July 2, 20206 yr Tomori was certainly quick and I recall had a couple of matches where he looked nervous. He is also a little short for a CB these days and that goal West Ham scored where Azpi was on the back post, Azpi looked like a kid in comparison. Perhaps if we had a better keeper on crosses Tomori would get more of a look in as he certainly has qualities.

When Tomori was on form he looked sh*t hot, but he did have a lot of hiccups in his passing play. Which happens with young defenders. But when he's good he's good, he put in some amazing performances and it sounds stupid saying it given the mistakes he has made but I think he's the best on the ball out of all 4 of them. If you watch his earliest games, he was fantastic at playing it out from the back.
July 3, 20206 yr I think him and Ampadu need a Premier league loan where they play consistently for a season, before fighting for a place here. Its difficult for young defenders because mostakes are more likely to lead to goals compared with other areas of the pitch, and if they havent been able to nail down a place in a season with very little pressure, i dont fancy there chances next season, especially if we bring a good centre back in. They have high potential, but they arent going to reach it spending large parts of the season on the bench.
July 7, 20206 yr I really hope that those rumors are fake. Reports that we are planning to loan him to West Ham and getting Rice. We can't send him, we have to build him in our team.

He won't get much here now atm because he's simply not as good as our other options

July 8, 20206 yr Has to get a game now if he's match fit, Christensen wouldn't even make the Arsenal team with his past few games.

Also it makes you wonder, Lampard has used plenty of youth players throughout this season and put his faith in a lot of them... So there is clearly a reason why he hasn't played Tomori that much.

Is he a better centre back or DM than what we have as our current options in those positions ?

Think that might be due to his aerial ability, think he lacks in that area in comparison to the other 3 CB's & with our difficulties from set pieces Lampard has had to go with a combination of the other 3 instead of Tomori.

But he just seems more prone to making mistakes which is a shame. Also, Pulisic I can agree with but Mount? Just because he runs a lot and has high energy doesnt make him our best player.

Tomori has made a lot of mistakes and has some issues with confidence, but there's no denying that he's put in better performances than Rudiger has this season. Defensively Tomori has always been pretty solid actually, and when he hasn't made mistakes he looks excellent on the ball.

Seriously, you say he does everything better, but what though? Can't think of anything he excels in. Maybe heading a ball? at a push. Our entire team relies on Mount to set a tempo, one of the most important players in the team. If you can't see that since the restart then i can't help you. 24 minutes ago, Slojo said: Tomori has made a lot of mistakes and has some issues with confidence, but there's no denying that he's put in better performances than Rudiger has this season. Doesn't have the experience but he's the better player this season. Rudiger is given the nod on reputation.

In the league and CL combined, he's only played 13 minutes fewer than Rüdiger. He also played every minute of the run of form in the autumn which we have almost entirely to thank for currently being 3rd. Does anyone know what his current status is? With the condemning form of all of our individual centre backs (Zouma perhaps exonerated), and the probability that the wise move probably includes a back three in one or more of the remaining games, it would be useful to have him available. According to an article in The Athletic Lampard was heard shouting "wake up" at his direction multiple times during the Bournemouth game. That plus the early evidence him and Rudi don't look that great a partnership, probably explains why he's stopped playing.
July 15, 20206 yr Speaking of someone who has barely played, it makes me think back to Kalas , who only played one match for us, a 10/10 virtuoso performance versus Liverpool, and who never played another match for us after that. i cannot fathom the reason why this is so; can anyone explain why this happened?
July 15, 20206 yr If you remember Kalas only played that game because of injury problems. It was a great performance so it was odd that he never got another chance. But, he never went on to shine at other.clubs so it was pretty much just a one off performance well above his usual level. I'm more interested to know why it went wrong for someone like Michael Duberry, who looked awesome in a string of games when he got his chance, then faded and never looked that good again.
