Wait a minute, you’re saying the Americans money are clean? Because… they’re Americans not Russian or Arabian?

You mention best academy in the world, who made that happen?

It's not linked to a government trying to influence our country. I'd rather keep politics out of my football club. So yes, it's cleaner than the Arabs or Russians money.

Roman made it happen. He built it. I'll always be grateful. But he chose Putin over Chelsea. Make no mistake, if he chose Chelsea he'd still be our owner. And that academy can continue to be world class because it's proven how profitable it is.

Did he? Source? Or you just pulled this out of your ass? Didn’t Zelensky ask the US NOT to sanction Roman because he’s helping them?

Arsenal hasn’t won the PL in 20 years.

United haven’t won the PL since 2013 when Fergie left. They also haven’t got a trophy since 2017.

Tottenham. Cobwebs.

Liverpool, despite ALL the inspiration only won 1 PL trophy in 30 years.

The American owners have made these clubs soulless except in RECENT times Liverpool.

Speak to a United fan these days, they don’t want to talk about their club anymore. Arsenal fans up to this season had nothing but found Saka and Smith-Rowe and clinging on to that.

Tottenham get battered everywhere they go.

BWG is not the answer, and in 10 years we could end up like a soulless club.

Source: the club is being taken away from him, he's under sanctions, he's made no statement distancing himself from Putin.

If he came out and said I completely disagree with Putin, his actions are wrong and I will work with Ukrainian and NATO leaders to see what I can do to bring this to an end. He'd still he our owner. He hasn't done that because he's either scared, he's too invested in Putin or because he agrees with him.

You're as easy to believe that Zelensky reportedly said that as you are to not believe that Romans company is funding the Russian tanks. I'd rather believe what is definitely true. That Roman has not distanced himself from Putin publicly. Doesn't matter why, he made that decision and he knows it means the end of him owning Chelsea otherwise he wouldn't have put us up for sale.

That’s also a lie. Terms of what? Only European trophies?

Because everything else Arsenal are still the biggest.

Erm. Trophies in the last twenty years, Commercial revenue, social media followers, team performance, academy players in the England set up. What are Arsenal the biggest in? Winning trophies in the previous century? I admit they have a bigger YouTube fan tv channel than we do 😂

I'm sorry you're so desperate to be the club that wins the most trophies. I want us to be the best club, one with a great academy, great stadium, fan base and a club that is growing. I don't need it to be artificial.

It seems very defeatist to me to write off the potential new owners before anything has even been confirmed. If it’s true that the higher ups at Chelsea (including Roman) have been involved in this selection process then I would be inclined to believe that they were happy with the pitches from the prospective new owners and wouldn’t have shortlisted them otherwise. The fact that potential buyers have been asked to provide legally binding documents outlining their plans for the future of the club is promising as well.

Will we be as successful as we were under Roman? Time will tell, but the infrastructure is there for Chelsea to really kick on from this position and consistently be fighting at the top of Europe.

For me there’s no point being doom and gloom about the future of the club and the ambition of the new owners, if the board (and Roman) are satisfied with the vision these people have laid out then we have to try and trust that the club will be in good hands.

Even if we don’t stay competitive at the top, no club has a divine right to do so forever. For a bit of perspective we have won more in the last 20/25 years than some clubs will ever win in our lifetimes. If this is the end then I’d say we’ve had a pretty good run.

I'm feeling very cynical about this whole process. While Raine Group are running the selection process, HM Gov will make sure they have the final say. They are not going to allow an Abramovich appointed company to have a free say.  I just can't see the Gov allowing any bidder with questionable credentials to take over the club. This is the Govs opportunity to show they are cleaning the game up. They will also be considering that some proceeds will be going to war victims and surely this will encourage the sale to the highest bidder with little thought given to the clubs future.

The highest bidder is in all probability the one who is borrowing the most and the one who is prepared to saddle the club with most debt. I'd like to see the future of the club as the number one criteria with a solid plan for investment in the stadium and team.

HM Government will just want the highest bid.

I still trust that RA will do what he's done for Chelsea all this time, choose what's best for the Club. Just like when he sacked Frank Lampard he got us Tuchel (and I was one that would have stuck happily with Frank), he will get us the Tuchel of owners. He has Chelsea's interests at heart, he's shown that, and this time will be no different. Even under the pressure that these clowns in government are putting him and Chelsea under, he'll manage to get us the bid with the best present and future plans.

In what way?.. We have more fans on every single media group. Won much much more than them in the last 20 years etc.. We are much bigger than arsenal..

Ask any non-Chelsea fan and 95% of them will disagree. Arsenal is bigger, and you are deluded if you think otherwise. We have not caught up. Twitter followers doesn’t mean we are bigger.

I’ll respond to those other posts later this afternoon, but I’m busy atm.

Unless I’m missing something, you don’t sound much like a fan to me. You’re coming across as a glory hunter desperate for reflected glory. I live near Manchester and whilst United fans are not all that happy at the moment, they do still talk about their club. As nice as winning things is, there is a bit more to following Chelsea. I’d never have started watching them in 1983 if I couldn’t accept that they weren’t likely to win the European Cup.

And as for this stuff about Roman being asked to mediate (which either didn’t happen or was a disaster), Zelensky probably only asked because he knows he has Putin’s ear. Otherwise why choose Abramovich? Runs with the hare and hunts with the hounds.

None of our trophies are artificial in any way if I even understand what you mean...what is important is winning. This is professional sports. This is why the likes of Pep, Klopp and Tuchel are so coveted. They win you things. You can wrap around values to the club all you like but nothing trumps winning. We are testament to that idea. Clubs buy players to win, they hire managers who win and fans want wins.

We operate currently at this level. The model is not invented by Chelsea but clubs like Bayern, Real, Barcelona, United and the list goes on. Currently United, Tottenham and Arsenal are on that second tier. They are the guys who want to be us. I don't want our new owners instilling any other ideas to our club.

Ps.. Are we bigger than Spurs?

I think our trophies were about investing in Chelsea. Roman saw a return on his investment and the ambition was to take us to the top table and then make us sustainable.

It was never about a permanent state of winning on the pitch and loss making off it.

I want to see us win and win sustainably. I think that's realistic.

Abramovich ‘opens talks to buy new club’ amid Chelsea sale

Abramovich Chelsea

Roman Abramovich has reportedly opened talks to buy a new football club with the process of selling Chelsea ongoing.

Abramovich put Chelsea up for sale at the start of March before being hit by sanctions by the UK government.

New affiliate club for Chelsea then going forward......

Ha I'm not @Mana I don't think either arsenal or Tottenham are bigger than Chelsea.

That's the view of someone who lives in the last century, not this one.

London is blue.

Sky confirm BWG and Sir Martins bids are on the shortlist.

Ricketts family could still be:

The Chelsea Supporters' Trust issued a statement on Friday voicing its concerns about the ability of the Ricketts family to run an "inclusive, successful club".

"If they are unable to address these and gain confidence of supporters, we do not believe it would be in the best interests of our members for the bid to succeed," the Trust wrote on social media.

We have taken massive steps towards that. Roman was eager to make us great and he did. After seeing that happen we have been taking big steps towards sustainability.

I don't want any type of Arsene Wenger type philosophies around our club. I'd much rather be Real Madrid than hippie-dippie Arsenal. When you talk about money for guys like Roman it is just money. I don't understand why the money has to be "human-sized". John or Jane don't own top clubs and they don't have to. People always reflect their own lives to things. The way Roman has got his wealth is another question. I rather we have an owner with a cleaner background.

I think the way our academy works we have Great basis for a sustainable system. Now I don't suggest we have guys like Mount or James coming through every year but one or two top guys in 5 years would be great.

I disagree, and dismissing European success is ridiculous.

Chelsea have won everything at the very top level of club football. We cannot got any higher and can only repeat the success.

Arsenal on the other hand have only been window shopping when it comes to football outside of domestic competitions. They have a single UEFA trophy, and a string of failed attempts, bottling it in all but one of UEFA's various finals. While we have won it all, they have lost it all.

You simply must win the Champions League to be considered in the elite group of football clubs.
