know Cahill will be back against Roma. I guess I can't complain much about having more options but I'd love to see Rudiger feature more often in the league for us.
October 28, 20178 yr His pace is a huge plus, he can keep up with running attackers one on one whereas Cahill would be beaten almost every time.
October 28, 20178 yr I have to say, Rudiger has been the most consistent performer of all our summer signings so far.
October 28, 20178 yr yeah cahill wouldn't have the pace to run back after that bournemouth player dummy turned rudiger, but rudiger just has that solid pace to get back quickly.

Zouma is a very capable defender and will only grow as a player. Someone like him deserves a chance with Cahill and Luiz aging Is Tomas Kalas coming back? Seems like we’re very blessed with a backline

October 29, 20178 yr Again a massive perfomance from Rudiger vs Bournemouth, i like Cahill and i'm thankful for all what's he had do for Chelsea, but I reckon that Rudiger is stronger
October 29, 20178 yr I was actually quite harsh on his ability when I saw him, he is a good passer of the ball. I never saw him at Roma so I didn't know what to make of him, I just went by what I saw. It was his awkward style which got me feeling he's a bit nervous at the back, a bit like Kurt Zouma. But his passing range is far better than Gary Cahill's, seems to play very accurate passes. It was passes like at 0:40 when I saw him weeks ago which made me think he's not comfortable on the ball, it's probably just because he's 6'3 & one footed. But going by the last several matches I've seen him play I completely take back what I said about him 2 pages ago.

We are in a world cup season so Cahill will want to play, so your suggestion may be how it turns out and I think GC would naturally be better on the right side of defence instead of the left where JT used to play.

True that. One of DL/GC would need to be sacrificed next season though. Can't see zouma accepting a 6th CB role.

In fact he should be pretty much sacrificed right away because both Christensen and Rudiger are better than him, and their ceiling is much higher than GC's ever was and will be
