Pedro should start for me, I'm all aboard the Hudson-Odoi hype train but as yet he doesn't have end product on today's evidence.

Pedro's end product involves a lot of falling over and losing the ball.

Is it? I mean, yeah, we had more of the ball, but City had more chances today than they did in that game and they had more shots on target. That was a walk in the park for them today. If we played that way against them every time, they would beat us every time. At least with Conte's tactics, which were awful, they had to work for their goal. Honestly, if today's game meant as much as that game did, then it would have been just as hard to take. Even though we had more of the ball, we did nothing with it.

It is. This time atleast we tried to win the game.

Sadly missed this one due to work and I get very depressed watching highlights of games we've lost so would someone mind briefly summing up the positives and negatives of today's game for me? Hopefully there are a few positives...

That tweet makes it sound way worse than it is.

The fact there have only been 5 is the real issue.

He's also right on the second part.

2014/15 exit to PSG will always be a sore one for me. They were down to ten men for at least 70 minutes and we sauntered about the pitch with absolutely no intention to score, gambling that we'd not concede and go through on away goals. Still sickens me

Not really. It's not many, because 3 of those seasons we either failed to even qualify, or get out of the group.

What's most depressing for me is that i dont like watching this team play. They're slow, lacking hunger, predictable, mediocre and as for entertainment, forget it.

So what you're saying EB, is that maybe it wasn't Conte's fault we were a bit ordinary last year....

Exactly.  They're not a good watch.  In fact, yes we lost today, but putting that aside - it was a poor game.  We're just lost at the moment.  I know we're missing Hazard and Kante, but we simply can't be so reliant on two people.  There was no connection between the midfield and attack.  It's been that way all pre-season.

Yes. And what does willan actually offer.. absolutely nothing. Moses shouldnt even be on the team!

This is what happen, when you left the power in some sh*** woman.

Because you are a sexist pig.

Ok, so City will walk the league again this year. They're light years ahead of the rest.

For those in here who spend their time reacting to posts of criticism and negativity; you're going to have an exceptionally busy season. Poor old Sarri has walked into a sh*tstorm of mediocre players, less than mediocre players, players that might be good in three years time and players that are good now but desperately want to be good somewhere else. 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th beckons but, nothing more. And will Sarri make it past Christmas? Will he even have all of Courtois, Kante and Hazard in his squad in a couple of weeks? Will we sign Charlie Adams to sure up the midfield? Will we chuck 75 million at Zaha for three good performances a season? Will Roman still own us this time next year? Interesting times as ever.

I can’t see a top 4 finish this season. Mid table. We have a couple of class players but the team has no spine or character  and in general lack pace. Sorry. Sound so negative and I’ll stay away from posting continual negative posts but it’s a shame to see one of the great teams in Europe from the past decade reduced to yesterday’s  mediocrity.

Conte did over achieve and 4 3 3 is hopeless with this squad.

Back from the match and I'm still wondering if our team ever showed up. I always enjoy going to Chelsea matches but today it felt like no one wanted to be there. Is like they never tried to win, especially that second half, dreadful. It could be worse and they might not know how to play football anymore. City did not even tried too hard and showed us up whenever they pressed us a bit. Hopefully we'll get our sh*t together and learn this Sarriball or whatever, but today was a bit on the embarrassing side. Hopefully they'll learn how to play again before next Saturday, and the following one is Arsenal at home. As we've played today I don't see us getting much entertainment...

:laugh2: you've not read this thread then.

Positives - It didn't rain and no one died. Apart from that we were cr*p and were outclassed from start to finish.

It's possible that our guys know they are inferior to the likes of City but they don't have the fight of a true underdog to put more in to the performance in an attempt to bridge the gap. It's beneath their dignity to work harder and scrap it out. Worst of all today was that we had no plan for how we would try to attack them when we did have the ball. Disappointing.

Funny old game, I was following this thread and the BBC on-line commentary and watched the highlights tonight.

Firstly we have just as bad games as this under Conte.

Caballero thought was probably our man of the match as we could have conceded more.

We did look defensively open at times and our CBs looked slow to cover.

Midfield although we worked our way up the pitch we were not that good at recovering the ball successfully.

CHO has been lauded as having electric pace, I agree he is not slow yet against Walker we did not see any electric pace going down the line, good that he has the confidence to shoot yet poor execution and for one attempt it should have passed it out wide.

Both Pedro and Willian had spells where they threatened City and Barkley was unlucky to not put Abraham through on goal near the end.

So yes we were outplayed yet we had a go and like I thought we would lose 2-0 today (predicted on the 3rd) I also think we will beat Huddersfield.

Because you are boring, one note and barely discernable with your rambling about the board and Conte.  Why even support the club if all you are going to do is complain about how great Conte was. Nobody cares.

They have a striker, we don't. Our defense is full of holes, they got a more stable backline. Could have been 3 or 4 : 0 easy.

Players should already know how to press though, should already know how to pass, sarri could be the best manager in history but half the team is sh*te,
Half the team is sh*t? Well I thought sacking Conte was the solution to everything!

I think the key takeaway from the reactions in here is that we are all surprised by just how poor we were and just how much work there is to do. The friendlies didn't really give an insight into what would happen against a proper opposition.

The positive really is that this gives the board an insight into what could happen if we don't properly reinforce key areas. We have 4 days to fix this or else it'll be a real battle for this group to learn to implement Sarri's style and make the Top Four. We can't say we didn't know.
