Some of the key goals we conceded last year notably against Spurs were down to crosses to the back right post and Azpi/Moses missing a header, Rudiger would solve that problem. He can also play full back too if we switch to a back 4 at any point. Good versatile option and I must say I'm pleased (if he can stay fit) I don't think Moses deserves to be dropped, not even for Dave. He's been epic all season (Apart from FA cup final!) I'd like to see us stick with the same set up but perhaps get Gary Cahill out of the team slowly.
July 23, 20178 yr The whole point of a wingback is too be good going forward, thats why he wants Sandro and thats why he uses Moses and sometimes Pedro has played there. Azpi isn't good enough going forward to be used as a wingback.

If you have one side that's more attacking and one that's more defensive it's fine, ideally you want balance but one side will always be weaker at one thing, at least you know what side to expect to have to defend down more. Also dave hasnt had a chance to attack on his right foot I dont think he is a natural attacking player but he will do a decent job. His final ball will be better than VM and for me I'd take a solid defence over victor running at players then being unable to get the ball in, if he was a good attacker he would have made it as a winger, the truth is he is good at nothing but decent at both and has energy, Dave is excellent at defending and will do ok attacking.

This is harsh. He did well at left wing when he first joined. Also, Azpi had a long spell at right back under Benitez the same season. He was decent going forward (as a right back, not a wing back), overlapped and linked up reasonably well if memory serves. That was five years ago now... Blimey. I like Moses. It was good to see him unexpectedly make it as a regular last season after a few years of obscurity.

August 7, 20178 yr Well, he came on yesterday and Dave moved to the left. Not sure if that is a good solution...
August 7, 20178 yr Rudiger lost his man yesterday which resulted in a goal. Not good enough, he needs to sort that out.
August 7, 20178 yr Yeah, pretty horrible start by him to be honest. Totally lost Kolasinac who was his man.
August 7, 20178 yr He's a long term investment so not to concerned. The back three will be as you were for the most part this campaign.

August 10, 20178 yr Yeah the backline had complete controll and Kolasinac would have been offside if Morata wasnt lingering to long back there. To call it a "horrible start" is just lughable
August 10, 20178 yr Even the pundits kept saying it was Cesc but ya, Morata darted into the box too early.
August 13, 20178 yr I thought his presence was excellent he stands out on th woot he and has the physical attributes, very happy with him, my only issue I see I think he isn't as tactically aware as he could be, maybe luiz isn't the ideal partner for him. I was wincing when I saw him get smashed in his knee after his acl problems hopefully it was his good knee
August 14, 20178 yr Did alright, wouldn't say his passing range is as good as was made out though. Seems to look awkward on the ball like Zouma.
August 14, 20178 yr He still has a lot to offer us. I like his aggression, I think he had a good game, maybe our best defender in that game. He was looked motivated and could see him pushing us forward, with more games and more experience in that league he is going to be much better, I'd say he is the closest defender to reach Boateng's level, maybe better. I'm happy with him.
August 15, 20178 yr Must be dozens of journalists out to get us at the moment, none of them have an ounce of respect for us. Bloody yahoo and metro reporting that the squad don't rate rudiger, what a load of rubbish.
August 15, 20178 yr http://metro.co.uk/2017/08/15/chelsea-squad-unconvinced-by-antonio-rudiger-since-34m-transfer-6854765/ A lot of media negativity lately regarding Chelsea. I stumbled upon this article & I can find no source whatsoever to indicate that the squad is unhappy with Rudiger. Nothing viable, nothing even stating it's "inside sources"
August 16, 20178 yr He's only been at Chelsea for a few weeks, and already the squad would be unhappy, while he started last Saturday? Bollocks.
August 16, 20178 yr The Daily Fail's considered take on Rudi's debut. Quote But Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Antonio Rudiger both conceded three goals First up they seem to think he's a goalkeeper. Quote Antonio Rudiger - 5.5 Rudiger may have seen a home fixture to Burnley on the opening day as the perfect assignment to ease himself into the Premier League but he was in for a rude awakening. Granted he was not helped by the dismissal of his captain Gary Cahill, but the presence of Sam Vokes unsettled him, and there's plenty more revered strikers in the English top flight that await. Booked. Riveting analysis from the folks who speak with assurance about us being a 'crisis club' at the moment. What guff.
September 9, 20178 yr A solid performance against Leicester. He finds more and more connection with Luiz and Azpilicueta, improves from game to game. Happy to have him.
