February 5, 20242 yr I read somewhere that our wages bill for 22/23 is still massive, and much higher even than in 21/22, which surprised the hell out of me, but maybe it is the 23/24 cycle that all the new performance-based contracts will be evident in the numbers ...

And they will stay high for 5+ years. It also doesn't take a rocket scientist either to know that our revenues are not going to be increasing this year or next. We aren't in Europe and we aren't announcing any interesting commercial tie ups. We will release our updated accounts in March. I'm really interested to see what they look like. But it's not being a speculative pessimist to say that if our revenues start to drop them we're in trouble. And that doesn't mean in trouble next year, it means at some point in the future. It’s still not the whole picture, still guesswork. Until we know the exact situation I’d rather not speculate on who we need to sell or how many points we’re gonna get deducted. We have enough problems on the pitch without making up more.

February 5, 20242 yr I suppose the key to success in life is timing Having employed a policy that has taken us from club world champions to mediocre laughing stock inside of two years and on the back of the horrendous week we've had these clowns have now decided to hire another failed American from our dear Spursy friends across the city to come and rename our hallowed home to something like the Dixie Fried fking Stamford Bowl. You are making it sound like Todd has all the power. He is the figure head Eghbali put forward to protect himself. Clearlake own 2 3rds of Chelsea (blueco whatever). Todd owns a 10th, like the other investors a small stake along with Wyss et AL. Clearlake call the shots. They allowed Todd to be a sporting director and what did he do? It was not all youth players. It was serial winner Sterling, Koulibaly, Aubameyang. Experience, with top rated Cucurella. All for stupid fees and huge wages. Then Todd get benched and Eghbali took over, and the philosophy changed.

And right now it's hard for anyone to say revenue isn't going down and it's hard for anyone to argue that our costs haven't gone up.

If anything I was backing them to keep us clear of FFP issues, if that is even a thing, thus keeping us away from doom of a huge points penalty or worse. If that means selling players, we sell players. Not sure why you feel it is a negative thing we have sellable assests, if we even need to sell them, it could all be media fear mongering.

Under Boehly the LA Dodgers have been consistently good, but they have only won the World Series once. Some would argue they probably should have won the World Series a couple more times based on their roster. While its a different sport, I'd equate their success to being a consistent top 4 side. I imagine his goal would be to achieve a similar degree of success here. Although that seems a fair way off at present.

Yes but that's baseball - a completely different sport - so it's absolutely meaningless.

The main fact is we don’t know where we are regarding FFP. Maybe I’m fed up of the clickbait news, don’t even see scummy sky reporting on this even though they’d love some anti Chelsea news. Last week we were buying Osimhen in the summer now we need to sell half the squad to survive. Which one is it.
February 5, 20242 yr It's always the DailyMail that has this inside knowledge of our finances and what we submit for FFP.

We could sign Osimhen, then need to sell Colwill, Gallagher, and maybe in a year or two Palmer. And we can't fully afford to sack Poch now.
February 5, 20242 yr If you step back and look at the big picture if any one of us here tried our hardest to ruined Chelsea in 18 months with £1 billion we would fail yet these f**king 🤡 🤡 succeeded. Its genuinely astonishing that they have taken one of the most valuable sporting assets and turned it into a comedy show.
February 6, 20242 yr Brief article from Jonathan Wilson about the mess Clearlake have left us in: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/feb/05/todd-boehlys-chelsea-are-a-1bn-mess Swiss Ramble is usually good on football finances: https://swissramble.substack.com/p/how-much-money-did-chelsea-really https://swissramble.substack.com/p/how-can-chelsea-comply-with-ffp-rules

February 6, 20242 yr I think we will see more Americans in our ranks as time goes on. As Todd said " We need to learn from the Americans" I think they invented soccer🤔

Super league reaction, aimed at Todd, Eghbali, Wyss, Stewart, Winstanley and anyone else involved at the top end.

It was the moodiest match of the season on Sunday.

I can only imagine what it was like at the Bridge given how toxic it seemed on television. Sterling booed when getting subbed off. The amount of groans when we played it backwards. Half time booing. Full time booing. Not good.

February 6, 20242 yr I think Eghbali may be getting uncomfortable now 60% shareholder Cant bring in more players because of FFP Cant sell players without losing money Cant sack manager because FFP So players are irrelevant, manager is irrelevant and player recruitment directors are all but redundant Oh and his investment is going south Dont worry his mate Todd will sort it out
February 6, 20242 yr Media saying some players are unhappy they signed for us, and feel tricked in to a project that is not real. We heard from Enzos dad he is not happy, no other players mentioned but not hard to believe. As I have said before, regardless of contract lengths, players like Enzo, Nkunku, Palmer and Colwill I do not believe will stick around for regular mid table PL no European football.
