We’ll be 10th or there

abouts, if you think otherwise please tell me what you’re smoking bc it seems like it’s a very high THC %.

Only way to Europe is to win the Carabo cup final for Europa Conf League qualification. the Mickey 🐭 🏆 the Pikeys won last season. Silver lining would be that club has  not bagged that one yet and lbh our squad may be able to compete in that comp and go deep

However there is the small matter of Bin Dippers to beat who are top of EPL 20 points ahead and we haven’t beat them in 7 prior attempts.

There's 2 points separating 7th and 10th. Since the 1st October we are 7th best team on form. West Ham and Brighton are currently still above us and are in free fall.

If we don't finish 7th, its a failure.

Probably yes. For me it is all the same to be 10th or 7th...maybe the extra games in Europe could do good for experience and morale. Maybe. In terms of revenue Europe is more important. Not sure how the lowest European competition pays compared to Champions League, probably the difference is massive.

I think it's more a symbol than anything else that we're on the way up.

And personally I'd love us to be in it. Its a European trophy we haven't won!

I'd agree that finishing 7th might be an easier path to Europa Conference League. Although we would need to improve on our consistency in the league. That being said, qualification via beating Liverpool in the Carabao cup would give everybody a huge boost. In fact that alone might even lead to improvements in our league form too.

On the flip side, it might give us nothing to target and we have a similar ending to last season.

I do think as inconsistent as we feel, we have since October been consistent enough to hit 7th. We're in for a few bad weeks I suspect, but after that there's the scope to get into that 7th place.

5th or 6th isn't impossible either. United and Villa have the capacity to implode.

I'm not as positive as I sound here, I do think we have so many issues and Poch isn't solving them for me. But let's see and let's just go and win the carabao Cup

So we’re linked with another Brighton staff member. Not sure what the obsession with Brighton is.

For Wigan and Sheff Wednesday manager Paul Jewells son.

Seems a banker to me, with Brighton making plans for RDZ to leave in the summer, that he is our new manager in waiting.

You are a big fan of his right @dkw? ;)

Hahaha is he really? I was about to make a joke about it.

Reckon he was conceived on that fateful photocopier?

Not sure of the truth of it, but Younes was quoting someone (Telegraph?) that said qualifying for the Euro Conference actually hurts us due to the more stringent FFP regime in Europe compared to here. Ergo it could be more cost effective for this lot if we lose the League Cup final than if we win it.

If true, what the actual....

This FFP and PSR stuff could be the death knell ultimately. Football has always been a rich man's playground, it's never been sustainable for the vast majority of clubs. All that will happen is that the arse will fall out of the transfer market and we will all have our operations scaled back, thus elimating all of these grandiose plans.

If there are clubs out there owned by nation states that then cannot invest in the clubs they own, then granted it will be a more level playing field, its just that there will be none of the glitz, glamour and pull that football currently has, or what they have been building towards.

Whilst i detest what this mob have done to this club, i am under no illusions that everyone bidding for us were here to make money out of the pipeline revenue streams. Close those avenues down because clubs have to demonstrate a sustained manageable loss ratio throughout that projected period and i suspect it may well all collapse around ours and many others clubs' ears.

As has been mentioned before, this stuff will push "elite" clubs to the SuperLeague model and all of the rest will either collapse or return to the 80's level of income potential.

I saw that article. What a crazy sport this has become if it's true. Nothing beats the highs of seeing your team win a trophy, but we could be punished the season after because it puts us in a European competition.

Remember when football was fun and entertaining?

Qualifying for the conference league has little financial incentive, hence why there are suggestions it could hurt us in FFP as opposed to qualifying for the Champions League. It isn't a case of if we qualify for the conference league we are automatically fined compared to if we don't qualify.

More scaremongering from the media.

Man United have been linked with taking our "Chief analyst " Kyle McAuley.

I imagine our owners reaction to the possible loss of an ex Brighton man to be something like:

Angry The Office GIF

Too much to hope that he'll be linking back up with Potter ?

Such an embarrassing set of owners. Could have just given Tony some money two seasons ago for his club instead of this farce and obsession with turning us to Brighton.
