Maurizio Sarri Officially Appointed

Featured Replies

Never seen a  Chelsea manager so incapable or reluctant to make changes to adapt. Sure, he will walk away with his principle in tact and loads of money to buy smoke, but he f* it up on and off the pitch, it's simple as that. Yes, the board probably made a mistake to hire him, but they expected a Napoli managers knows how to pick a team, have a plan B, able to come up with a decent tactical plan once in a while, and not throwing all the players under the bus when things aren't going well

I've been a supporter of Sarri throughout all this malaise, but I do think it's time he looks at his tactics and the players available to him. If he simply switches the formation to a different shape of 4-3-3 I think we'd have far more joy, as well as dropping the notorious underperformers. I'd be giving this line up a go for the rest of the season.

Azpi - Rudiger - Christensen - Emerson
Kante   -  Jorginho(Luiz for the big games to screen the defense more)
                   RLC/Kova
     CHO     - Higuain - Hazard

The mans a fraud, statements like we played confusing football WTF!!!!! You confuse the life out of everyone with your sh*t football & ridiculous subs!

How is he still employed today? Sunday’s going to be embarrassing

Here is a video that shows everything wrong with our defensive pressing and well worth a watch from start to finish. Alot of it is down to our players, but alot of it is also down to our "patterns of pressing". If you've ever wondered why Kante gets bypassed so easily, this video will show you why.

However, the first third of the video goes into what Pep did to counter our patterns of play. To me, that is the sign of a top manager. Someone who not only has a football "system", but also someone who can adjust based on the opponent.

Currently, Sarri isn't showing that ability. The PL has found a counter to his system. If he can't adjust, then IMO, he's just a one trick pony.

Since the spurs game in November, every big team we have faced has played 442 diamond without the ball, and sarri has made no adjustments to combat this.

I feel like a hypocrite because I used to get frustrated with Mourinho and Conte focusing too much on stopping the opponent rather than how we could hurt teams going forward, but it seems sarri is the complete opposite, and doesn't have any opposition scouting.

He isnt helped by individual errors all over the pitch, but he keeps sticking with the same players.

I think this might be my reaction when I'm watching the match on Sunday.

Now he was by far cleverer than me but it seems to me playing the same way with the same players and making the same subs and EXPECTING THE SAME RESULTS is insane !!!

I think Sunday should be the game we judge him on, having seen how City ripped us apart, he has to change our approach to the game. Will he? f*ck knows

I think we all know he’s not going to change much. Same old same old. It’s really incredibly the things he does, I’ve tried to be tolerant with him but after the manc debacle I’m in the Sarri out party.

I could probably accept renewing Green, purely because I think he’ll be on buttons and is just there to fulfill the homegrown quota but I’d prefer we used our loan army/young prospects to fill the HG spots.

We do actually use Bulka as the third choice, Green is here to fill in for Bulka as the 3rd keeper travelling to a game when Marcin has a development match to play.

Sarri gets a stay of execution.

As much as I think he should go, this is probably the sensible course of action. We're very strong favourites to advance to the next round of the Europa League regardless, and it makes no sense to start the reign of Sarri's successor with an almost certain cup final pasting against Man City.

I like that team. However, imagine the sulking and bad attitude we would get from Willian, Luiz and Alonso from being left out. Sarri doesnt need more trouble!

I actually think those three are the toxic players in our squad that we need to get rid off. Willian and Luiz got Conte fired in my eyes.

This season is a lost cause. Even if we sack Sarri after the cup final who comes in? how do they remove all the confusion Sarri has caused in time to save the season when so many of these same players are likely leaving in the next 16 months?

Between now and the summer of 2020 we have Luiz, Willy, Green, Kovacic, Higuain, Giroud set to leave this summer and then Willian, Pedro, Hazard and CHO the following summer.

That may be me forgetting some players too. So a big overhaul of players who dont know where their future lies and looking for a big last contract in most cases.

Anyone coming in is on a hiding too nothing and the only reason to sack Sarri is the hope someone can sparkle magic like OGS has at United and take us to winning the Europa.

All the while we count the cost of paying out Sarri and his staff after paying 7mill to get him from Napoli and being left with a likely pissed off Higuain and an expensive flop in jorginho not being used.

Any way you slice it, it is a mess and the mess began by how long we took to bring Sarri in.

No preseason. Few signings. Am not saying he is not at fault for this mess because he is part of the problem, but we shot ourselves in the foot before the season  started and now are bleeding out as the Sarri bandaid is not holding.

Yes it looks grim, barring an upset City win the League Cup. Then it become imperative we progress in the Europa League and just hope no major upset with Malmo in this busy period.

If we lose the Cup and get knocked out of the Europa, the season is over as no-one has anything to play for and can't see us getting top 4 even with a new interim manager.

I can.
If we get a proper manager in who has some common sense and the ability to assess his squad and play in a way that suits it i think we can get fourth.

But that means sacking Sarri right now. For every game he's here the closer we are to our season being over.

I think due to the close proximity of the matches this month they wont sack him until post City or even post Tottenham.

Just bad timing or maybe fate that the bad results came in just before this busy period.

Describes the board and the club more accurately than it does Sarri.

I think he’ll be sacked after the cup final if we were to lose it.

There are a few managers, Zidane included, who would be available to take over immediately and if Sarri were sacked it would be nice to see someone come in rather than an interim so that we can get a start on fixing the current mess.

We’ll win Thursday, we’ll win Sunday and Sarri will build a dynasty to rival some of the greatest.

I don’t believe that but I thought saying it out loud might help.

Well someone has to try so credit to you.

Football is supposed to be fun.

I must admit that his tactics right now are one dimensional, all he knows is 4-3-3, all he knows is playing the same players week in week out, it's predictable.

The players might mould but right now we are in a Cup Final, we can't go into it with the same mindset, we need to make adjustments. Pep isn't that one dimensional, he will change things up and have a gameplan, Sarri hasn't shown any of that here.

Jorginho is costing us in many of these games, he does no defensive work whatsoever and when pressured he's nullified completely. I think it's time for Sarri to make a quick adjustment for this game, play Kante deeper, bench Jorginho, play RLC and Kovacic. Because as of right now we are looking at a repeat of the 6-0 thrashing if we play the same system.

We are so easy to play against right now and that's just the problem.

“Impression I'm getting from within the club this morning is despite the disappointment of last night, focus is on the important games ahead - starting with Europa League match against Malmo at home on Thursday.” Simon Johnson

Seems Sarri will not be immently sacked. A couple of games depending on performances/results?

It took 18 months before Napoli started playing as a cohesive unit. It's going to take time if we want to transition to a possession team that's lost our previous reliance on players and a defensive style.

I just worry we'll always be a stop start club because although we throw the idea that the board is quick to kill a manager the fans seem to have even shorter tollerance when it goes wrong of late.

What do we want? Short term success again and the weird yo-yo of good season/bad season? or to build something with someone who prioritises attacking football?

or are you all convinced he's not the right person already?
