Maurizio Sarri Officially Appointed

He won three European Cups in a row.
There is nothing spectacular about that to me. What Lampard is doing at Derby is amazing to me and it's not because he was our former player. The way that team played against us and against United shows something UNIQUE about Lampard as a manager which I haven't seen in Zidane. The ability to motivate an average players to get the best out of them. We can do with that type of manager right now considering the fact that the board are no longer keen on investing in the squad, I think there are managers out there that can come here and give the youths and some of our players on loan a fair chance in the team. We might not immediately challenge for the title, but if the team shows a lot of promise in the first season, it will be worth a gamble.

Yeah will arguably one of best squads and best individual players ever assembled.

Does that apply to this current Chelsea squad?

With the greatest squad ever assembled and arguably the greatest footballer to have lived. Can he do the same with the sh*t show we have? Doubt it.

That Real Madrid squad is not the greatest squad ever assembled, not even close. It was a very good squad that kept finding a way to win without being great, they certainly weren't the greatest side I have ever seen. I don't know if that was down to Zidane though.

Personally think without Ronaldo it would've been a different story. He carried Madrid in the CL imo

He scored a lot of goals in the their Champions League wins, but he was often outperformed by his team mates, especially in the finals.

That used to be the case but is it anymore? Would it be the case if Sarri gets sacked. The only managers that follow that view are ones fully expecting to be sacked after 24 months. We cant attract the top anymore as they don't see the point.

We wouldn't get anywhere near Zidane despite any media reports. We weren't able to get Pep. We wouldn't have got klopp. We wouldn't get Poch. Or Simeone. I think ancelotti wouldn't bother and I question whether Allegri would see the point.

Who does that actually leave? Maybe tuchel when PSG get bored? We'd probably end up getting lampard in but theres no guarantee he would be interested. Imagine how depressing that would be as well if he joined and we realise (again) it's not the manager...

If a world class manager is available we would still have a chance with most, obviously there's some we could never get but that was the case 10 years ago aswell (Fergie, Wenger), the point i mean is managers won't reject us because of our hire and fire reputation, if they take the job here three things can happen.

A: He flops but the media sympathise with him due to "player power" allowing his reputation to remain intact.

B: He wins titles but eventually things go sour and he leaves, again with no reputation damage.

C: He cracks the long term conundrum here, which if they do they have a stable job at one of the most well off financial teams about.

It's a no risk (in terms of reputation) high reward job, all of the credit and none of the blame.

This isn't aimed at you Brutos but there seems to be a general desperation to undermine any manager these days.

Pochettino, Sarri and before this season Klopp overachieve on budgets tiny compared to the big boys and it's "show us your medals", Zidane, Allegri Pep etc can show said medals and it's " but even Shannon from Sc**thorpe could with those squads", then you get the one's who pull off miracle title wins (Ranieri) and they are dismissed as fluke.

It seems as if managers can't win in the eyes of an average fan.

Pep era Barca were almost untouchable and they couldn’t come close to that achievement.

Then I don’t know what to tell you. It’s basically unheard of to dominate European football.

But you still need a manager to unite and motivate a team. To dismiss Zidane’s contribution to Madrid’s unparalleled success is, to me, ridiculous.

You said you don’t see the hype about Zidane.

That I have to make an argument for a manager who won the European Cup three times in a row is just... wow!

Here's a "rebuttal" of sorts to Matt Law's viewpoint on this.  Alex Goldberg called Law out on twitter and Law basically ignored the question.  The theory then, was, since he didn't outright deny that Cahill was his source, then it is quite possible that it is Cahill.

https://chelseaecho.com/2019/02/17/gary-cahill-club-legend-or-club-mole/

It's all quite interesting, to say the least, as both Law and Simon Phillips (creator of chelseaecho but didn't write the article) usually post solid content.

that's why I mentioned it here, there's usually something behind what Matt Law says

Would not have won the CL 3 times without Ronaldo, he carried that team

So why didn’t Messi win three on the bounce?

Messi has nothing to do with the latest shiny new manager, Zidane.

Ronaldo has been the top scorer in the CL for around the last 5 or 6 seasons, and without Ronaldo, Madrid would not have won it for the last 3. I have my opinion and stand by it. Cheers have a good night.

It was worth a try.

But this must be it surely? Completely embarrasement.

So scared to watch, every time enemy team has the ball it's a goal chance! No defense for a little bit more possession is our game now.

Supported him up to now but he must go! No changes, no motivation, no idea.

I cant believe we fired Conte for him and paid 5 million on top to get him from Napoli.

Question is what do we do with Jorginho as we cant fire him?

So one of the arguments in Sarri’s favour has been that he doesn’t have the players  he needs to play his system.

Four of the starting eleven are his signings. Then you’ve got Kante and Hazard, two of the best players in the world.

Realistically how many players does he need to make us play even half decent? We’ve been awful since Christmas.

Needs two goals with Hudson Odoi on the bench.

Subs on a defender for Azpi.

If that doesn't prove he's out of his depth i don't know how much slack some want to give him.

8 goals conceded and 0 scored in two games. This is not acceptable for Chelsea football club and the players we have.

i don’t care if this is a change in ‘philosophy’ it’s simply not acceptable and he must go.

ive said before, and I’ll say again. This is why he hasn’t won’t anything.

too stubborn

no plan B

I've defended sarri, and I still think the majority of the blame is more with the players and with Roman.

But....

You can't come out and publicly criticize players, and then keep playing the same players. His reluctance to change anything when chasing a game is something I've never seen before. We have been rooted to 433 all season. Lastly, there are young players that should be in the team.

Sarriball could've worked if the club had made smarter moves in the transfer market. It didn't really have a chance though, especially because sarri hasn't done enough to help his cause.

It's all over now. I wanted it to work, but there is no coming back from these results.

Not sure where we go from here, a transfer ban could be a blessing in disguise, if we brought in a manager to really bring through the youth. Otherwise I'm expecting more of the same, new manager, 2 or 3 new players, sacked within 12 months.

Sarri really thinks that his formation and tactics are the only way to play football. Even after getting beaten so hard multiple times this season.

For all those that saw his Napoli that won nothing but had a big amount of points at the end of the season, that same Napoli is today also the second team in Serie A behind Juventus, Sarriball or no Sarriball.
