I guess the question in that case is what do they define as him pocketing money? For example is he entitled to take the money back that he purchased the club for, or the money he loaned over the last 19 years. Or will they only allow the sale if all the money goes to charity?

The balls in Romans court,he now has to decide the next move.

Exactly that.

Is rather simple here. UK government want him to go 0 back. No debts to him repaid, no profits, zip all.

So if he signs off that all the sale money, bar expenses go in to a frozen trust for the war victims then the government will allow him to sell and decide who to sell to imo.

It's all over I'm afraid. All over!

Are you a Chelsea fan? What kind of post is this? Hope you're being sarcastic.

How can they stop the sale of tickets?! I mean its a mere drop in the ocean in terms of revenue, and all that does is affect our support. Let me guess Boris supports Arsenal or Spurs? 😡

I'd imagine Boris supports who he always has - himself.

Net proceeds could mean loads of things, its a multi billion pound deal, there is loads of over heads, tax, raine group need to paid etc.

Your analogy is off, because in the same statement he said he was forgoing the '950k'.

So thats is just down to your interpretation. Ill take his statement at face value, as i havent seen any reports that would suggest otherwise.

Maybe he was hoping to pocket £2b, i guess we will find out by how much he fights the government.

The words " net" and "gross" featured prominently in the sacking of Ruud !

Hard to get my head around all of this. I have never felt so uncertain about our future since I started seriously following the club. We have been turned upside down overnight.

Also, and I don't mean to sound horrible, but I am getting sick of people telling me to think about what is happening in Ukraine. I know what is happening in Ukraine is horrible, I'm not an idiot, but I can be concerned about more than one thing. You can't just tell me not to care about something I have dedicated a lot of my life to. Chelsea football club have been part of some of the best and worst moments of my life, I can't just switch off any feelings I have for the clubecause of the horrible things happening to the Ukrainian people right now. I'm not having any of the "it's just a football club" rubbish, it's not just a football club to us, it's a big part of what has shaped our lives.

This is what i expect every chelseafc fan to be saying at the moment. Chelsea football club has become a very big part of our lives. Roman Abramovich has indicated that he wants to sell the club, let him sell the club and stop all these noise around our football club.

The UK government should consider that.

Well he is either a rival fan trying to stir up emotion among Chelsea fans. Or he is a Chelsea fan with a defeatist attitude.

Yeah that take people throw around is BS. You're allowed to feel concerned about Chelsea while feeling sorry about Ukraine at the same time. This doesn't need to be a black and white issue. As the saying goes, you can walk and chew gum.

I got told this morning that I needed to 'get over it' and think about Ukraine not a football club.  I've supported Chelsea all my life, my family supported Chelsea, my dad took me to my first ever game and I've loved them ever since.  It's not just football, it's part of my life and part of my families life, we get together to watch matches and go to the Bridge, we've brought children into the world who are now doing the same thing we were doing 20 or 30 years ago.  It narks the hell out of me when people tell me to get a grip and think about the possibility of war, I'm a flipping military wife who's sat at home through 4 Iraq tours and 4 Afghan ones not knowing whether I'd get a knock on the door or not so don't try and preach to me about what war does to people.

A lot of people are sadly nasty pieces of work, and stupid to believe punishing Chelsea football club has any impact on the war.

Sorry about the grief you have been getting, that is sad.

Am sure a combination of Roman's people, Gov officials, club officials, league officials and the raine bank/bidders are locked in talks to get this sorted.

Don't panic people, there will still be a Chelsea football club.

Has been an amazing ride these past 20 years and we have won it all, seen some amazing players and teams and have many wonderful moments.

If it is our time to drop from the top then it is our time to do so. Never know, maybe the new owner helps us move to the next level.

KTBFFH

I know he's a United fan but Mark Goldbridge gives a pretty fair take on the situation for anyone that wants a short summary on the situation. In fact he's rooting for Chelesea to get through this despite the cesspool on social media. It isn't as bad as it looks at the moment, the only downside of all of this is that many of the American owners who wanted us for cheap might finally have their chance now.
