Worth pointing out that FIFA were reluctant to even ban Russia from the World Cup, and will be reluctant to see the ruffling of feathers associated with some of the richest people running the game. This action sets a precedent that will worry them, and I won't be surprised to see them consider action against FA for allowing political interference from the government.

Surely Chelsea have some very high up, smart and influential fans to get us out of this mess. It was a blow when Roman said he was selling but one I accepted. This just feels 100x worse. To see my club ruined by a war I know nothing about Ukraine really hurts.

@Munkworth you have been called. Save us!

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel tells Sky Sports:

"I don't know if I'm concerned, but we're aware of it - and it changes almost every day.

"We can't do much about it, I'm still happy to be here and manager of a strong football team. I'm happy to play the match today, I know there's a lot of noise around but we try our best to focus on football.

"It's a big change from yesterday to today, but we can't influence it and we didn't cause the situation. In the moment, it seems like business is more as well protected, football wise, but let's see - it could change tomorrow.

"It's not a relief, I feel privileged to have the chance to be involved in games and coaching and that's what we can do."

Just now, Munkworth said:

I told you all to have a whip-round and get £3bil together but none of you took me seriously!

Ah come now don't be modest, you are very high up, influential and well placed you can sort it.

Fans meet sports minister after sanctions

The government has just put out a press release detailing a rapidly convened meeting between Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston and Chelsea fans on the back of sanctions being placed on Roman Abramovich, and the knock-on effect on the club.

Representatives from the Football Supporters Association, the Chelsea Supporters Trust, Chelsea Pride and Chelsea Women’s Supporters Group all attended the meeting, during which the government said Huddleston 'reassured' them he was doing everything he could to protect the club.

Kevin Miles from the FSA said: “This was an important meeting to bring together fans and the Government to understand the implications of today’s decision.

“The FSA, CST, Chelsea Pride and Chelsea Women’s Supporters Group agreed the meeting was a positive move and noted the Government’s willingness to consider licensing conditions to ensure fans are not severely impacted by the measures.”

This is my thinking as well... How are you going to screw over so many people who rely on Chelsea to live and survive.

This was my biggest fear. It sickens me that innocent people are suffering over in Ukraine and then the government decides the best form of retaliation is to stab our innocent people working at Chelsea FC and Fordstam Ltd in the back.

This is getting insane.  We're all being punished because of who the owner is.

Sell the club and get on with it.  Stop punishing the fans.

It's not like the owner was making money on Chelsea anyways.  Chelsea cost him money because it was all about winning trophies that he could show off to his rich friends.

I really want to believe this but this administration has flip flopped so many times

It's Beyond A Joke Tbh To Massively Screw The Staff Who Are Employee At Stamford Bridge And The Fans, Yeah Punish RA If He's As Bad And Associated With Putin, But To Then Punish Everyone Else Associated At The Ground Up Is Just Stupid

The government cannot sell the club unilaterally - they have not seized assets, only frozen them.

As things stand today, the only way the club can be sold is if Roman applies for a licence, and there is a structure in place to ensure he does not get any funds.

This has well and truly jumped the shark now. The biggest negative impact of these sanctions will be on Chelsea FC. The war will roll on, Russia will draw closer to China mitigating the effect of sanctions on their economy and creating a future geostrategic problem and Roman will still have a zillion dollars in other parts of the world.

Good goin' Boris, you really made a difference, didn't ya Boris.

When are we going to cancel PSG or Newcastle?

I mean a lot of owners including RA have some very questionable to say the least things about them.  And no one ever gave a crap but suddenly it's now like everyone has decided to give a crap which might be a good thing except they are limiting it to only CFC and Roman.

Qatar is still going to own PSG and the Saudi's are still going to run Newcastle United.

Have to assume he has already applied for that license.

When the owners of PSG or Newcastle are linked with those invading Ukraine, then they may well get sanctioned....

until then the comparisons are moot.

never assume, it makes an ass out of u and me .....

I wouldn't have thought so, assume they would have been taking legal advice first, looking at options. Expect it over the next few days though - but I am not convinced that Roman will agree to simply walk away with nothing. We need to all hope he does though.

Difference is USA and UK profit from their wars by selling weapons etc. So the human rights issues, and the bombings are brushed over.  The government wouldnt publically release what they recommended to the premier league about the saudi takeover, to protect their relationship

What can we do as fans to get a bigger voice in this?  Serious - how do we start signing up to support the community, employees and all those impacted by Chelsea.
