March 11, 20224 yr When the sanctions were announced yesterday the obvious conclusion would be that , even with the special license, that it would be near enough impossible to trade. We have actually no idea how much cash the club have on hand nor I suspect did HM. Government . It would seem that the plan was to stop RA getting his cash either in part or in full out if Chelsea. Think about that for one second because other than franking overspends which have resulted in RA having to inject cash my guess would be that there ain’t no money to take out that is save one area and that would be from the sale of the club. There won’t truly be a long game it will resolved within a few weeks . It won’t matter a jot to RA what the sale price is it’s very very unlikely in his immediate and potentially his lifetime that any assets will be available and let’s face it Chelsea was never about getting a cash return we were told. There is no doubt that this moment in time is a watershed moment but the Government are having to walk a very thin line because the ramifications in terms of in effect forcing the club into administration or even worse liquidation because that’s what will happen if they either don’t allow a sale or give additional allowances is what they are facing and they have trumpeted the supposed importance in terms of the culture of a football club even to the point of not enforcing debt obligations when clubs have failed to pay their tax and VAT liabilities. So where do I see this ending ? Well I can see the bidding process continuing but the sale proceeds will be very very small but none the less will result in a new owner taking over within weeks, I would imagine that there will be a total review of the players with many sold on as much as anything to get their wages and amortised value off the books. It’s not going to be the Chelsea we have seen over the last 19 years but surely anyone with an ounce of common sense knew that things were not forever. The future in terms of utilising the conveyor belt of academy youngsters is attractive there already is at least 10-15 who would be more than adequate to take matters forward supplemented by a few of the younger purchases so let’s just imagine this as a squad Mendy, James, Chillwell, Mattensen,Starr, Silva, Ampadu, Lewi, CHO, RLC, Broja, Gallagher, Havertz, Pulisic Of course there are gaps there but things will come together and we will move forward Edited March 11, 20224 yr by terraloon
March 11, 20224 yr Our 900m Nike deal is now in doubt. If they pull the plug on us, it will be a painful death. Can someone assassinate Putin?
March 11, 20224 yr So we have cash reserves of £16 million and just our monthly wage bill is £28 million. We are going under unless something happens quick.

March 11, 20224 yr Stuff like this is why sponsors are scrambling to get out of their deals with the club. Roman is still the owner of the club afterall. And let's be honest, the continued chanting of Romans name at games these days is definitly not helping the club in any way shape or form.

Government hypocrisy. Yemen: UK to resume Saudi arms sales after humanitarian review - BBC News Whilst the UK government gives itself a year to stop using Russian oil, it needed a headline grabbing action against Russia and this was the easiest and most spectacular option. And still, with an English football club condemned, Putin cracks on.

In many ways this is the ultimate test of how much Roman care for the club. If he really loves it he needs to give the goverment the sales process right now because if he doesn't do that we are heading into bankruptcy/administration. So let's hope he does the right thing.

Following a long civil war, The Yemeni president requested Saudi (and international) intervention. Saudi led a Arab coalition, but the wider international community also supported the efforts with arms sales and intelligence. That is very different to a Russian Government who have invaded Ukraine, in an unprovoked bid to take-over/ destroy the country. Different situations maybe but the justification for target and use of sanctions against private citizens, in the guise of being close to the kremlin is a low blow and hypocritical. Several have talked about the morality of how Roman became rich but different countries operate different operate different ways and in almost every where in the world, rich Nationals will have a certain access to the government, that's just the way life and the world works. I do realise that the main reason they won't go head to head and use other methods is to avoid WW3 because Putin has same capabilities of destruction they do but if it was a smaller country with the type of natural resources Russia has, there would have been boots on the ground the day they got info that Putin's army was surrounding Ukraine. It's a bit hypocritical and actually the manifestation of being a double dealerin my opinion that people you made a comfortable environment for to bring their collective stolen wealth into your country and help yourself to bits of the pie when it pleased you are now being scapegoated in this manner. Their pals and cronies have gotten rich off covid contracts, but just not long ago the PM ruled out investigating cases below a financial threshold. Even those that will be investigated we know nothing will come out of it. No one will be jailed or have such illicit gains confiscated. It's just a bitch thing to do by a bitch ass government.
March 11, 20224 yr I've absolutely no unfulfilled wishes as a Chelsea fan. Between the ages of 9 and 18 we only spent 2 years in the top flight. The football was a bit rank at times, however we had a hardcore support and had great times home and away. The novelty of winning trophies waned for me a while back, and a by product of success unfortunately means you attract supporters who tend to be in it for reflected glory. If it turns to pot I'd wager atmosphere and passion would return to the Bridge. As long as I've still got a team to support that'll do for me

Of course I want the same thing, but if you’re Roman you’ve got to understand this isn’t an easy decision, if you were in his shoes would you want to hand over the deal of a club/business you’ve built for 19 years to the government of a country that has literally banned you from entering it? Yes it’s obviously best for the club but signing over £3bn to a country that hates you isn’t exactly a decision he is going to want to make.

Agreed, I think a sale will go through quite soon and all will work out well, but the very immediate future is looking bleak.

But it's the only alternative as the club is going under if he doesn't. He may get the proceeds from the sale back at a later date but if he doesn't agree to hand it over right now then he'll have £0 of worth in the club and a bunch of angry supporters on his back presumably.

The value of the club will keep dropping as long as he’s in charge. I’m not sure how this will work, but say if he was to sell now , he may be able to claim the money from the sale in the future ? This is assuming he manages to win whatever legal battle he brings to his assets being seized/frozen.
March 11, 20224 yr Nick Candy still wants to buy our club. Considering he's a Chelsea fan like us, I rather have him take charge. I want the next owner to have passion for our club. He will be attending the Newcastle game. Edited March 11, 20224 yr by Mana
March 11, 20224 yr I agree with both of you @Dubair @Sindre that it is in the best interest of the club and maybe down the line he could get the money back, but my point is it’s really easy for us to dismiss how difficult a decision like this has to be from pride perspective, especially given this was only made official 24 hours ago.
March 11, 20224 yr The points deduction for adminsitration is there to stop clubs running themselves into the ground. It would incredibly unfair to deduct us points because the government has literally hamstrung us and our ability to fund anything.
