Absolutely disgraceful stuff, How is this not tyranny?

Tyranny - Cruel, Unreasonable or arbitrary use of power or control.

I don't care if people label me a Putin sympathizer etc but this is the equivalent of closing the accounts/taking a house that belongs to parents of a convicted terrorist. Just because you share close proximity to evil does not mean you agree with their actions, How does this need to be said out loud?

Unsure times ahead. Sad. I won't be surprised if we end up throwing the game today against Norwich... it's going to be difficult for the players to stay strong mentally after such news.

It was half expected but it still has rocked me.

It now poses some massive questions.

Can we still procede with the sale of the club as long as Roman doesnt receive any funds? If so, who chooses what bid to accept? Is just government auction? Where do the funds go?

If we cant sell, and this carries on through the summer, this is extremely detrimental. Youth players leaving for free, 1st team players out of contract leaving for free, no ability to replace them.

No merchandise sales, sponsorships massively impacted, no season ticket renewals, empty stadiums.

Im hoping this is just the government making sure Roman cant get any money from the sale, so he will allowed to continue with the process, but they will oversee the sale if the club.

If it isnt, and they are just going to impose the sanction indefinitely until Putin pulls out of Ukraine, then i think we will be in serious trouble.

It must only be a matter of minutes now before Putin announces that his forces are returning to Russia and that they are very sorry.

Don't be naive, this is about stopping money getting back to Russia.

  • They can pay "reasonable" costs of travel to and from fixtures but not exceeding £20,000 per game per team.

So, National Express returns to Middlesboro and a one night block booking at a Travelodge - without breakfast.

Chelsea FC 1905 to 2022. At least we went out as Champions of the World.

At what level of the pyramid would a 'phoenix' club be able to enter?

Lukaku’s level. Dog and Duck

We could genuinely face relegation next season.

Could be a lot worse than that, as things stand I don’t see how the club could continue running for longer than a few months.

authoritarianism at it's worst. Regardless of who owns Fordstam Ltd., Chelsea FC is still a London-based sporting entity with English people working there.

The Govt has no right to impose freezing the income of the club. It also violates the freedom of the players. We are genuinely stuck with Lukaku for the foreseeable future.

It’s clearly designed to put pressure on Putin but it won’t work.

The club can still be sold but the difficult thing is that the UK govt will now sell it - which will drag out and take ages. I wonder what changed and if they gave Roman a short window to sell the club.

Boris and co are going to screw us over. Our only hope is Dominic Rahab who is a Chelsea fan apparently.

Listening to the radio, this is of course speculation. An administrator would be appointed to oversee the sale of the club with all proceeds ring-fenced to make sure Roman can't receive any. As there had been a previous announcement of net profits going to the victims of the war, this would likely be the outcome.

At this point, I don't think Putin cares. Why would he, he's got wealth. He seems determined to leave a legacy behind, and he doesn't care who is hurt. Russia bombing maternity units proves this. I think the bigger issue at the moment is war being on the horizon, not football. I think that's where this is all leading.

I acknowledge this but freezing the club does nothing to stop the money going back to Russia.

Freezing the transit of money from the club to Roman should have been enough. This is a whole new level

We can prob afford a short period of things being frozen but surely the govt won’t want to Chelsea FC, an employer of hundreds and income generator of millions of ££& to go bust? They have to allow the sale of the club to go through quickly so that it’s not involved. Completely unfair otherwise on fans and British people.

Sad times, I'm not sure if it can get any worse for our club at this point.  A massively uncertain future ahead of us.

The cynic in me thinks that all these sanctions and seizing of assets by our government is just a nice way for them to gain control of billions of pounds worth of assets to then sell to their rich mates for a tidy profit.  What I'm guessing will happen is instead of Roman selling to the most worthy owner to the benefit of the fans and giving the billions of pounds to Ukraine, our government will sell to the highest bidder with no care for the club/fans and pocket the proceeds for themselves.

I'm guessing when Boris takes over Chelsea FC Putin will turn his tanks around and give up.

It seems to be worded such that the Premier League fixtures and other teams can still flourish. Same could be said /read for Uefa.

If however we were to not play again it would screw up many teams and leagues and UK income.
