Match Going Fans

Featured Replies

A lot of fuss is often made about fans at matches with people often complaining that our support isn't vocal enough at home, and a lot of the season ticket holders saying their opinion is worth more than an 'armchair fan' (Rory Jennings, Dan Levene etc.).

In regards to last nights match, i thought the 'f**k sarriball' chants were completely embarrassing to our club and to then follow it up with 'Bring back Mourinho'. When you're 2-0 the fans focus should be to boost the players morale and get behind the team to kick on, not direct abuse towards any individual. We often talk about there being something wrong with the board/owner/players but our fans are accountable too.

Just wondered what other people's opinions were on the chanting last night really?

From where I was standing at the MHU, the "bring back Mourinho" chant seemed to come from the ManU fans at the Shed, I thought it was similar to when we sang to Arse "Arsen Wenger we want you to stay". But I may be wrong and it may be some Chelsea supporters, but certainly not at the MHU where I was seating.

The "f**k Sarriball" and booing players at half time and during changes I thought it was embarrasing, but it was followed by a massive "Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea!" I guess from fans embarrased by the previous chant.

I think it was Utd fans chanting Mourinho back. Might be controversial, but I would, however, say our fans are only loud in situations like this. Very rarely do I hear a very loud atmosphere at the Bridge. This is why I feel fans have become spoiled since Roman's takeover.

I’ve been to 4 home games this year and the atmosphere’s been sh*t on each occasion.

We only seem to make a noise when we are winning, or the game is won.

I thought the Utd fans were singing, 'You can take back Mourinho.'

First half before the goals I heard plenty of 'Carefree'

There was a point in the 2nd half where we got a very loud 'Chelsea.'

Missed the rest of the chanting as didn't hear any negatives just saw shots of people leaving.

The jeering of the substitutions was fair enough, but the f**k Sarri-ball thing was a bit strong really, especially at that point. As futile as it was, the game wasn't over and miracles can happen and we could have maybe bundled in a couple for an extra 30 mins. Support the team until the final whistle and then give whoever hell.

Having said that, the Sarri-ball chant came over a lot clearer on Twitter than on the BBC.

First manager I have known in my time supporting Chelsea to lose the faith and good will of the home support.

Benetiz had no good will in the bank to begin with and he was unwelcome the day he took over.

Sarri’s different, even Scolari and AVB didn’t invite this level of frustration from the home support. Surprised me in truth but speaks volumes about the frustration with Sarri’s tunnel vision.

I was there last night, albeit I left on 75 mins (the earliest I have ever left a game in my 25 years of going).

I thought the "f**k Sarriball" chants were harsh and embarrassing.... it's just counter productive, but I suppose if you want the Manager sacked perhaps it isn't.

The atmosphere was generally flat after we went 1-0 down, but it is reflective of the mood at the moment.

On the other hand, United had the best turnout they have had at the Bridge that I can remember (loud and consistent signing throughout), but then again it was the best night they have had at the Bridge in 20 odd years, so to be expected.

All in all, a night to forget as soon as possible, for many reasons...

It's just the frustration of the entire situation. Sarri will not rotate players. His substitutions are completely predictable: Barkley for Kovacic or vice versa, Willian for Pedro or vice versa, and then Giroud for Higuain/Morata and then the occasional 6 minutes for CHO. Last night, the bridge is calling for CHO and he brings on Zappacosta for Azpi??? That is an absolutely baffling move! Was he giving up??? Was Azpi hurt??? Even if he was bring on CHO for him and drop Kante into the back 4 at RB for the last 10 minutes... We had nothing to lose at that point. But he brought on a defender down 2-0. No ambition it appears and while signing "f**k SarriBall" isn't a good look, you could understand why they felt the way they did. And the "bring back Mourinho" and "You're getting sacked in the morning" was ManU fans as has been pointed out by now.

Sarri's actions are making it hard to stand behind him and support him when he does what he does. Things started so hot for us, and a bit of it was luck, but sometimes they don't look interested in playing a football match.

Every time I go I’m most perplexed at the disturbing obsession with Spurs.

And they're just as obsessed with us.That's down to history fella. Come and live where I do and you'd get it.

Com'on now cuppa let's hear you .... "We hateTottenham"

PS: we haven't lost to Tottenham home and away in the league for 48 years. If Sarri blows that record next week, with the same type of football he is serving up now, the fans really will go for him. Big time.

Boot on other foot, was at OT late 90’s, when we sung them under the table.

” Sixty Thousand Muppets” rung round the ground. Might have been the fuse that lit Roy Keane and his prawn sandwich supporters rant, as a general rule, supporters accustomed to success don’t sing a lot, those that aren’t or or are having a lean patch do.

To the tune of That’s Amore.

“ When the ball hits the back of the Old Trafford net, that’s Vialli.

When your face is so glum and your names Ferguson, that’s Vialli”

Edit: Id be quite happy for us to slide into prolonged mid table obscurity, or get relegated if it resulted getting an atmosphere back at the Bridge, as are many that I know that have followed us through thick and thin.

This, and going back to the 70's

Embarrassing.  United started the Sacked in the Morning & Mourinho chant but the Chelsea fans joined in. As for ‘f**k Sarriball’, I had my head in my hands at that point. I’ve never in my life seen the fans turn on the manager at The Bridge like that and it’s left a foul stench in the air.

The ones that stayed for the full 90 (even when it’s like it was last night I won’t go early and I don’t understand those who do) did get back behind the players and just before the final whistle there was a good rendition of ‘We love you chelsea’ which was drowned out by the away fans on tv.

Liverpool and city weren't bad atmospheres but 5:30 Saturday will always be better due extra drinking time, on the whole the atmosphere at home is appalling

The atmosphere at home matches is way better than in here as a rule.

When I go I tend to get shoved in West Lower, the atmosphere is non-existent. A lady once turned around and frowned at me for calling Dele Alli a "cheating c**t".

I feel like we're one step away from bringing in those cringeworthy clap banners...

The fans practically told Sarri to feck off. Cant really recover from that when your team cant hit a cows arse with a banjo.

Benitez got the cold shoulder from day one, including Benitez out cards, but still he went on to add a European trophy to our cabinet.

Been to all the league games at home and a few away.

Chuck in a few cup games as well as the odd away i must say with the odd exception city, the dippers and spuds in the cup the atmosphere generally has been poor.

Away from home as usuall superb

I cant see untill they bring in safe standing this improving

I feel sorry for the younger fans who never stood on the Shed, the clock end, park lane, south bank, kippax etc with our support in full voice.

Many a game with constant Chelsea,Chelsea in the second half drowning the home support

I suppose some of us got old and quietened down.

Not me
