Be excited for a young promising winger joining us. Nobody will give a sh*t about the kit if we win games in it. But we knew about this transfer since Jan. What's there to be excited about when we'll only see him play in July? So I'll reserve the excitement until then.

Look, it's the first winger we have signed since Pedro. That in itself is something to be excited about. I have my reservations about Pulisic, as most do, but Pedro was signed in August 2015. 3.5 years without signing a winger.
May 23, 20197 yr I found this article on Chelsea Reddit - kinda interesting that Auba would give advice to Young Pulisic about coming to the EPL

He has great pace and is already an elite dribbler. He has plenty of time to iron out the kinks in his game. His potential is very high. Don't just look at the numbers, he's a great talent. Yes, I watch every USA national team game. Plus every single Bundesliga game is available to watch in the states and if the Premier League isn't on or in between games I'll turn to them. There's a reason he was sitting on the sidelines when fit at Dortmund...

June 2, 20197 yr He broke into the squad at 16 or 17 and hasn't improved year over year. That worries me very much for someone the club just spent 50 million pounds on. I don't care how old he is. Also age is becoming more irrelevant now in professional sports. It's more about when you break into the team and how much mileage you have on you. Look at Thomas Muller for instance, he set the world alight as a 17-19 year old and now can barely kick the ball forward.

Google him before you talk, his stats are comparable to Ronaldo and Messi under 20...Since when are players from the US hyped anyway? It's actually Brazil,Argentina,England that have the hype if we look at the last 30 years.

Instead of spending 5-10 mins googling him I could perhaps watch his matches over the course of a season or two and garner further opinions from Dortmund fans over his ability -- that would perhaps give a more concrete idea of what he is like. To your second point, the point isn't that the UK hypes their players up, it's the fact that football isn't centrc in the US compared to anything else; however, given that Pulisic is the most talented player to come from there in a while, and his goal tally has helped the national squad, he's only going to get hyped up for doing things that no other lad in the US squad is able to do as well as the fact that the USA dominates much of the internet and global affairs Edited June 2, 20197 yr by MANoWAR

I mean, no it can't -- at least not the level anywhere the USA. You think if he was born in Lithuania or Latvia this level of hype would be similar? Again, to your second point showing me a f**king youtube highlight which can make any player look world class (see Giroud), that doesn't trump watching him. Perhaps give this a read: Talented yes, hyped up to be the next big star? Come off it Nor does it change that Dortmund have come closer to winning the league this season than any other for the past few years, despite benching Pulisic for much of it. Look at Thomas Muller for instance, he set the world alight as a 17-19 year old and now can barely kick the ball forward. For being 20 he's done pretty well so far. I haven't watched as many of his matches as you have but from watching him play for the US he suffers from the same problem Landon did. There is nobody on his level in that team so he often struggles to influence matches as often as he would if he had class players around him. Of course having better players around you helps and I don't know what to say about his Bundesliga play this season. I'm sure Dortmund wanted to win as much as they could but there may have been a notion to play him less because he was on his way out. He has scored more goals this season, despite more more limited playing time, than any before FWIW. Edited June 2, 20197 yr by TheChelseaBlues
June 2, 20197 yr Can we just f**king back him rather than slag off a 20 year old. He's a Chelsea player now. It's obvious he wanted to be a Chelsea player for a while. He might start out slow - it's a new league and he's 20. But let's not get on his back. Let's support him. Some of our fans....Jesus.
June 2, 20197 yr I think he'll be a hit in the PL. He may not be a star but he has the pace AND direct style of play you need in English football. Theres nobody in the team who offers both consistently right now. He constantly drives forward and onto goal or the end line. Willian has the pace but my God does he dally on the ball, Pedro has lost the pace but still likes to run at people and play directly toward the goal. CHO also has both of these qualities and with these two on the wings I think we'll be a very dangerous team in the future.

Giroud is world class is he not? If what constitutes a World Class player is playing at a high level for their international team and winning things at a club level, then he would pass as world class. Not jumping in your argument here Mano, just making that point. .... and in general, I agree with you on the Youtube thing.

Come off it Nor does it change that Dortmund have come closer to winning the league this season than any other for the past few years, despite benching Pulisic for much of it. He could have the same hype being from anywhere else giving his talent and what he has done so far for his national team, you are too much focused on the US and not even thinking about his ability as a player. Youtube is a good start, at least it's showing what the player is capable of and there you don't see what nation he's from you just see his skills... Now this, the opinion of a Borussia fan can be taken in many ways since they are just about to lose Pulisic to us and many fans tend to re-assure themselves by suddenly seeing all the negative things because it's easier to just think that they don't need a player like Pulisic. Even so, one of the things said there by the fan is that Pulisic isn't overhyped because he's American, so your opinion about him being from the US makes him too much hyped goes against what you yourself posted.
June 2, 20197 yr I see pulisic getting a lot of stick on here next season, especially if we struggle as expected. He cost a lot money, im sure most fans wouldve bought someone else, but i think its important to remember he is still a kid, its likely he will have an inconsistant season next year, while he adapts to a new league, and matures his game. Im hoping his work ethic will earm him some patience, but its clear he is already fighting an uphill battle with some supporters, that will no doubt jump on his every mistake, with the whole 'i told you so narrative'. Pretty sad really, he hasnt even kicked a ball for us yet.
