Sarri's Napoli were, on paper, arguably a weaker side than Walter Mazzarri's side that we beat in 2011 for example, and while Napoli were a strong team they were emblematic of a much stronger Serie A overall than that of the mid 00s. And where is the statistical data to confirm that?
August 24, 20187 yr If people are only going to be happy when we win trophies then it's going to lead to a pretty miserable existence...A journey not a destination...
August 24, 20187 yr His brand of football is invigorating the team and the fans, Sarri just has tweak the defensive formations and we're rocking, Kovacic and Barkley are ahead of RLC, and Cesc if Jorginhos ready replacement when required, and i believe wirth the new style of ball into space and to feet, Hazard would thrive as a Striker

Not saying sarri won't win anything, but as long as Pep is at City and Klopp at Liverpool I think it could be tough. Sarri has simply come in at the wrong time unfortunately. I don't think Jose or Conte would have won the league with us last season or this season either if I'm honest.
August 24, 20187 yr Klopp has won nothing yet, and Guardiola will struggle to retain the league, in my opinion. I think you are being too despondent.

What I meant was competition for the league has got even tougher than Jose's second stint and Conte's first stint. Both times the league was less competitive. The first time Jose was here, Spurs were just coming into their own, Klopp had just got to Liverpool, Wenger was still at Arsenal and was happy for top four, Utd had Van Gaal and were still finding their way after Ferguson, and City didn't have Pep. Since Conte's first stint here, Arsenal now have a new coach, City are into their third spell under Pep and know the system, Spurs have reached their peak, Utd still have Mourinho (albeit third season syndrome) and Liverpool are a totally different, much stronger outfit to 3/4 seasons ago. We now have a new coach who we have to be patient with to coach his new system this season, so yeah, Sarri has it much tougher than the former two coaches in my opinion.
August 24, 20187 yr Haha, I liked Maurizio's response when asked about the defence and using 5 defenders. Basically, 5 defenders would make us boring and less of an attacking threat, pretty much hindering Sarri's system and putting us back to square one. Some of these journalists come across like they have no football knowledge whatsoever, despite following (supposedly) the game for their work. I sometimes think these reporters are pulled in off the street to ask these questions.
August 24, 20187 yr Napoli gave Maurizio Sarri everything and didn't win anything - Aurelio De Laurentiis I hope the Players see this quote & rally behind the gaffer - ADL is just a punk IMHO no reason for him to take shots at Don Maurizio
August 24, 20187 yr I enjoy listening to Sarri - find him engaging and good to hear, but i do wish he would stop picking his nose when he talks!

August 25, 20187 yr "Here the problem is the bench because, in Italy, the players’ list for the match is 23; here only 18. It’s not so easy in this period because we play only once a week. But I told the team that this month they have to be patient. In the future, starting from September, I think we play three times three games a week, so there will be space for everybody.” One of my biggest concerns was his lack of rotation at Napoli. Hopefully he serious about this and some of our younger 1st team players see chances.
August 25, 20187 yr Napoli really wanted him to stay, they knew they lost a special manager, that's why they have been b1tching about it ever since he left. They sold Higuain to Juven for god sake, you don't win league if you hand over your best striker to the title holder, it set you back a couple of years at least.

Nothing napoli couldve done.
August 25, 20187 yr Just for fun quick translate 80 cigarettes per day a cigarette every twelve minutes 29.200 cigarettes per year 22.000 cigarettes per season he has smoked so much that you could put fourteen cigarettes on each seat of Stamford bridge. Amount spent : 440.000 euro, two weeks Hazard's salary

He didn't have the strength in depth at Napoli, and he was trying to compete on all levels and do well. Certainly not easy to do. He did rotate, but it was with only about 3 players on the bench who he could trust and were good enough.

Conte was bad at this as well here.

August 26, 20187 yr Quote I have spent only one day in London in 40 days here': Maurizio Sarri is wasting no time in his transformation of Chelsea https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/08/25/have-spent-one-day-london-40-days-maurizio-sarri-wasting-no/
August 26, 20187 yr Outside of City, Liverpool and MAYBE Tottenham, I don't see any other team better than us currently. But give Sarri a few extra months to implement his style, and for the players to gel together better and we definitely have the potential to be right up there. Defensive frailties are clearly visible, but I think it can be sorted quickly once we get Christensen to replace Luiz and Emerson to start getting more game time and providing competition to Alonso
