March 10, 20224 yr Three pulling their sponsorship, more likely to follow suit, will UEFA remove us from champions league like it has with russian clubs? If this isnt resolved by the end of the season, and the club are plunged into administration, we will start next season with a 9 point deduction. Ive seem some Chelsea crisis's over the years, this is completely next level. I was hoping for a good owner, but right now that looks a pipedream. Imagine if Tuchel quit, we could even hire another manager.

It's likely going to be a massive and protracted legal case. He's definitly not going to play to the goverments tune and let them have the £2bn that he considers his. In the meantime we probably can't be sold as long as there is an ongoing legal case so we end up in administration. With everything that entails... Well, it was a fun ride.
March 10, 20224 yr Luckily I remember the really bad years, it's not nice and not something I want to ever see again. but we'll be ok, we are a completely different club these days, there's never going to be an owner like Roman ever again, the best in football. let's get behind the team for now, no matter what happens, it's still Chelsea ! come on you BLUES !
March 10, 20224 yr Roman was a great owner for us, but from others POV, people would say he was bad for the PL because the inflated fees for players and salaries came with that, which has led to where we are today, along with so many foreign owners 'ruining' football so to speak. March 10, 20224 yr All of a sudden I get the urge to get a Chelsea tattoo,, things must really be bad...
March 10, 20224 yr Are we allowed to go to the games we have paid tickets for? I.e. this Thursday at Norwich, this coming Sunday against Newcastle, or Lille or Brentford (all already paid for). This is just so unfair on the club and fans, how on earth punishing 38,000 Chelsea match-going fans is fair when we have no involvement in the invasion? Chelsea has not been involved in the invasion, and I'd say that this is also a dangerous precedent, are they going to start freezing football club assets from any owner that contravenes what the government wants?

My understanding is if the tickets have already been paid for prior to the sanctioning of Abramovich, then you're free to go to the games. However, from this point on there will be no ticket sales allowed.
March 10, 20224 yr I don't how this will turn out for Chelsea FC as an entity. It's all so far beyond my pay grade I'm struggling to get my head around it all. But like others on here I do feel it will have absolutely no immediate impact on Putin's actions. That said, looking at things far more important than football, I do feel the West is right to do everything it can to isolate Russia and Russian interests. Some might not like this but I also feel everything that can be done should be done to affect the living standards of ordinary Russian citizens and make their lives as uncomfortable and as difficult as possible. I think there are only two ways that Putin can be forced to back down. All out war or an uprising by the Russian people which in itself would also have prolonged and bloody consequences. I just find these very, very sad times. Not a day seems to go past without bad news in one form or another.
March 10, 20224 yr We won't be able to spend £100 million on a "top" striker anymore, you gotta look at the positives.
March 10, 20224 yr I think we will be sold though a new owner may be one we would not choose. I don't think the government will want to damage the EPL as it earns a lot of money on the game, we are big enough to create a lot of noise if it feels we have been dealt a bad hand. It is government action that has harmed the club not bad ownership.

March 10, 20224 yr It’s hard to truly contemplate where this leaves Chelsea. Very bad day. Let the dust settle, and all we can do is play football. No idea how they’ll travel to France for champions league, but who knows what will happen by then.

March 10, 20224 yr Meanwhile I've been bombarded with that annoying "HELP! SAVE THE BRIDGE!" pics from mates. They are loving this so hard.
March 10, 20224 yr This on a smaller scale could have happened in 2003 so you could argue we've had 20 years of grace. We were £140 million in debt and we would have had to sell off our assets Terry, Lampard, Eidur, Jimmy FB Lamps and JT weren't then the players they were to become so only a fraction of that debt would have been paid off. Where would we have been without Roman hard to say but certainly not numerous trophies we've won. Better have a thick skin because we are going to get terrible stick off everyone us old boys it's water off a duck's back young fans I'm not so sure and some will change allegiance they will just go from following one team on the internet to another.
March 10, 20224 yr i hope this sort of gets us in a "us against the world" type mentality where we become unbeatable
March 10, 20224 yr maybe we will have some favourable VAR decisions now that we are Government property
March 10, 20224 yr At this point, I question even if this comes down to greed from the government - Get in there before any sale “for the good of the people” - ££££££££
March 10, 20224 yr While I do accept this is a real calamity for chelsea, whose fans have nothing to do with the war, we must see the bigger picture, the nation that owns chelsea last night bombed a hospital and killed 3 people there including a 6 year old child.....he had nothing to do with the war either, as did none of the thousands of other civillians murdered by this evil dictator who is supported by RA

I think this will paint a bigger picture for football clubs generally! Once Chelsea is done, they’ll go after all the other clubs with ‘questionable’ investment. City will be next!

There is a bigger picture however, I agree with that. I'm in favour of sanctions, with this seazing of Roman's assets at this stage I have a few questions about timing, though. I can't say I totally trust Boris Johnson's and the Tory Party's selflessness. Edited March 10, 20224 yr by Valerie
