So long as we win I don't care who conte starts. We need a statement win against a contender for the top 4. This is that game.

Said to often but this one is a must win for a few reasons.

Remember last season? Would have won that match if DC would have converted his PK at the end of the match

At the very end of the day, I was glad that we dropped the points since still won the league and that point meant Liverpool edged Arsenal out of the CL places!  Just needed us to beat them in the FA Cup as well so they could go into total meltdown.  Grrrrr.....

Indeed I remember that. It was so infuriating. I hope we take our chances this time. It's about time Conte beats that w**ker

Will be a very tough game. Need to be at our best, hopefully with the momentum at our side, we are able to get the win. Salah will be key as he will be against gc/alonso. If he gets to run behind them, then we will find it hard.

zc cesc kante baka alonso

morata hazard

I think that Liverpool spend lot of energy in their game against Sevilla, it's a key, unlike us. Baka will be fit, Christen will be fit, Hazard and Morata as well.

It's little bit alike to Chelsea - Man.City or the Manchester City's players had lot of energy than us, because we played a massive game against Atletico and not them.

WE NEED THIS WIN, that will be a tough game, but we can get this win.

We have Bakayoko ready, Morata ready, Hazard in form, Fabregas is finally bringing up his form. All we have to look for is their attack, they're deadly in counter attacks and we must be ready for that. Our wingbacks will be more defensively because the speed of Salah and Mane, Firmino's movement isn't bad and very skilful player, if Christensen kept Lukaku in his pockets, Firmino should join him as well. It's going to be a very good match.

I'd like to see this starting lineup:

--------------- Courtois ---------------------

-- Azpilicueta - Christensen - Cahill --

Zappacosta - Bakayoko - Kante - Alonso

---- Fabregas -- Morata -- Hazard --

It's going to be an aggressive game, can't wait for it! COME ON CHELS!!!!!!

We all know Liverpool are going to absolutely press us like lunatics around our goal , they seem to put more effort into beating us than they do United or Everton .

We must not allow them the opportunity around our goal area by ***** footing around trying to play it out  , Courtois should be instructed to hoof the ball as long as possible to negate this and get Hazard and Pedro/Willian or whoever to get ready for the flick ons , their defence is average and their keeper too short although he is a good shot stopper.

We in turn must press their defence like demons ,  I love beating Spurs and (now) United , but this one is the one for me.

I would respect Liverpool's pace & pressure and set up more defensively, which we would anyway and have been doing since the United match. Someone made a good point about playing Azpilcueta on the left-hand side, a big call and maybe showing too much respect would be a problem, besides Alonso has played against better players on that side and Azpilecueta as a wingback against Roma went horribly wrong, but this time it would be a full defensive duty.

If we play like we did against United then we are going to cause Liverpool a lot of problems, no time for being rusty, we've got to be 100% because 3 points right now are vital and we have dropped far too many points against the top 6 this season.

I’d rather have Rudiger playing on the left over Cahill to support Alonso with his pace. Dave is generally solid wherever he plays but he’s very one footed (the game on Wednesday reminded me) and we need the width the wingbacks provide.

I'm not really worried about Liverpool.  I like the way Chelsea are playing offensively.  We seem to be having big team mentality these days and I think if we go and attack we will outscore these guys since our defence will likely concede less than theirs.  These guys ship in lots of goals.  Sevilla wasted chances in the first half and I think Hazard won't waste like that.  I see us beating them 3-1

wud  happily take a draw here.
With mane and coutinho back they will cause all sorts of problems and we might not cope if they click.

Can't afford draws at the moment, not the way City are playing; we need to stay as close as we can; drop 3 points here and we are playing for a top 4 spot only....the boys will be up for this 1-2 to the good guys

All I ask in this game is for the players to give 110% for this game.

We have a massive fixture pileup going into December. Coaching team needs to step up a gear in terms of player fitness and rest.

We have had a tough start to the season, but despite quantity, the fixture list  seems to have a lot of winnable games up to Xmas. We stand a good chance of catching united over this period. Hopefully we can add another attacker or two in January as I feel we are short of options there.

Salah is an excellent player that Jose ruined for Chelsea, just like de Briuyne. He will cause problems against Alonso/Cahill. Elsewhere I feel more comfortable. If Moses is back we can attack down our left and with Baka fresh and drinkwater as a strong sub we have a lot going for us in midfield. As usual it will in part depend on whether Morata turns up on the day.

All in all I’m hopeful, bit then I was against Roma and look what happened there  should be a good game

I think we must go at Anfeild for the win, not for a draw, otherwise the both MU and MC will be quietly set in their seat and Tottenham will move to the 3 place

We have 7 out of 12.  We only lost to City, and beat Spuds and the Mancs.  "Too many" is a bit strong I think.  Agree with the rest of your point, though.

I don't think it's specifically "Salah-bashing".  When he was here, he was dog-sh*t bad.  He went elsewhere, and appears to have got better.  It happens.

It's the same old 20/20 hindsight that is hugely prevalent in here (and in lots of other areas of society, not just football) that bitchbabies use to moan about De Bruyne, Lukaku etc being sold, when all they did while here was take up a squad place and fail to impress whenever they played (OK, OK, I know KdB had a decent 20 minutes against Hull or some such northern pub team).

Salah was pants, got a bit older, got a bit more experience, moved to a team where they play in a very specific way that appears to be absolutely perfect for his Jack Russell-like chasing after a ball, so looks like a footballer rather than a sprinter.  SWP was 'kin excellent at that, and we let him go as well.  Even Gronkjaer scored.

Oi YB, I'm no Bitchbaby!!

I agree with a lot of what you say. Salah never looked up to CFC standard, in fact I thought we had signed Marco Marin Mk2. I didn't want us to sell Lukaku, but now I'm not bothered as he still looks hit & miss - flat track bully. But KDB will remain the poorest bit of transfer business we have been involved in and whoever sanctioned the decision to offload him had an absolute shocker. We could all see that the potential was there and he was worth purservering with. Sometimes a player is not going to be an instant success and may make noises that he's not happy but you put an arm around him and keep him in your plans. If another season or two and things still aren't working out then fair enough but KDB was released way to early and most of us didn't need hindsight to know that was going to prove a poor decision.

That's as maybe @Nibs I wasn't that convinced at the time, and am still of the opinion that he showed nothing special whilst with us.  Like a lot of players, he improved but, also like a lot of players, didn't do enough while with us to justify a place.  Look at Matic - wasn't CFC standard and got sold.  Vastly improved whilst away, and got bought back and was excellent.  Went down a bit lately, but that's another matter.

AND, I still think KdB is a flawed player who happens to be playing in an excellent team which matches his skill set.  I maintain that his decision-making is dubious at best and he goes missing in the big games

I like Salah offensively - he's fast and is beginning to score a lot of goals.  But to me he is part of the reason Liverpool ship in a lot of goals.  i dont see his contribution defensively and i think we can really capitalise on this.  Offensively Liverpool are good but I see a huge imbalance if they play Mane Salah Firminho Coutinho and Henderson.  Henderson is not that good and we cannot compare him to the likes of Kante.  I think this leads to a good offense but weak Central midfield!  We already know their defence is sh*t and I think we have at least 2 goals tomorrow.  If we just manage to defend them when they attack, I dont see anything else but a Chelsea win!  I expect us to dorminat the mid with Bakayoko Ngolo and Cesc.  Hazard and Alvaro should definitely get a few chances
